tell us about it dude. what is being done?...what is the context?

Im sayin that the church of Corinth was having problems with the women being disruptive, so Paul told them to make them be silent. If your kids were showin out in the grocery store and they tell you to keep YOUR kids out of the store, are we to ban all kids from the store?

Imagine if Satan were to write a letter to the church. It might go a little something like this.

Dear church,
I want to thank you for silencing your women. It is really is nice to have a few less people speaking against me and working against my agenda. It feels nice to have a few less feet stepping on my head. Thank you for making your women feel inferior and less important to God. That makes my job much easier. I dont have to plant my seeds of division in the church, because you have already done that for me. I dont have to make women feel like God cant speak to them, because you have already done that for me as well. Keep up the good work...Good lookin out :)

Sincerelely yours
Lucifer

...really?

I have never once felt 'inferior and less important to God' because I shouldn't go spouting off at church. Neither do I feel like God can't speak to me due to my obligation to shut my mouth when the preacher is preaching.

Are you suggesting that women SHOULD feel inferior or less important because of this Scripture?

As I've said, I find it amazing that it is men who are having the biggest struggle accepting this bit of Scripture. I don't get it- are you trying to earn points with the ladies by 'defending' their right to speak in church, their right to teach God's Word to men?

I wasn't going to say anything else on this thread, but this imaginary "letter" just...torqued my turkey. It's ridiculous speculation, hardly helpful to making a point.

No,, there is nothing blasphemous about this because the women being silent in church thing is taken out of context
cannot be taken out of context, it means exactly what is says.. It is US that tries to make it fit US. What about HIS rules?

I agree with you. I don't feel inferior or less important to God either.

HAS nothing to do with earning points....maybe earning points with God for speaking against a lie from the devil

I used to defend that too before but then I realized that Bible is clear on that issue. The Bible says that women should be silent in CHURCH. We can teach other women and children. We just can't teach or preach to men.

1 Corinthians 14:33-35
"For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church."

Remember the Bible was written in time period in which women were considered property.. In Ecclesiastes, Solomon said that all women are foolish,,, This must have been just Solomon's opinion, because God would not say such a thing

Also rumor...the gospel went out also to cities where woman ruled...so this is not
the reason God made His decision..nor was it anything but His good will and pleasure.

So when a lady does speak in church are her words less valid than if a man were to speak the same words?

Any person could use that same logic to annul every scripture..by the way they do.
But its not for me to answer. Its your own job to struggle with God.

Its like the question can God do this or that...or cant God do this or that...dont put Him in a box.
Your on your own. Lean on your own understanding if it floats your boat...dont worry there
are plenty of other folk on that boat, you wont be alone...if fact its the most popular kind
of reasoning going today. Who cares for Gods opinion anyway.
