There was a discussion at church last night about weather is it ok to dance in church weather you feel Gods presence or not, we have some that dance and others that dont, this one person said that when you dance and dont feel Gods presence you are dancing in the flesh others were saying you dont have to feel Gods presence, but do you really have to feel Gods presence to be able to dance wouldnt we just be living base on feelings and not by knowing? what if one doesnt feel Gods presence? what if I dont feel like praying? or fasting? what if I dont feel like going to church? ect. what do you guys think do you have to feel Gods presence to dance?

Gods word clearly tells s that he is not a feeling, he is a spirit. We dont have to wait till we have a feeling to do anything that has to do with God. Feelings is the voice of the flesh, reason is the voice of the mind, and conscience is the voice of the spirit.

The point is not dancing if you feel God or not, it should be dancing to praise God!!!

Unless you're about to do some dirty dancing, I don't see why you shouldn't dance/not dance whenever you feel like it. I don't see why 'feeling God's presence' should be a pre-requisite for dancing a jig.

We are worshiping The Father in our praise, our music, our song and dance, etc. Worshiping when we feel His Spirit...OH what a glorious and joyful feeling. Worshiping Him when we do not feel His Spirit? I believe that is worshiping in faith. In the good times and the bad, whether we, "feel Him," or not, we know He is smiling down on us when we worship Him. :) I believe it takes more faith to worship Him when we don't feel Him than it does when we do.

Ok why would someone want to dance in church?

Aren't there enough things already to keep men away from church?

Dancing is fine but not at church.

Lol! Oh that's so funny. I personally don't care one or the other if people dance for joy at church; however, I think people should have some respect for the format. In other words, it's fine to dance at a Vineyard during worship but I don't think dancing around during a serious Bible Study at a Baptist service fits that criteria. There are scriptural guidelines to assembling together.

Sure why not dance; I'm sure no one's going to get up and dance like David danced, but if they do as long as they do it unto the Lord..... let it be!

Yeah, true, i mean why have people expressing joy and happiness.. and worship at CHURCH?? thats ridiculous. we need to keep church more like a funeral. calm, quiet, unexciting. And save our expressions of excitement for the things that really deserve it like sports, or concerts, things like that, and not waste our excitement on God. geeze, some people!

Good analogy!

Psalm 150:6
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD.

Psalm 149:3
Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with tambourine and harp.

Sine i know a little about Dancing and Music, befor Jesus Christ started working in my life, i can tell you what i believe or would do in your situation. But i would suggest that you would study up on if and how music w/wo lyrics effects a person. 3 or more years i lived a very worldly life, and by the end i went partying up to 4-5 times a week in clubs ect...and since i was a good dancer i danced alote. Till this day i dance to Gloryfie either the Lyric, the Beats or if neither was good the Artist. So you can imagine that my dance had to fit with what the lyrics talked about or to "stick" with the beat. I also know that people get a certain High of Music and Dancing, again i would suggest that you study up on it if you are really concerned or just want to gain knowledge how it works. This High that people can get themselfs into, if they desire is UnGodly....has nothing to do with the Spirit and the person can actually get Addicted to that high, and it will replace in Church or outside the Holy Spirit. On the other hand Dancing is a from of Communication, for example sign language saying I Love You, you point to the Eye then your Heart then to the Person, dancing is similar or even the same, if someone dances and looks into Heaven and points towards Heaven he is Gloryfing the one who Sits on the Throne Jesus Christ "Hopefully", or if the person holds his arms Close together like he is bracing himself and moves back and forth might mean he is sorrowfull or afraid. So yes, im not here to condemn Dancing in a building were Jesus is being Glorified, David danced. But on the Other hand the Music or Dance should never be used to get an Emotional High or to Glorify anything else but Jesus Christ himself, if you see someone dancing rapidly, aggresive or believe he is trying to get an Emotional High, some of those dances if seen on the internet were i find no difference between those type of dances and an exorcism, and it concernce you, you should talk with the Pastor and treat it like every other issue you have in Church.

Hope i helped, sry for my english, it isnt the greatest lol.

Or just keep it simple. Do you wait for the Spirit to pray, or do you pray whether you 'feel' the Spirit or not? Do you enter praise and worship only when you feel the Spirit, or do you enter praise and worship regardless of 'feeling' the Spirit? Do you not read your bible if you aren't feeling the Spirit or do you just read either way? If you're intent in dancing is a form of praise and worship why do you need to wait to feel the Spirit first when you don't operate that way in other aspects?

Agree with Ugly ( you should consider changing your name sir, I see a beautiful person there :) ). Our hearts can be deceiving, why should we trust our feelings?

The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? Jeremiah 17:9
