I've been to Christian concerts with big-name Christian artists. And they always feel so freeing to me. The atmosphere is always so nice (sorry if that sounds weird), the message feels like it's being spoken right at you...you can feel the Holy Spirit there!! You can tell they didn't forget why they're doing what they're doing!
2 Corinthians 11:14
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

The bigger you get, the farther you stray...happens quite a bit. Probably is what happened to Joyce Meyer. She got so big she forgot the point of why she even started doing what she's doing.

Not saying this is always the case, because sometimes it is God's will for you to be well-known (not puffed up with pride and full of luxury...I think there's a difference). Just look at Christian artists. God uses them all the time. And even though preachers (not including nor excluding Joyce Meyer. Just talking preachers in general.) and/or Christian artists might have money, they tour a BUNCH. Touring is a lot of things, but not always luxury...especially if you don't like flying or if you get carsick. And that's what ya do when ya tour...ride in buses and fly on planes. You're away from the place you call home...

yeah I've been to some too. i like the ones at the end of the day the people speaking or singing just step off and blend in with others and don't go around proclaiming who they are but just loving people and who place their money back into furthering God's kingdom not lining their pockets or fulfilling their lust.

THe spirit of poverty is a spirit of spiritual lack that affects the person that has it in the natural. Almost every person that is poor, is lacking spiritually as well as financially. So Joyce Meyers is RICH??

Well GOOD FOR HER!! She has proven herself to be worthy of blessings of God and He has blessed her.

AND YOU ARE JEALOUS.

Go figure~~~
This kind of psychobabble makes me nauseous. Why spend time
tearing it up? Ill offer a few of dozens of verses that immediately come to mind.

1 Timothy 6:3-123 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, [even] the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into [this] world, [and it is] certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and [into] many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

2 Peter 2:1-31 But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will also be false teachers among you, who will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing swift destruction upon themselves. 2 And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned; 3 and in their greed they will exploit you with false words; their judgment from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.

apparently this poster would say our obedience to the word of God would give us a spiritual problem.

excellent passages abiding.
this is the kicker:

supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself

pretty much the whole Name it Claim it crowd.

Yes, Satan does...but. Just because someone is well-known, that doesn't mean they're demonic or satanic.

I've been to one recently and one of the bands actually went to us (us meaning my sisters, a friend and I). Us! And they were very friendly, weren't even the slightest bit rude. And they said they liked my name (I have a not so typical real name, and it's sort-of unique.). Well, about 4 different people told me they liked my name lol.

And then, I saw Tenth Avenue North the same night. I felt like they were singing at me! (They did some songs called "This is Where the Healing Begins," "You are More," "Love is Here," etc. Look them up if you want to...they're really good.) And they preached a little bit, and again. It almost seemed like they were speaking to me! It was very freeing to hear them sing and speak...God truly did use them. Even though I may be young, I do know how to discern between what is of God, and what is of the occult.

I'll go ahead and put one of the songs on here. Tenth Avenue North - Love is here - w/lyrics - YouTube

Ok, I actually watched her show this morning. I already knew who she was (tv preacher, author, yadda yadda), but I had never actually seen her or heard anything from her.

I gotta say, based on how she is attacked on this forum, I was expecting something wild or controversial. Seemed like just some good advice with personal testimony thrown in. She's an older lady, so I wasn't surprised to hear that she had some dark stuff in her past that she had overcome. It's not a show I would watch everyday, but I didn't see anything so wrong with her.

I will say this- I can't stand tv preachers in general because no matter how well intentioned or sincere they are, their shows become big advertisements for live performances and their books. They push a lot of product, but THAT is how they make money. They aren't stealing donations or whatever.

Sorry if you see it as hateful. That is not my intention. It's just that when people say stupid stuff, I call them on it.
