The commandments telling a man “you shall not kill “ was given to a murderous ancient people . “Thou shalt not create idols and worship them as gods “ was given to an idolatrous people held as servants in the most idolatrous kingdom in earth at the time . “Thou shalt not steal “ is for thieves . Thou shalt not commit adultery “ is for adulterous people filled with lust and imaginations of fornications .

jesus doesn’t say “ thou shalt not commit adultery . He’s telling believers this stuff to keep them from ever committing adultery and to overcome temptations

The first was the Old Testament commandment the second is the New Testament judgement that convicts the heart before the action can ever take place so we repent before we go far astray and commit adultery .

“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:

( that’s one of the Ten Commandments)

but I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:27-28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

One of these words is internal and can guide the Hearer away from the action that comes from the motivations within but the other is just a guard for a corrupt heart that already lusts and wants to commit adultery it’s just a warning for a sinner who doesn’t have the holy ghost we receive through Christ . A restraint from what thier heart wants thoer body to do the list they are trapped with . The commandment restrains but doesn’t help them or remit the sin it’s just a warning of sin and death like this

The commandment

“Thou shalt not commit adultery.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭20:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

the judgement specific to that commandment

“And the man that committeth adultery with another man's wife, even he that committeth adultery with his neighbour's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.”
‭‭Leviticus‬ ‭20:10‬ ‭

it’s just this sin don’t do it , and here’s what must happen when you do. “

I’m not saying Jesus teaches people to lie and cheat and steal and commit adultery against the ten commandments

. I’m saying a commandment telling man “ don’t kill anyone else “ or you must surely be put to death “

Is part of an Old Testament system for humanity who never was filled with and born again through the Holy Spirit or had thier sins remitted by the blood of Christ . Those commands are meant for humans to try to live a holy life while internally they want to kill and lie and steal so they need a constant word “ hung around thier neck as a reminder “ don’t kill anyone “ don’t lie “ dont steal that other persons belongings “

that’s a good thing a good system , to try to be holy like God by not doing evil things ….before jesus came forth to the world but it’s not Christianity . it’s not the new covenant where there is repentance and remission of sins , new life in the spirit of Christ Jesus , or the promises of eternal salvation. It’s not the lord himself teaching mankind who will believe in him the way and the truth and the life

Its not Jesus teaching us how to live other people Gods way so we actually do fulfill his “ law of love “ as you call it

those ten “ thou shalt nots “those will be automatic in a new born Christian we dont seek to kill and steal and lie and cheat and commit adultery ect . So if we just learn to treat people as Jesus taught. Those commandments will be upheld never even needing to hear “ thou shalt not kill ….of course not I’m commanded to live others of course there’s no killing .

thou shalt not do this thou shalt not do that and don’t ever do this other thing …….that’s not Christian doctrine . It’s good and righteous not to kill or lie and steal but it’s just not our covenant or how god speaks to us .

He’s creating children who are like Jesus who turn the other cheek like Jesus when they smote his cheek . Like Jesus when they mocked and cursed him and persecuted him he blessed and forgave them for thier ignorance.

If Christian’s are struggling with wanting to kill others they really need to learn what Jesus taught , they should already know from societies laws “not to kill or you’ll be punished “

at hey need to know how to treat others rather than not to kill them if that’s the issue they may need some phsycoligical
Help or medications Christian believers who hear Jesus and follow him they don’t want to kill and commit adultery and lie and cheat everyone ect that’s for these folks

“knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane,

for murderers ( thou shalt not kill ) of fathers and murderers of mothers, ( honor mother and fether ) for manslayers, for whoremongers, ( thou shalt not commit adultery )

for them that defile themselves with mankind,

for menstealers,

for liars, ( thou shalt not lie )

for perjured persons, ( thou shalt not bear false witness )

and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭1:9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

It’s just a different testament it’s good for non believers but not for believers we need to let the Thou shalt nots go and turn to the “ do these things Jesus taught “ then killing isnt a worry …stealing isnt a problem … not commiting adultery isnt a struggle it’s a better testament and covenant with god in every way with a better law that heals and teaches rether than condemns and destroys law of the spirit of life rather than law of sin and death

learning to treat others how Jesus taught us to live the rest isn’t a concern

“Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.

For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭13:8-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:14‬ ‭

Treating others the right way in light of Christs live for us all is what’s required
Not disagreeing.

Yes, they claim she was spared the sin of being born after Adam, and the other ex cathedra dogma kind of goes hand-in-hand with this since, being sinless as they claim with no Biblical proof to back such a claim which contradicts other Scriptures, Mary did not need to suffer the pain of death which is the wages of sin, and RCC claims she was bodily assumed to heaven where she hears the prayer of the faithful, although they, the RCC, recently removed her status as co-mediatrix. This is progress...
I remember my mum telling me something it being related to a wrongly interpreted prophecy or something long time ago

Our community was devided into Catholic schools and protestant schools. I was put into the a protestant school, when we played soccer against the catholics

We would beat them all the time, I use to wind them up and call them all Mary. Because in there school play ground they had a statue of Mary. 🤩

If it all wasn't written by the same Holy Spirit, then there isn't a bible that's made by the Holy Spirit.
Either billions of Christians have put their faith in a lie, or there's someone in this thread who's making up a lie.

The Bible is a double edged sword. It will either draw you closer to god and reveal who he is, and how he works through you and in you, or it will lead you away from god. God in his wisdom designed it like this. It is up to us to rightly divide the word of God and discern what is true and not true. God wrote his law on our heart. So when we see in the bible that god caused women to eat the fruit of their womb , and then we see that jesus cast out demons, and then we see that god in the old testament possesses people with demons to gain victory in war we know that this does not line up.

It's a double-edged sword because it kills the spirits of the wicked, and kills the sorrows of the spirits of the righteous.
You have no idea how badly those people in the old testament were transgressing. Moloch often ate the fruit of those womens wombs before they did.

Agreed. Do you call Jesus Lord?

Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Jesus says love your enemies. Quit justifying evil.

God using a "lying spirit" to deceive King Ahab and claiming to have deceived prophets in verses like Ezekiel 14:9. These instances are often interpreted as God using deception as a judgment or a means to accomplish his purposes, especially against those who have rejected him.

Another answer is whilst a person is alive the sword of the spirit is there to save and to convict and to judge the motive of the heart

And the spirit of man will not be destroyed untill God decides. 😉

that open up a whole nother can of worms. If you tying it to Gehenna then our views differ. I hold to the Jewish view which is what Jesus believed as well.

What Jewish view which Jesus believed? So Jesus follows the Jewish view or the other round?
