Sometime with autism its like growing up very very slowly a 50 year old could finaly reach an emotional lever of a 10 -15 year old and function independently later on in life.

So autism is basically someone who we used to call 'slow'? These people have existed before we had modern medicine and it's a real condition but i didn't know that autism means 'slow development'.

Slow isn't the same. Have you encountered anyone that has had level two or three autism before?

Eli I would love for you to step one day in the lives of a mother with a child with autism. I'm going to be frank the first thing that typically happens is the man leaves. I've seen MANY single mothers over the years with autistic children. Men typically cant take the irritation of the child not listening to them. A woman i knew her husband even gave her an ultimatum. people can always comment on things when they don't have to deal with it themselves saying I could have done it better "if you had just done this he would have acted better" what autistic family member hasn't heard this a 1000 times before? Im an advocate for medicine in children with autism to keep the family together.

Yeah believe me i find a lot of odd things about the family structure in USA which is why i'm asking how you define autism, then how do you handle autism and then how or why do you need to give meds depending on what your definition of autism is.

I myself am someone who grew up being diagnosed with aspergers. I speak from myself that autistic children are edified by appealing to their senses and curiosity, not vocal commands that yeild nothing apparently beneficial to them.
That's not to say you should lead them with a carrot on a stick. They need sincere warmth in touches and emotional communication.
They can sense when a person is 'faking it' and are mindful of how they're neglected; they're quick to draw connections between your emotions and behavior.
But you must take it upon yourself to show them that bad is bad and good is good. Speaking isn't enough, you have to demonstrate.

So, according to Google "ai" Aspergers means:

Asperger's, now considered a part of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by difficulties with social interaction and communication, repetitive behaviors, and restricted interests, often alongside normal to above-average intelligence and no significant language delay. Since the 2013 diagnostic update, the term "Asperger's" is no longer used as a separate diagnosis but rather to describe a high-functioning form of ASD, though some individuals still prefer this term.

Isn't this another way of saying 'shy'?

No, i haven't or i may have depending on what level 2 or 3 autism is.
They are hard to describe gently. On their surface they may be mistaken for having down syndrome.
Isn't this another way of saying 'shy'?
I was very shy in school, and I associate that with my lack of interest in the vanity that others cared about.

@HeIsHere and @Daisy2 if you're saying that Autism means when a child is unable to speak until 5 year old or later then i learned something new today.
But according to that Google "ai" summary, they defined it as regular character traits and i didn't see anything about mute or slow speaking.

No, i haven't or i may have depending on what level 2 or 3 autism is.

Level one is mild they can function normally just have difficulty with some empathy and social skills some support needed
Level two can talk but has respective sentences. Has social skills but conversational only goes one way. moderate support needed to function
level three non verbal child minded comping mechanism even in public may hold a slinky have headphones on or dress in one colored jump suits jogging outfits. full support is needed cannot live independently

No often autism is first notice by not talking in childhood then just speaking full sentences one day or never speaking there's not really an in-between with on this one.

Elon Musk has Aspergers.

Daisy bear with me here for a minute with what you just said.
Especially point number 3.
Do you realize that the whole Gen X generation was wearing this trend back in the 90s? Headphones on, baggy pants and they were the latchkey kids.
So the whole Generation X is autistic?

This i understand and if this is called Autism then i learned something new today.
Like i said, it's not what Google said but i agree with you here if this is the real definition.

Musk is not someone I'd like to be associated with. He's a treacherous man and a shameless antichrist. I've read things that he wrote which most of the public wasn't bought attention to, which I can't show you now because I can't find them.
Thunderf00t has some youtube videos about him (admitidly someone who's an atheist), which reveals his business model.

So @Daisy2 with this new definition of autism which is what @HeIsHere was saying, which means that a child has delayed speech we now go to the questions of meds.
Are there any meds for this condition?

Musk, to me, is someone who DOES have issues with public speaking like Zucherberg. Both are geniuses in their field but are a bit slow in social interactions. Especially Zuch. Have you seen him speak in congress?
But i'm not sure if they are anything other than 'shy', because most geeks are shy. And geeks usually have higher intelligence too. That's why they make things like Facebook, Microsoft, Tesla, Paypal etc.
Geeks did these things with one enhanced personality trait which is extreme focus on a topic.

Sorry, ran out of edit time, but wanted to dd that I am still reading post between quoting you (@Ceph ) and so if you have already answered I will eventually see it and don't feel you have to answer again (unless you want to)

I moved into a related field about 10 years ago, so I have not kept up on the current research as much as I used to, so there may be other strategies available and more current information.

Before medications and the limited understanding of autism generally speaking the children wore helmets some into their adult years.

However, the research has revealed that there is significant sensory deficiency for some of the children on the spectrum, and the head banging can be viewed as sensory seeking behaviour so presently the strategy has been weighted blankets, fidget toys and items to engage the senses.

As well, I think there is a lot of research regarding the anxiety component of autism so the head banging can be connected to anxiety, in my experience the stronger the levels of receptive and expressive language, there will be more tools and strategies to help manage the anxiety.

So a structured learning environment is key to help offset the anxiety that comes from perceiving the world as a very chaotic place and hopefully lessen the behaviour of head banging.

I could go on and on but I hope this helps. I hope the school where your child goes is implementing the strategies that are known to provide a calm and predictable environment. :)

Medication is for the behaviour component not for speech/language delays or impairments.

But having stated this children who struggle making their wants and needs known can develop associated behavioral issues.

You know, i did mention to you before that you confuse or contradict yourself sometimes.
So to recap, you told me 3 times that Autism means 'speech delays'. Now you tell me it's a behavioral issue?
Can we try again so i can understand what Austism is? I agree with what Daisy said, despite the fact that Google doesn't agree with her.
But i agreed with her explanation and reasoning.
Right now you're muddying the waters again. So, what is Autism? Speech delay or behavioral issue?
