Is it harder for the Holy Spirit to sort out for readers on CC what is a Bible quote or reference and what is the poster's own thoughts, than it is for Him to sort out for readers of a Bible what is God's intended message and what is the translators' own thoughts?
It depends on how well one knows the spirits voice

Folks - please remember and keep in mind that the thread topic is very specifically about the presentation of Bible verses in your posts and not posting in general. In the context of this thread, how you present anything/everything else in the post is not an issue.

Do you respect the Word of God enough that you will always see to it that you do your very best to make sure that your every presentation of bible verses is done in the most clean-and-clear neat God-honoring manner possible?

Or, do you just throw it around carelessly as if it is not any more important or special than any other wording that you might put in your posts.

I have noticed that many on here are quite sloppy with their presentation of bible verses.

Why is that? Are you just lazy or what?

Why would you not want to make sure that book names along with chapter and verse numbers are always present and having the full correct spelling of names and properly positioned-and-spaced numbers?

A verse number should never be found jammed together with the verse text. Proper spacing is important to the cadence of reading the text.

And, if you do not see the importance of providing some kind of separation between bible verses and what you are saying - you need to do some critical self-examination. Seriously.

I cringe when I see people run bible verses and whatever they are saying together without any form of separation whatsoever. No putting comments about verses in parentheses. (Or, at least, offset by some reasonable means.) No line spacing. No anything. Just run together - one sentence is a bible verse and the next one is their added comments. And, the next one is a bible verse. Embedded comments with no indication that they are not part of what should be a reading of the Word of God. This should never occur.

How you present the Word of God in your posts tells me a lot about the true nature of your approach to the Word of God.

If the Word of God is really-and-truly special to you - you will always do your best to give it special treatment in your posts - making it "set apart" from everything else and "lifted up" above it.

When you throw it around like you copied-and-pasted it from a garbage dump - well - that says something about you... ;)

( Don't bother to try to "teach" me something from the Word of God if you cannot even present it properly in your posts. )

Hmm I understand :) but some of us try so hard so hard... its one of those threads I rather not touch. Give you one... a known preacher I believed I was agreeing with him said about my post "mumble jumble incoherent". Got this stuff all my life.. just smile praise GOD move on. Odd He in 64y never even hinted...hmm

And who decides that, particularly on a public forum? The actual written word always outweighs anything a person states they think they 'heard' from God. We should be led by they Holy Spirit, but He does not lead us apart from the written revelation we already have.

I am not directing the following to you personally because I don't know you but people who run around wanting to know what the 'will of God' is for them personally, would do themselves a very big favor if they would first know the 'revealed' word of God which is the Bible we all esteem to believe and follow. We cannot blame God when we follow some 'word' we thought we heard or maybe someone said over us or to us and we end up on a dead end street or worse.

The Bible is the best guard rail we will ever have bar none. People would avoid all kinds of things they might wish they had not experienced if only they their minds were 'renewed' as we are instructed to do. :)

I think I understand what you are saying here. I recently had or tried to have, a conversation with someone I thought knew me and vice versa and yet I had to cut it short because they become very upset and misunderstood what I had said and revealed some things they thought about me that has led me to believe that unless that person is honest about things, it is sadly an end to what I thought was an honest discourse between us.

Oh yes He does. would you like to hear my testimony about it? It's a good one.

I have talked to several people on here that at first seem straight to the gate with their beliefs on to have them do a 180 in an Op.
So... Love them much, trust them little. I don't try to make immediate friends on CC or get close to the "educated" ones. I know I am what I am by the grace of God, but others I truly don't know at all. There are only a handful that their/my spirit has bore witness of each other as children of God.

He is every bit alive on a public forum than anywhere else and the spirit of God is just as strong on a public forum than anywhere else so how does one know the spirits voice? by listening.

I have seen how the word of God is so easily misused twisted cherry picked or downright said to say something it isn't all to fit a certain doctrine or belief and each person believing their interpretation is the correct one and by the spirits leading yet look at how divided the church is all the denominations all the doctrines the interpretations how a brother or sister will at times even use scripture to mock or attack each other and even worse is some peoplebelieve that their bible version is the only true one and all other versions all watered down others still believe you need to know greek and hebrew to truly understand his word

But the spirit is a universal language you cannot twist or cherry pick or form attacks on others from the voice of the spirit himself the spirit speaks to the spirit not to the mind or to the flesh

So if we truly held his word in such high regard we would never dare do any of these things to his word nor would we form doctrines of our own belief systems and denominations ect. we would be one in spirit but the enemy knows the art of war very well you win a war by divide confuse and then conquor

Seeing all this division and confusion all the ways scriptures are mistreated or misused tells me we need to really learn to know and understand his voice we start with scripture yes but that is the beginning phase what comes after that is a much more intimate thing

Your wording is not as clear as you might think. Do you mean, “He does not lead us away from/in contradiction to the written word” or, “He does not lead us without using the words of Scripture”?

If the former, I agree. If the latter, I disagree completely, and I challenge you to figure out how it was known that Agabus was a prophet prior to him prophesying in Acts 11:27-28.

Well, since I never said the Holy Spirit lost any of His holiness or any attribute He possesses, your response seems somewhat defensive. The problem does not lie with the Holy Spirit, but lies with the person saying they are speaking on behalf of God. Since most of my post was not even directed at you, I think you might be talking to yourself since I never addressed almost all of what you have posted here.

By the way, are we supposing you do put the written word above personal revelation?

Well, I think you learn to trust God more and more with the understanding we are all come to the knowledge of salvation by His mercy and grace. That being said, I don't think we need to be the continued mop for those who continue to expect us to just
forgive and forget. Forgiveness is an absolute, but let's learn something from that as well. On a forum like this, I think it would
be somewhat difficult to really connect with someone in the way you might in a physical setting. I'm not here to find best friends
or anything; judging from a couple of the responses I already got, it sounds like some are waiting to pounce on even the least
disagreeable posts.

Come on now, don't be like that - Dino's question is valid - your statement could in fact be interpreted two different ways. Please be nice and simply tell him what you meant...

Oh no I was not being defensive nor did I think you were adressing me most of what I said was kind of just me putting my thoughts on paper about his word, it deeply saddens me to see how it is used incorrectly or see how divided we have become as a church and since the topic of the discussion is about honoring his word I didn't think I was speaking out of turn.

But yes his word will always trump personal revelation

Like what? Actually I am very nice but I have no intention in getting involved in what is what exactly? A test to see if I am actually a Christian since I have not posted before or wracked up 12 years of posting?

This is what I plainly said: We should be led by they Holy Spirit, but He does not lead us apart from the written revelation we already have. So how does that imply anything other than the written word? sheesh 2.0. Besides, I think my character is not what this thread is about :)

And, what does 'I challenge you' mean exactly? Pistols at dawn? His tone was aggressive. Talk to him about it and not how I responded and thank you very much but that's it for me regarding the challenge or whatever else Dino wishes to involve me in

That's fine and glad to see you do place the Bible above personal revelation.

The thing we are uncertain about is centered around the word 'apart'. Go read Dino's post again. Read the two different "impressions" of your statement that he describes/illustrates. They are different. Both are perfectly valid.

No one is judging you - we simply want to understand more precisely what you meant. That is all. Really. (At least, as far as I am concerned.)

That poor horse is close to being flogged to death. Leave no stone unturned and perhaps throw a few if warranted.

Thanks for initiation. :) By the way, I do not see the dual understanding in my response but maybe my Americanese is not up to muster for some.
