To me the footnotes in the modern versions creates doubt concerning God's Word. They are saying these words shouldn't be in the Traditional Bible. The foot notes in the Traditional translation are saying the words should be there.

There are only 2 Bible manuscript text of copies (there are no extant original manuscripts – Majority Text/Minority Text) which makes it simple to realize which one is correct; they are too different from one another and only one can claim which is the Word of God because He has given us His promise that His Word will be in the correct translation. I say "the translation" because there is only one complete unaltered version of God's Word, which are translations derived from the Majority Text, Ecclesiastical text, Received Text and Byzantine texts (all of these texts are in agreement with one another).

The "omissions" alone in the modern versions disqualifies them because the Lord Jesus said, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God" (Mat 4:4). The translation is not perfect, but God's Word in the translation is complete (perfect), if it contains all of the Scriptures.

God allowed almost 500 years to pass with His Word to us, which there were only one set of manuscripts available, until they recently found the corrupted manuscripts that no copier would use, mainly because they were missing excessive passages (the modern translators took their liberty to also change this translation via interpolations and transpositions.) Thus, when the footnote that a passage or words should not be there, they are claiming that the Traditional (Majority Text) version is adding words that are not found in the Minority Text. There was no Minority Text before this discovery (1800’s). Why would God allow, at any time, esp. for half a millennium, His children to be without His Word.

I'm one of the few here who chooses to only use the Traditional Text aka The King James Bible. You might find the following sermon/ lecture on your topic interesting. I know that I learned a lot that made me reconsider some misunderstandings I had about the NKJV.
I had believed what I frequently heard. Then I realized that's what most do when they read footnotes that wrongly state, "oldest and best manuscripts."

You rightly point out a major doctrine that Jesus carries forward from the Old Testament.
Matthew 4:4
The Devil attacked God's Word in the beginning and he has multiplied his lies today.
Jesus is just as correct today as He was when He rebuked Satan.
We still must have an every word of God Bible.

That's one of the biggest problems with SAPs (Self Appointed Preachers.) They have only one or two real messages.

In this case Net's messages are "once saved, always saved" and "KJV only." Rarely does he say anything that does not contain at least one of these elements.

One should be very careful in the reading of the footnotes and should not assume all of it is spiritual truth or an accurate interpretation.
The footnotes just add doubt to the reader's mind, trying to say the words do not belong there; and that after 500 years!

Hi HAH! Really like and appreciate your reply and comments! Actually, the KJV is the best for studying and NKJV is best for reading;

"There are three primary English Bible translations consistently based on the Textus Receptus (Traditional Text): the King James Version (KJV), the New King James Version (NKJV), and the Geneva Bible. These are the most well-known examples of translations that use the Traditional Text (also known as the Textus Receptus) as their basis." -Google AI

The footnotes just add doubt to the translations when they say the words should not be there! No scribes ever copied these manuscripts because they were too corrupted. That's why they sat in an off-place area until the were recently discovered in the 19th century.

Amen to everything you said! Yes, the devil has been secretly attacking God's Word since Gen. 3:1, "Yea hath God said." I do not think this deception will become commonly realize until He returns!!

Hi Lynx! Your right about my postings that somewhere lead to either being permanently saved, and matters concerning God's Word! After witnessing to others, these are the 2 most important issues in this life; these both increase the strength of faith. The more we study the Word (with the proper commentator), the more we understand the Father's will and pleasures!

Sorry, that last post was a just a screenshot and didn't transfer the sermon for some reason.

I'll go back, look it up and see if I can get that to you.
In the meantime, here's a shorter interview that explains the purpose of the NKJV.

For sure, brother.

Here is what I meant to post.

I was a teenager who was rightly taught that I needed to quit trusting my morality/ obedience to the law, and rather place all my trust in the Savior Who suffered, Who gave Himself for me to deliver me from a dreadful destination of everlasting suffering.
This subject came to mind.

I reasoned the following:
A
. Everyone has an opinion and I went to so many different churches and listened to TV programs that I knew they all couldn't be right.

B. God's nature is to desire us to know the truth about such a profoundly important subject.

C. He would not want to hide the real means of salvation from me.

D. He must have preserved the Bible correctly so we can all go to the Source of truth rather than the various opinions of men.

E. I had an opinion on the subject. That included the works that I added to the Lord and payment He made. I didn't understand at that point that they were but filthy rags.
However, I had an open mind to be corrected by Him, so I asked for Him to correct me from His correct Word that I seldom read, but reasoned must exist.

A Sunday school teacher who cared about me, BJ gave me a gift years prior. It was a King James Bible.
I actually trusted it over my Roman Catholic Bible I was raised with. This was the Bible that God gave clarity to with the understanding that I could BE SAVED.

I changed my mind (repented) from believing the lie of works based salvation was necessary to add to the gospel > to trusting the fact that Jesus paid it all. His Sacrifice was ALL sufficient. I called upon the Lord in faith to save me. Since then, He has never left me nor forsaken me.

This was due to:
1. A faithful witness who clearly told me what the Bible says.
2. A faithful Bible that clearly and correctly was trusted for the facts of salvation.
3. A faithful Holy Spirit Who responded to my pray to the Father.
4. A faithful Savior Who gave Himself for me. Romans 5:1-9

1Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
6For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly... 8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

I sure hope anyone with doubts will consider the confidence that you can have with the true and faithful written Word and Jesus of Whom it speaks.

So far I see no significant oppositions with the NKJV. These two Bibles will probably never be surpassed in any fashion!

"The New King James Version (NKJV) is a significant update of the King James Version (KJV), but it is not a new translation from different source material. While the NKJV modernizes the KJV's 17th-century English for easier reading, it retains the KJV's formal, word-for-word translation style and is based on the same traditional Hebrew and Greek texts" -Google AI

I can't find the Modern English Translation free online, but all translations can be checked at 2 points. If they are different from these 2 passages they use the wrong text base:

2Sam 21:19 and 1Jn 5:7. 2Sam says "Elhanan killed Goliath," but should say "Elhanan killed the brother of Goliath," because "David killed Goliath."

1Jn 5:7 is supposed to say, "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one." This verse is actually missing in the corrupted translations, among hundreds of other passages.

2 Samuel 21:19 doesnt say brother but footnote says Hb doesnt have brother and sends reader to 1 Chronicles 1:5 where brother is stated.
Foot note on 1Jn 5:7 says Father, Word, Holy Spirit does not appear in the oldest texts.

I have a KJV with absolutely no references or foot notes , so what has happened over my 30 years reading it is that I have put my own references in . So when one thing has seemed to me to b connected to another I have put a little note of my own in . I think that it's helped me by making / enabling me to discover things for myself and I also believe that things we have discovered for ourselves stay in our memory better . I'm also a firm believer in the Old Testament being a foreshadow of the New and that the two r linked in so very very many ways , beyond the obvious .
