You know, stationary bike wasn't my favorite thing at PT. I have this opinion that if I'm going to be on a bike I should be going somewhere; however, whenever I start feeling stiff or tightened up the stationary bike at the gym offers immediate relief. It's growing on my list of favorites.

Awesome possum!
It's hard to find anything better than a bike for medium impact exercise. That you ride a bike is a wonderful gift from our Lord.

I took up walking distance.
It's not as interesting as biking, but you can change resistance, pace, incline (be a we have hills.)

The more often you use low impact exercises, you already know the better you feel . Low impact gets up synovial (knee oil) production and keeps wear at a minimum so the body has a chance to heal.

If that's what you have gym membership for, I would think about buying one.
Like Shittim talked about, there are places around that provide low cost bikes for sale.
He already mentioned some.
I'd check around a nearby city for something like THIS.<
It might cost too much for shipping, but Good Will has an auction site that probably has lots of choices.

There's also the option of a regular bike that fits right and setting it up on a bike trainer.
You can use a real bike that you like and go to the store for groceries if you like and the weather is good. When it's time to just relieve stiffness, it can be used in the living room or garage. Just another option.

Prayer and His intervention have made the bad right knee my good knee, my left is the one that needs His healing, I am told bone on bone, yet there is nothing He can't do. I have seen and experienced His miracle healing, and others here as well, how do I appropriate it for this? I know each time I have interaction with a medical staff, Holy Spirit always manifests and I then share His truth to the point I have imparted to a Dr. with success.
At a local blood bank the machine I was hooked up to would shut down every 2 or 3 seconds, they tried everything, finally phlebotomist reached for it saying, I guess all we can do is stop. As she reached I said "wait. let me pray", I got done we had already gone past the precious shut down point, they were both wide eyed and jaws dropped as I spoke what He gave, "it will work now", I then had a captive audience to share and witness to, still do when I go there, one staff who recognizes me will poke another and they will both look with eyes wide open and jaws dropped, like they have never seen Him do something in front of them. If we step out for Him as He desires, He will always be there.

yeah, I found it interesting when at PT the therapist put me on the tread mill and gave it an incline. I was like "Well why the incline? What's the difference between hoping on and going or hoping on and giving it incline?"
She explained how the incline created the resistance and was targeting the specific muscle group I needed to work on.
Now if I'm not doing incline on the treadmill I feel like I'm not challenging myself, like I'm almost doing nothing but walking (which I could just go do on the flat track).

We were given a gift of family membership for the Y; it's great for my kids.
We have some equipment at home, but it makes for a good clothing rack
Plus, (at this time in my life) I'm more likely to use the gym than I am to do it at home.
Now I just have to get myself back in the habit of going.

2 brothers, cousins of mine had a weight set, after a while aunt noticed she was the only one getting exercise as she moved them to dust. :giggle::giggle::giggle::):coffee::unsure:

Amen!

If you are donating blood, why not consider PRP. There are Integrative/Naturopathic physicians who inject your own concentrated blood components into injured areas. For many it speeds healing. PRP/Platelet Rich Therapy is one of a number of ways that have helped athletes and those with arthritis to recover quicker from injury.

I've never heard of any orthopedic Dr say anything but bone on bone. I've also heard non surgical MDs tell me that 100% bone on bone has never been seen by them, ie Dr Martin Galegher. He explained that it's actually damage that causes roughness of the surface. If there's any cartilage left it can regrow as well as the skinned knee from falling. The cartilage takes a lot longer. He has a website last I checked goes into some details.

When my knees are sore from hard use, I never went to an Ortho to have them removed for tens of thousands of dollars. No doubt every one would shake their head 🤔 and lament that
"The x-rays show you have bone on bone and the only option is knee replacement surgery. But since you don't want that, I will give you a steroid 💉 anti-inflammatory and pain killers."

Every person I've talked to said that the Dr never told them that those chemicals cause connective tissue/cartilage degradation.

If I learned that the mechanic I took my car to get the oil changed put some water or cutting fluid in with the oil, so I would have to come back and trust his word to replace the engine, I would not be a happy camper. Ive looked at someones X-ray after their Dr said sorry, there's no cartilage left, just bone on bone.

When I asked for the X-ray and pointed out the clear delineation of cartilage, the surgeon ignored me, took the old lady by the hand, dropped to one knee as if to propose marriage. Then with his other hand he stroked hers and gave her his spiel with loving eyes that she only ever seen in a melodramatic soap opera.

Guess what?
Rather than so much as trying a joint supplement for a period of time, she decided to disregard my warning about the risks of surgery. After all those supplements won't touch an old lady's heart like a handsome young surgeon can.
She almost died while in surgery.
Then she nearly died of dehydration in recovery. Then she nearly died of asphyxiation from the drug effects at the nursing home while staff looked on. She told them she can't breath, help me and the just stood their and watched for minutes before calling for help.

Sorry this is turning into a book, but I care. The thing surgeons care about is making 🤑 money and as much as they can get their greedy hands on. 💰💰💰

Sadly, i was told by a young Dr. I dated if a surgeon wants to make a lot of money they do knee and hip replacements as they can do 3 a day, eye surgery is a one a day surgery as it takes so much more out of the surgeon to preform them safely and successfully.

Here's the site. It's just some other options that I don't have any affiliation with or push for people to do. I've not done it myself but like to let people know that there are less evasive and non evasive options. Full replacement is the highest risk but 99% are wrongly told it's their only option.

I know what you mean.
You know what I'm talking about all too well then.
One girlfriend was an orthopedic nurse.

There's been a lot of people that trust them to have nothing but a pure heart and the patients best interests in mind. Hospitals are factories for that.

Learned a lot from her, also how and why drs. don't testify against other Drs., "You never know when you might need them".

The medical Mafia says "Trust me, would I lie to you?" Right after they say roll up your sleeve, this Covid Shot won't hurt a bit."
😈🤌💉

The same with lawyers too.
It's a big club and we aren't in it.

George Carlin! Loved him!
Knew a young lady who sang in the band that toured with him, she said she could tell when he was on the straight and narrow and when he was straying for the path.
She was a wonderful and faithful Christian lady, still is.

Two more points.
I understand painful joints and desperation to get relief. I just decided to never get cortisone shots. The Drs know they lead to joint replacement amputations. I use that term because that's whate essential is done. They make it sound like an ingrown toenail procedure to sell you on the high dollar surgeries.

Instead of glucosamine cream, try to find a good quality glucosamine dietary supplement with HA/ hyaluronic acid. The HA provides the raw material for synovial fluid lubrication.
The glucosamine and other things provide what's necessary for cartilage repair. That only happens from the inside.

Now write this down on a shopping list and a journal and date it. Thank me later if you experience relief. It's literally worth it's weight in gold because the alternative would cost you an arm and a leg.
Well, here I am 9ish months later.

The knee that I had the shot in is still feeling pretty good, which I smile about since the Dr. said "Don't know how long it will last for you... maybe 3 months? Maybe 6, a year? Just don't know" and well, I just really didn't like that Dr (there's a whole story behind that, but that's for another time). My other knee I have overcompensated using it for so many years and now that the 'bad' one is good, I'm feeling all the aches and pains in the other, plus a recent slight injury to it isn't helping.

I was starting to wonder if I need to go see a different ortho dr, but really don't want to. I don't shop online, and haven't really remembered to look for HA while at the store. But I finally thought about it last night and looked it up online. I found MOVE FREE with the HA, as well as MSM, glucosamine, and chondroitin. I remember as a teen after injuring my knee that the dr or physical therapist had mentioned the MSM, glucosamine, and chondroitin. My mom used to get them for me, but she got each one separate and they were horse pills, and I wasn't happy taking 6+ horse pills daily! As i got older and on my own I never gave thought to it, and when I did look at the stores a few times I found it with joint supplements in the sections I (wrongly, young and dumb) considered "Old people meds"...
Well, I'm 40+ now! I'm getting there

I decided I really don't want to go see a dr for this if possible, so why not try some things on my own first? So, I went and bought some MOVE FREE today and am excited to start it. And just realized I know I'm getting older when the excitement of my day is starting a new, promising supplement.:ROFL:

Physical therapy has been helping a lot, oh and that special KT tape they sometimes tape me up with (gotta get me some of the durable water proof kind so it will hold up in the pool better)

I saw your 👍 and am reminded of this good thread. I hope you are feeling better.

As I see from the post about PT,
Light activities involving the inflamed joints usually helps.
For instance, walking gets the joint to produce the God given lubricant as long as we eat His foods that the body utilizes to produce synovial fluid. They usually say to do to tolerance. Just ask the PT trainer.

Further more, the joint swelling typically reduces. Again, some foods are inflammatory and others anti-inflammatory. The drug companies don't have a monopoly on that.
I had to confess to the Lord earlier that I sowed to the flesh and reaped the corruption of painful inflamed knees and hips the last couple of nights. It affected my sleep and I got sick because of my personal choice of eating too much ice cream at once. I must have been hungry when I did instead of a scoop after a healthy dinner. There were no immediate consequences, but it happened when disbiosis of the intestinal bacteria occurred. The bacteria that grow from high sugar consumption put off inflammatory chemicals and waste that causes pain in the body. I'm explaining this because grains do this too with a percentage of the population.
I knew better, but instead of spreading that ice cream over a couple of weeks after meals, I finished it off in a couple of days.
If I asked an MD, he would write Rxs for chemicals that mask the pain and reduce inflammation temporarily, but:
A. Don't get to the root of the problem. Not would he ask for a food diary or changes.
B. Whatever brings the most $ but won't be against the established protocol. Ie hip and knee amputation. Is it better to make personal changes, or start replacing the anatomy which also requires much more healing?
I personally want to correct my choices when I mess up and do something that empowers my body to be healed.

It's a personal example that might be something to consider as I would point out to everyone.
I hate to see anyone suffer when the Lord provides solutions.

There are other things to consider, but this personal example hits home. Instead of being too embarrassed to admit it publicly, I would rather others be helped.

Be blessed
