In this sermon we get clear insight where the doctrine of total depravity originates from, some 1000 years before John Calvin, from saint Augustine.
We also get clear insight into what it means what it entails and why we need to understand it. As if we understand the t in tulip the rest of tulip just falls into place very easily.
Key points original sin does not mean we inherit the original sin but because of the first mans.sins our nature became corrupted.
No one is perfect we are all sinners because of our sinful nature.
Total depravity does not mean a person can be as wicked as they can possibly can, be but rather it effects the whole nature of a person, including his will and his capacity to think because his nature has become weakened and darkened.
The will of man is no longer in it's pristine state.of moral power, but the will of man is now in bondage and enslaved to the impulses of heart that become corrupted by evil intentions of the original sin, where by the mind and soul has become infected by the power of sin.
The sermon goes on to say most would agree where fallen and fallen is a serious thing,
The debate then goes onto focus on how far mankind has fallen.
His viewpoint goes as far to say he changes the t in tulip to say radical corruption, on the idea that radical is something that means it permeates to the core of the things, core meaning the heart, and sin being something that comes from the heart.
He then goes on to suggest the only cure is nothing less than renovation and regeneration and being quickened by the spirit.
Heres the very insightful sermon in my view point spoken with great Care and empathy for those who are fallen
