Wow wont be chatting with you anymore...it would be like holding water in my hand.
You have no more credibility to discuss the bible.
You can’t tolerate people who disagree with you?

I believe in Jesus Christ. His teachings are found in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

I think Paul was a great man, but I don’t think he was perfect.

Hi Abiding

I think we are both on the same wavelength and reading from the same bible. It seems a hopeless task trying to convince people (from the scriptures) who do not totally base their lives on the scriptures, but decide (using their limited, mortal, finite minds) what is truth and what is not. They are believing themselves to be gods who lean on their own thinking rather than "lean not on your own understanding". The only trustworthy body of truth in the World IS the Bible - no other.

Paul and God are two different people. Paul demanded women be silent in church. I don’t think God meant for Paul to say that.
So you reject the insipiration of the bible?

I like this idea, now I can add or take what I want!

I don't see any harm, if we hold our tongue.
If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his
tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.( James 1:3)
My favorite verse about wisdom so far:
Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue. (Proverbs 17:28)
To be honest, this problem both men and women.

R33 told me (on another post) that he did not agree with some of Paul's teachings. He only agreed with what Jesus said. Please pray for him.

No, the Bible is an accurate account of history.

Jesus is our Lord and Savior. His commandments, which are found in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, must be obeyed.

And God, the Father, must be obeyed. He is often quoted in the Bible and must be obeyed.

God is not a book. His commandments can be found in the Bible. Obey them. But don’t worship the Bible. Instead, develop a personal relationship with the Lord.

People would have a lot less questions if they asked WHY did Paul say this. and for what purpose he wanted to accomplish. And then compare scripture with scripture to get the full meaning.
This to me is obviously talking about a woman being in authority. So Pauls saying stop letting your women be in authority at church, Don't let them speak.
Why would Paul say this? Because he was addressing a problem the church had.
Just like how you notice Jesus never spoke out really against homosexuality, why? Not because it's not a sin but that it wasn't really a huge issue for the jews.
Jesus didn't specifically speak out about this because the jews weren't making mistakes regarding this. Paul is speaking out about this because there seems to be an issue. so first you have to ask whats the issue? And then how is it going to be resolved. Does this m0ean women can never EVER say anything in church or there transgressing? Obviously not, that would not make any sense to me, nor serve any good purpose. But if hes talking about them speaking and being leaders and in authority over men then yes there's a problem.
It's not a sexist claim but God gave men and women different roles to put out. All Paul is addressing here is there role, I don't think hes saying hush be quiet women, I heard you said hello to someone in church and that's wrong! Shut up!.
Hes saying men are the teachers not women, stop stepping out of your place.
make sense lol?

I didn’t say “inspiration.”

We are all inspired by the Lord, to some degree, hopefully. That doesn’t mean we always say the right things.

Dude

you are taking things way out of context. No-one has said this. When Paul says that a woman should remain silent, it is in the context of seeking authority over men and seeking to teach men.
Hi xJoe

I have quoted something (above) which I wrote on page 3 which cannot be seen on this current page.

You can see from that, that I am in total agreement with you. Well said! You are spot on!

My question was about inspiration, not accuracy.

This picking and choosing what we like and don't like as truth, seems like a pretty good idea.

You don’t pick and choose.

Everything God and Jesus say are true. They are quoted many times in the Bible.

Paul was a human like us. He was very wise, but he wasn’t perfect. It’s like listening to your pastor. You can learn much from your pastor, but that doesn't mean he's always right.

Paul wasn't a pastor, he was an Apostle. The bible is the inspired and innerrent Word of God. Accept or reject at your own peril.

The purpose of the Bible is to lead us to the Lord. At some point you need to develop a personal relationship with him.
