Well this might sound weird to many of you, but in my culture it's improper for a girl to initiate a relationship. I just figured out that in other cultures it's okay for a girl to stand on her ground & say "hey dude i think am falling for you n i would like you to be my boyfriend" So guys, what's your take on this? I am just curious i really want to know.

As a girl, I think it should be the guy who initiates the relationship, thought I have been the one to do it in the past, but I think it should be the guy.

I prefer to initiate it myself and if the girl is interested then I prefer her not to run away. That sends mixed signals. Because as crazy as it may sound, running away says, "You scare me," not "I'm interested in you."

The Lord initiates. You just submit your life, and, everything in it, seek Him, and, everything shall be added to you , as KayM points out in her marriage compatibility thread .

I agree. Its not about who initiates, its about how God leads them and initiates the relationship Himself. (And blesses the relationship in the long run)

Hmm... this question is back again?
It doesn't matter who. There is no biblical basis for a man having to ask out a woman. It is a purely man made, cultural idea. I think it's ridiculous to risk losing out on what could be a great relationship over some silly idea that its wrong that a woman speak up first. No thanks, i'd rather find that person, even if she spoke up first, than miss it all together.

Thanks everyone for your responses. Someone said God Initiates relationships, that's very true & everybody knows that. But after God has played His part, then whose responsibility is it to say, "hey look i love you and i would like you to be my life partner"? Well am not taking sides but this is what i think, i think it all falls back to tradition, God created Eve from Adam's rib. In the presence of God, It's Adam who first communicated to Eve & said, "this at last is bone of my bones & flesh of my flesh she shall be called woman 'coz she was taken out of man" Genesis 2;23.

I do think a man should initiate a relationship. How is he going to lead and guide a family if he can't take the lead from the beginning? However, a few hints from a lady is never a bad thing.;)

I get the impression some women who innitiate a relationship come to this same conclusion half way through the relationship.

Your relationship with God will initiate the relationship and, TRUST me on this, IF you are right with God in your life then when you boldly go.up to a girl , or, vice versa, the situation will work out great because God will initiate the everything. Girl, guy initiatng, it will not matter, and, it should not matter, just submit to God your life and the rest willl simply unfold :). His timing is key and your being ready, without that, God will NOT allow yoy to go out with guy/girl, let alone start/initiate a relationship, which you DON'
T want to happen anyway IF God is not showing you SIGNS of supporting what you are doing .
:)

Mmm. Yeah, I know relationships that God is against will not last. But I suppose it's nice to have his active participation in one as well.

I guess, tradition states that us guys have to. But, that isn't always the case.

Who initiates a relaltionship is ia a boy or girl?

Is it always the boy who makes a friend with the girl? Or is it the girl who approaches the boy? I've seen kids do this on many occasions, and it dosen't matter to them when they ask: Wanna be friends?

There's an interplay in effect. It takes two to initiate the relationship, the male is usually the one to vocalize it...or try to.

I agree, but I think it would help to explain it a bit more.

You will have God's active paticipation in the relationship, syncing things in a believably beautiful way IF you allow Him to initiate the relationship :)

Brando, in my post above aristocat's post, my (God speaking through me ALWAYS) explanation should be clear :)

Agreed. We're humans and relationships don't guide themselves by a handbook. Whatever works for people, is what works.
