Not saved without water baptism?
The condition on not having eternal life is not believing on the Lord Jesus Christ.
See John 5:24, 6:40
Water baptism represents conversion, symbolizes it.. but doesn't remove "the filth of the flesh'.
I took an aspirin 'for' a cold. I had the cold before taking aspirin.
I got water baptism 'for' the remission of sins.
I already had remission of sins.
John 5:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, He that hears my word, and
believes on him that sent me, has everlasting life,...
John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that
every one which sees the Son, and believes on him, may have everlasting life: ...
The Word, "Believe" is one of the
BIGGEST, most profound words in the Bible... So ! What does it encompass? =
" EVERYTHING !!"
Concerning our relationship with Christ and The Father, unto our salvation.
Baptism's Role and Significance:
- Symbol of Conversion and Repentance: Baptism symbolizes repentance, the remission of sins, and a new relationship with God. It is an outward expression of the internal change a person undergoes when they accept Jesus Christ and His sacrifice. ~~ Matthew 3:11 (NIV): “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
- Identification with Christ: Through baptism, the believer identifies with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, symbolizing a death to sin and a new life in Christ. ~~ Romans 6:3-4 (NIV): “Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
- Baptism is not just a ritual but a reflection of a person’s transformation. True repentance, a turning away from sin, and faith in Jesus Christ, are key prerequisites for baptism. Through these acts, one is granted forgiveness and the remission of sins.
"Water baptism represents conversion, symbolizes it.. but doesn't remove "the filth of the flesh'."
For sure, the Atoning Blood of Christ, removes the sin. We have to WANT to be cleansed ( of evil ) 1 John 3:4-6, so much so, that we REPENT (turn away from doing sin), to be able to identifying with Christ and His Righteousness. ( putting on His Robe of Righteousness)
Salvation is conditional .. on "Believing Jesus" John 3:16 .. believing and actualizing ALL that Jesus said and because of God's Good Grace, and by the Faith
IN&
OF Jesus, we believe all of His Word, in Christ alone, His Righteousness ( by the Holy Spirit's indwelling) He empowers us, to the Glory of God Alone... unto salvation.
John 8:11 "... And Jesus said to her, Neither do I condemn you:
go, and sin no more. ( repent )
Salvation is conditional on our repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. There is a necessity of personal responsibility in accepting salvation. Repentance involves turning away from sin and a commitment to obey God's commandments. Baptism is a key symbol of this process, marking the beginning of a transformed life dedicated to God. Cooperation between humanity and God is vital, with each person actively participating in their salvation while relying on divine grace to overcome sin. Gal 2:20
I'm confused.
Do you believe baptism saves or our works save?
I believe and have faith in the redeeming Blood of our Lord.
He saves us ! Eph 2:9, Because of His Righteousness, The Faith OF Jesus (the "right doing" ) of the Father's Will (= His Commandments / Character ) Baptism is essential for the forgiveness of sins and the renewal of the heart and is the outward sign of an inward change, a public declaration of a believer's commitment to follow Christ.
Act 2:38 ...Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
