May Jesus bless you.

The Lord said that whoever is greatest among you, let him be your servant.

Jesus Christ was greatest among us, so he was our servant. Yes, he is King and Lord, but he debased himself as a servant. It his calling to all of us to do the same.

But when we became servants we wanted to know God more and more. Then I came to a crossroads. There is a road there, from servant to son. I am not sure I have crossed that road yet, but I am sure it is possible. As he promised. A servant is not an heir, but the son is. If you are not a son you are a servant, and you do not abide in the house forever.

Jesus wants to take you to where he is, indeed, you can't get there by your own merit or strength, but you can by his Spirit!!! For some, God being among us is too much for them to behold. His name was called Emmanuel.

There are such as Holy men and Holy women, and there are such as unholy men and unholy women, who pervert the ways of holiness and righteousness and justice.

In Romans 8 that I posted, it reveals what we are talking about also.

May Jesus bless you.

One thing about being a son is he is servant to all but he owns everything.

...I don't think anyone is arguing against the words Christ Himself spoke. Not as far as I can tell, anyway.

The problem I'm seeing with this is that people are saying that if we are not perfect as God is perfect, then we are not God's children, and that we are following our own 'gods'.

And I'm still not understanding why we need to be covered by grace if it's possible to BE EXACTLY LIKE JESUS...because it still sounds to me like if we can BE EXACTLY LIKE JESUS, then....WE DON'T NEED JESUS.

We are supposed to TRY to be Christ-like. We are to STRIVE to be Christ-like. The fact that it isn't HUMANLY POSSIBLE TO BE PERFECT AS CHRIST WAS PERFECT is no excuse to go out and sin, but it is WHY WE NEED CHRIST.

Am I yelling...?

Maybe I should have a burger.
Amen it isnt humanly possible to be perfect even as He is perfect. That is why we who have to deny that human self and put on His PSirit and are not of this flesh, we are of His Apirit which is perfect. Born again a setting asides self and put on His SPirit who is Christ in you.

IN JESUS.....THEY CAN'T DESCRIBE WHAT THAT REALLY MEANS....THEY MEAN THEY ARE DEITY.

ONCE FOR ALL, for those who care what God really said, not the NEW BREED who will wax worse and worse: and as Washer, Piper, Sproul and most MATURE christians on this site have tried to warn are DESTROYING lives and shipwrecking faith by TEACHING MAN BECOMING GOD.

they abuse Romans 8. they abuse every reference to COMMANDMENTS given by God Incarnate who KNOWS men will not be PERFECT until they are GLORIFIED and EVEN THEN WILL NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER BE DEITY

Be ye therefore perfect ... - The Saviour concludes this part of the discourse by commanding his disciples to be "perfect." This word commonly means "finished, complete, pure, holy." Originally, it is applied to a piece of mechanism, as a machine that is complete in its parts. Applied to people, it refers to completeness of parts, or perfection, where no part is defective or wanting.

Thus, Job JObadiah 1:1 is said to be "perfect;" that is, not holy as God, or "sinless" - for fault is afterward found with him Job 9:20; Job 42:6; but his piety was "proportionate" - had a completeness of parts was consistent and regular. He exhibited his religion as a prince, a father, an individual, a benefactor of the poor. He was not merely a pious man in one place, but uniformly. He was consistent everywhere. See the notes at that passage. This is the meaning in Matthew. Be not religious merely in loving your friends and neighbors, but let your piety be shown in loving your enemies; imitate God; let your piety be "complete, proportionate, regular." This every Christian may be; this every Christian must be...
Barnes'

............................

Be ye therefore perfect, as your Father,.... This perfection is to be restrained to the subject Christ is upon, love to men, and not to be referred to any, or every other thing; wherefore, in Luke 6:36 it is, "be ye merciful, as your Father also is merciful"; and regards not a perfection of degree in that, but objects and quality: that is to say, not that men may, or can, or ought to be as perfect in love, as to the degree of it, as God is; that is impossible: the "as" here, is not a note of equality, but of likeness: such, who profess God to be their Father, ought to imitate him, particularly in their love to men, which ought to be extended to the same objects, as the divine goodness is; that, as he shows regard in a providential way to all men, good and bad, just and unjust, and his tender mercies are over all his works; so ought they to love all men with a natural affection, and hate no man, no, not their enemies: for he that loves only his friends, and not his enemies, loves imperfectly; he does not take in the whole compass of objects his love is to extend unto; and as God loves sincerely, and without dissimulation, so should they. To be "perfect", is to be sincere and upright: in this sense is the word often used, and answers to the Hebrew word which signifies the same: see Deuteronomy 18:13 which is the passage Christ seems to refer to here; and the sense is, be ye sincere and upright in your love to all men, as your heavenly Father is hearty and sincere in his affections to them.
Gill

.............................

48. Be ye therefore-rather, "Ye shall therefore be," or "Ye are therefore to be," as My disciples and in My kingdom.
perfect-or complete. Manifestly, our Lord here speaks, not of degrees of excellence, but of the kind of excellence which was to distinguish His disciples and characterize His kingdom. When therefore He adds, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect-He refers to that full-orbed glorious completeness which is in the great Divine Model, "their Father which is in heaven."
JFB

....................................

Lastly, Our Saviour concludes this subject with this exhortation (v. 48), Be ye therefore perfect, as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Which may be understood, 1. In general, including all those things wherein we must be followers of God as dear children. Note, It is the duty of Christians to desire, and aim at, and press toward a perfection in grace and holiness, Phil. 3:12-14. And therein we must study to conform ourselves to the example of our heavenly Father, 1 Pt. 1:15, 16. Or, 2. In this particular before mentioned, of doing good to our enemies; see Lu. 6:36. It is God's perfection to forgive injuries and to entertain strangers, and to do good to the evil and unthankful, and it will be ours to be like him. We that owe so much, that owe our all, to the divine bounty, ought to copy it out as well as we can.
MHC

I DO NOT KNOW HOW MANY TIMES WE MUST MAKE THIS DISTICTION BETWEEN THE PERFECTION OF THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE GOD ALIGHTY THE I AM and what Jesus expects of His peopele:

The difference in the god you serve and the one I serve is, you make your god what you want him to be by your laws for tradition. The one I serve is in CHrist we are formed into His image to be like Him. That is the difference in who you serve and who I serve.

If the god you serve is what youant of him then go for it, But as for me, Christ is formed in me.

do you judge me imperfect Ramon?

Do you place upon me envy and bitterness?

I find neither in my heart.

God has given me all I need to do the good works He has assigned me in this life. He has given me His love. What more do I need?

why would I envy? What is there to be bitter about Ramon?

what sin do you hold to my account?

what sin can you accuse me of, when JESUS has washed me clean?

I am free in Christ. can you say the same?

Best I remember from you is that it is you who said we cant be perfect, not Ramon. I agree with you, you cant be. But we in Christ are, you cant be a sinner and be perfected in Christ. And you cant be without sin and not be in Christ in you, That is impossible. It is one or the other but not both.

Without scripture you are doing nothing more than trying to cause division.
Yet He did come to bring a sword. So be it. We know who we belong to
and who are His. And can understand who is gathering or scattering.

Yes, by God's grace, I will be sin free IN THIS LIFE! BECAUSE THE ETERNAL LIFE OF CHRIST WILL BE FULLY IN ME! AND NOT THE OLD LIFE!!

Exactly either one is in Christ or he is in sin, it is impossible to be in both, In Christ there is no sin, it is outside Christ that one is a sinner. Confusion spawn by this is by one being without the Christ.

YOU.
the accuser of christ's church.
WHAT ARROGANCE.

there are a million guys likes you out there.
not one will go to church, not one will agree they are sinners.

see this?

1 John 1:8

New Living Translation (©2007)
If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.

King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Read on, 1 John 3:5-9. Christ came to take away the sins of this world. If one is in sin he doent know Him at all V6. If you are a sinner then you are of the devil, V8. V9 it is impossible to be in sin and be in Christ.

All have sinned and fall short, sinned is past participle. In Christ there is no sin at all. it is outside Christ that you are a sinner. Christ in you assures you of no sin, it is impossible as 1 John 3:9 states.

May I ask you someting, I am very curious. Why would you lift up sin that it has more power over the one who takes away your sin? Why would you do that?

show me one post where I said that.

you can twist and wriggle but you won't find one. you might be able to dig up someone accusing me of believing that or lump me with others who have stated it.

Show me a post.

I do not preach that sin is good. I state that grace is required for all.

I say all are called to be perfect in love, grace and mercy to others and themselves as GOD is to them.

I state that to be perfect as GOD is perfect in love is something for all to strive to be.

I state to strive to be perfect in KNOWLEDGE and POWER as God is, is folly and worse.

I say that all should learn to give forgiveness as freely as God gives to each who ask Him with truly repentant hearts.

Oh, then I apploigize, I may have you mixed up with someone else.
The gift of God is Christ in you. If one have that then there is no striving, it is a gift that you cant earn. Perfection is in Christ, not trying to be in Christ. You can try and not sin but if you break even one of the laws you are guilty of all of them, that is why in Christ we are not under those stipulations placed on the flesh man, carnality. Perfected in His SPirit. The gift of God that you simply cannot earn but recieve in your being as one with Him.

Every born again believer knows this already, why are you going around the same old mountain as to emphasize that we don''t have what you have.

Yes a born again has the mind of Christ, is as He is, one with Him, same perfection same everything. and knows all that Christ knows.

Because some arent making it all the way around that same ole mountain. Denying the perfection of the Christ in you. And we will go round and round it until one gets tired and gives up or maks the trip for himself.

I should apologize to you too.

I don't agree with the way you use the words Christ or Begotten, your stance on Heaven and the resurrection, but i see nothing wrong with your mantra that all should have the HOLY Spirit within them and allow God's perfect work to be done in their life.

A born again person does not have the mind of Christ. That comes from renewing the mind. Which comes from
study and growing in knowledge and grace. Being transformed. It is a process not a one time event. Although
we have to be active in it its a work of the Holyspirit. There is a difference between our standing and state.

Gary who was Jesus before He was baptised by john?
He always was Jesus, son of man, son of Mary and Joseph. Made of a woman born under the law, just as we all are. Without the reproduction of flesh there would be none.

Jesus taught the law in the temples at a young just as a lot of us have, but he didnt know Gods heaven until God came to the man and opend it to him in Matt 3:16 just as he does in all who reieve from Him the same.

do you believe in the Virgin birth?

Luke 1

26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”[c]
29 But when she saw him,[d] she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was. 30 Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31 And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name JESUS. 32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David. 33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
34 Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
35 And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.
36 Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing will be impossible.”
38 Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her.

You make it sound as if its a immediate transformed mind into Christ and that is where the trouble is. as one but as the Word says that we grow in knowledge from a babe (someone new in Christ) to a warrior in Christ.

Thus you are NOT transformed immediately but it takes time to perfection in Christ.

1 Peter 2:2
Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation.

Christ in us is PERFECT but it takes TIME to mature into His Spirit that dwells in our heart. It's not KABOOM and WHOLA now you are perfect NO it is not so.
