That's funny, but no I have no choice but to listen to them here, there doctrines springs up a 100 times a day and get shoved down your throat.

What happened, I asked blake if you were cool to have a discussion with, he said yes and were good guy.
I just asked you for scripture to support what you stated, next thing you know i said something i didn't, and I'm catholic?

I was legitimately wondering if you could support what you said. I looked at it myself, so don't worry about it.

Im all ears to those who want to listen these days, I've come to conclusion there an inner calling that goes through the outer calling to those who can listen, but as it stands me and you and cool,

But how long that will last is dependent on how long you keep saying I haven't done something when I have.

So far you haven't given me much confident that you even want to listen, RC Sproul makes his teaching fully understandable to understand, explains in detail scripture, and reassures with confidence, is class listen, they take notes, they all look like there enjoying themselves and relaxed. nothing is forced, everything thing is taught with questions that oppose and answered with courtesy and respect for those who can't understand, and get things wrongs,

There isn't any animosity in his speech, and if people are unwilling to listen, there's only so long I can be cool about that.

In this sermon we get to understand the importance of having assurance of salvation, how you can have assurance, and how you can know you have assurance. From RC Sproul approaching his pension years 🙂

Key point to the sermon

People will know inside if there saved or not.

Which when you think about it, its suggesting the decision of knowing is more important than not knowing, and definitely something that comes from believing of being made to know by conscience for everybody and absolutely everybody by God.

From the speaker there is big request to seek that assurance of salvation.

There is definitely a way of having assurance of salvation. And there is a most definitely a call from God to seek that assurance of salvation through his word.

A bit of wit

There are four kinds of people in the world

There are those people who can count and those who can't, of course this is a bit of wit when adding up, but it certainly counts in adding up Gods word.

But we must not discriminate the four types of different people the speaker says with all conviction , 🙂

As the adding up is done by a state of conscience between the person and God.

A person can know there unsaved for sure by there conscience and vice versa.

Theres many good points raised

Here's the sermon

Morning Jordan,

The seeking assurance teaching he said is on #2. Any chance you could put that one up?

If I'm going to give you a discernment on this teaching, I'll need to see that one.

What i promise not to do is make discernments on RC himself. Even if I listen to a few teachings of his, it wouldn't give me a good understanding of his teachings as a whole
I know what it's like to put yourself out there by giving up your teacher, and have a group of those who disagree with you, trample the gift God has given you. I won't do that.

I need #2 on "seeking assurance " series.

I can see what draws people to him, out of the 100s of teachers ive listened to and discerned, RC never crossed my path. When I found the teacher God gave to me, I stopped looking.

Morning Jordan,

I'm not understanding what your asking or really saying here or from your last post

OK Jordan,
I'm in agreement with his teachings on election. Would like to hear more about where he says, faith comes before justification (which i agree with) but never defined what he understands faith to be.

He continues on to say called = elect ( which is good) but then he says elect = justification, without faith in between.

I need to know what his understanding of NT saving faith is. Do you have a cut where he gives that. I don't want to get through all these teachings and not know that.

I like where his head is at, explaining the salvation process. I shared my understanding in the A,B,C's of faith thread. I just need to know exactly what he understands saving faith to be. Can you help with that.

My teacher was famous for using a chalkboard. It morphed into whiteboards, then multiple white boards. I googled it, Rc was first in the 70s, my teacher started that in the early 80s. My teacher was a Stanford alumni and prop. But it looks like RC was the first Bible teacher to introduce the chalkboard. Good for him.

Just episode #2 in his seeking assurance series. Isn't that what you put up?
You asked me to put it up for a reason.

I'm not understanding your reason, but as your in discernment I can only think why should you need to seek assurance if your assured.

All his sermons give understanding to that concern.

One being you can know you have grace, but be unsure of your assurance, ie became of the immediate state of regeneration, may not be complete assurance. As many people are unsure of what has actually taken place internally.

I believe in Roman Catholic history not knowing they can't have complete assurance leads to something called stigmata

Can use give me his understanding of what saving faith is. I have a little better idea of it from the post 1 teaching. But if you could put his understanding on that I'd appreciate it.

loving Christ and having affection for Christ

Is RC your primary instructor?

Are you sure that's how he defines saving faith?
he defines it many ways as he gets 1000s of questions,

But the way he defines it the most is with assurance, which is something we can all relate to.

It's not who he is to me, it's more about how he goes to great length to investigate all objective truths, is commitment is considered honourable, as he choice to give sermons on his final few weeks of his life whilst suffering chronic lung disease, basically he knew he never had long to live. But that never stopped his devotion, which says to me he wasn't about himself.

Ok, thanks Jordan.
You've answered my questions.
May God direct your passion for truth straight and tight.

you also, I'll have to get some silver bullets tho, just in case i bump into some obstacles a long the way, like the lone ranger, and then it's a case of high of ho silver coz silver bullets don't kill.

RC sproul was a big fan of the lone ranger. 😋

Saving faith.... know you are a sinner, and led by conviction from Jesus as God.. believe on Jesus Christ as risen Saviour, God.

Thats not calvinism..and not really armenianism, seeing it is eternally secure.

Or, we could just look up the definition of saving faith in the Vines Greek dictionary.
"A personal surrender to Him and a life inspired by such surrender, " but that would be to easy.

The wrong ideas exist that's the truth.

Saving faith in it's true essence is a gift.

The saving part before receiving the gift, is something rx Sproul fully addresses, that everyone is made aware through conscience, all are made aware, all know what it means to repent.

All get a calling.

Well, 'repent' is a 'change of mind, heart'.. not a behavioral reversal.

God repented of the work He done to Israel at one stage.. that was a change of mind.. not a behavioral turnaround. That was a definition of repent before the NT.

Then, in the NT.. it says you not saved by works, but the regeneration power of the Holy Spirit.

So repent in the NT is the change of mind, heart, by the power of the Holy Spirit.. not by a person's continual behaviour.
