This is a super touchy subject and over my life time, I have met a lot of people who have struggled with pornography, including myself.

I’ve been using Covenant Eyes for some time now and have been abstinent, with one non-porn slip since.

Covenant Eyes is an app for men or women who want to stop lust and sexual immorality in its tracks. It has a surveillance system for your devices that will notify your ally or allies, which holds you accountable…I found that it works really well.

Last time I was subscribed to Covenant Eyes, I was abstinent from MB for over a year and a half.

I think the trick is staying subscribed.

I was looking online about how the brain rewires itself while remaining abstinent and some experts recommend 90 days, up to a year, before being involved in a relationship.

I’m taking this very seriously.

God says to remain as is and not seek for a wife; so that is what I have been doing. (I don’t even attend the single’s forum on this site…maybe not until a year since I started Covenant Eyes)

If you can pray for me, I’d appreciate it.

Yeah, I'll pray for you!

Also ask the Holy Spirit and He will help you to resist temptation to look at it. You'll also get a nice clean feeling of peace - I don't know how to describe it - but having that peace that only God can give will encourage you to choose to resist any sin and temptation!

So far so good.

Haven’t looked at corn or an unrealistically beautiful woman in almost a month or so.

It also helps to delete social media (for me at least)

No point in having mainstream social media anyways. I literally only probably talked to one person on Instagram and one person on Facebook and that was it. The rest of the people I talked with were people challenging me about believing in Jesus/God.

I usually get that peace that God gives when I listen to a book out of the Bible or I listen to worship music for a while or I watch my church’s sermon. My analogy is it’s kind of like a Christian cigarette. (I know that sounds horrible)

Listened to all of Job and Psalms yesterday (again this past weekend)

Probably going to search for a book in the Bible about resisting temptation because I feel such a strong pull sometimes…so I counteract it with “the Christian cigarette”.

If a woman is obviously and blatantly showing off her body, it helps to picture what she will look like in 40 years. You'll start snickering at how proud she is of something that will look that bad.

I'm guessing that porn addiction is just like any other addiction , alcohol , cigarettes , gambling , overeating , in that it's all about chemicals and the brain . Once those pleasure pathways r in place it's hard to ignore their pull . I used to b addicted to cigarettes , smoked regularly from when I was 16 to 41 . It was very hard to give up . I did so because they were becoming very expensive and I was doing without other things in order to b able to smoke . I gave up cold turkey 😬 the first 2 weeks were torture , the following 3 months were extremely difficult , the three months after that were hard work . When I look back , I don't feel that I gave up at all , I feel as if it was some kind of dream , I'm sure that God did that for me . It doesn't feel as if I gave up , it feels as if God took it away from me .
Maybe try praying : Dear God please take this away from me . I hope u can beat this , I know u can with God's help . Like most things in this life , the timing had to b right for u . May God bless your efforts ❤️ . It helped me to realise that I was in fact hurting myself very much by smoking . Funny thing is , I gave up aged 41 and got stage 4 breast cancer aged 46 ! God got me through that also ❤️ .

All you have to do is go to the girlfriends mom & dad's house and look at the pictures on the walls and you'll see exactly what she will look like, and how the cjildren will look! I did that and wouldn't believe my eyes. Her mom was, well, let's just say she hit the wall hard. But my young wife was So Cute...and that was 41 years ago so I have the results!

Oh my God she's the splitting image of her mom (shudder)...

I think it has been a while, for me it was pretty similar, but with the twisted way my time works, I could have done it within 2 weeks and be none the wiser.

Thanks for sharing that testimony @Suze

My dad has been smoking all of his life, from 16 to I think he is now 62. I think the only cancer he has had is a dot of skin cancer he had removed from his arm cause he also goes surfing a lot and still does.

I think my grandfather (my moms dad) got throat Cancer before he passed and I don’t believe he ever used drugs, drank alcohol or smoked.

Glad you beat it @Suze and that you able to bless this forum site and your life with your presence.

So far, I’ve remained abstinent from corn use ever since I started this journey, so hopefully it continues.

Thanks for the prayers.

Porn is a nasty stronghold. It corrupts your soul badly and I hear there is a nasty demon in charge.

There's also Appblock. Works on apps and web sites. Free version only lets you have three blocked. So far, that's all I need.....

It's incredible to think that when the internet first started, it was meant to be a place where you could get information, to learn from others about different things.

And now the top 10 sites are all sexual in nature or pornography.....

Covenant Eyes seems to work really well for me. I also have a few Allies that I check in with, who will be alerted if I “slip.”

So far so good.

Praying here, with confidence in our Father to give strength when and where needed. All to His glory and Honor, amen.
