After knowing you for a long time and seeing your interactions with others both online (in real-time chats) and in-person...

I would guess that one of the reasons is because (from what I've observed,) people in management and leadership positions tend to have a triage system when sending out alerts. They prioritize the people who come to mind first, and those are often the ones they have the closest relationships with and/or are seen as most vital to the operation -- which can also possibly mean, the loudest.

Leadership has a tendency to feel the need to cater to the ones who will throw the biggest fusses (not in all cases, but in many,) holler at the most people, or will be most likely to walk away.

You are none of those types. You don't make a big fuss about anything unless you think something is blatantly wrong (and even then, you're more likely to only make a fuss if it's affecting others, not yourself.) And you are certainly not someone who quits or walks away.

In other words... I think most of those people see you as being least like to become a casualty, therefore, by the time they've expended the energy on everyone else, well... They figure you'll let it pass. Which, from what I've seen, is very true. You try not to raise a fuss and just give it your all anyway because that's who you are. And I don't know if you'd even think raising a fuss about it would be worth the stress, whether to you, or to them.

If it's any consolation, when I'm wrestling with a chat or thread idea I just can't seem to iron out, planning on being somewhere and seeing if anyone else can be, too, or have some kind of Bible teaching or passage I've just read and hashing out, you are one of the very first people I think of -- immediately.

Shoot, whenever I say I'm going to see if "anyone will be around" a place I have to travel to, my mother always asks about you.

So rest assured that in some circles... Well.

What's that old Biblical principle we all know by heart?

In some circumstances, the last -- most definitely become first. :)
When the only time you hear from people is when they need support for a fundraiser, a bake sale, a new social media push, or a struggling side hustle, it can feel a little one-sided—but it also highlights how crowded and noisy the digital world has become. In that landscape, an this AI-powered business setup platform steps in to change the dynamic by helping creators and small businesses build real momentum instead of constantly asking their circles for favors.

I have learned being an introvert that the loudest people get heard, and sometimes you need to be rude and interrupt people to be heard.

The other thing is small businesses need to promote themselves, because they don't have a marketing team behind them (or people they can hire to do it for them). I think everyone is trying to get by in this economy, but it also annoys me that people think I am richer than I actually am and always have spare disposable income to support others.

Also MLMs are scammy. They suck people in and make them turn into pushy, manipulative salespeople. Selling expensive things you don't need.

interrupt! holy heavens, i think i'd win an award for not interrupting & condoning 2 brothers for their constant incessant talk. talk, talk, talk, with them! so selfish of them.

Honestly this is exactly how I feel and have felt for years. Someone always wanting something. I’ve chosen to cut those people off completely or not even bother entertaining them to begin with. It is a shame that so-called Christian’s aren’t just reaching out to check on how you are without any false motives. I see it more and more. And it’s also why I choose not to be on social media at all. The world is so consumed with wealth and our doing one another. It’s almost shamed on to help someone just to help. And if they do they need to get admiration for it. I don’t think you’re wrong for staying in your little corner. Jesus spend many of his days alone by himself praying and thinking. People often forget this. Jesus was quite content by himself. When your gut is telling you it feels wrong you’re probably right. Don’t feel guilty by not spending more or donating. You don’t even know where it’s actually going most of the time. I feel ya Seoul on every level with this one.

How do we (especially singles) sidestep those who just want to use us for their own causes?

I'm pretty careful about who/what I donate to. The closer I can donate to the need the better. Most of the time I don't have a problem saying no to charity requests. I don't need to explain my no but if I do it's I have my favorite organizations to donate to and I stick with those, and I've researched them and am comfortable with how they'll be using my donation.

I will donate to neighborhood kids if they ask for whatever it is they're involved in. Often I'll just give them some money in lieu of buying whatever it is they're selling.

I have a strong dislike for retail establishments that don't let you complete a sale without asking you to round up or offer a selection of donation amounts for whatever cause they're supporting. One time I accidentally pressed the wrong button and a donation was included in my charge. I immediately demanded the charge be cancelled and redone. Anymore there are very few transactions where an additional donation isn't requested. I give to my church. I give to the local organization that provides assistance to pregnant women who need assistance. I give to a Veterans organization I'm involved with. Rarely do I give to any other organization. I did give a donation to this Board and to another I'm involved with.

I have an old friend, and actually had the kind of opposite problem. She's always asking me to go out with her and have coffee, or a restaurant meal, and when I didn't have a car, it was a bit of a hassle, because I had to catch the bus, and it was always on her timetable, and then she would cancel at the last minute and my day would be ruined, because I eked out time for her.

She couldn't just call me and have a chat? And then she would say she was running out of money on her mobile phone. She wouldn't offer to shout me a cuppa or pay for my restaurant meal either, and money was tight. She did this so many times and I just ran out of patience. How awful it is to reject a friend like this. Half the time when we did arrange something..she only stayed for 15 minutes or so or vaped or made an excuse to leave.

So actually it would be a relief if she didn't phone me at all. I had to just not answer her calls as I can't even block her on my phone. It says it can, but she gets through on the voicemail. Talking to her doesn't do anything, because she'll ask forgiveness, and then do it again the next time.

Unicef, strangers I don't know, tried to guilt me into donating, like $30 a month for the rest of my life. I just said, I'm on the benefit (welfare) and all my income is actually going on keeping me and my dad and my cat fed.

It's sad that children are starving elsewhere in the world, but charity begins at home.

Hi Seoul, how have you been lately?
It is the perfect opportunity to share Christ or Scriptures however it's annoying to be used and reused. But because I am a Christian and seeking to heal many with the word I stand to be used

I am actually trying to fundraise for my garden club, by selling packets of seeds with this get 15% fundraiser, but we have to sell 100 packets and I'm not sure we can sell that many. I don't like asking people to buy something they may not be interested in, so am trying to be selective on who I approach. Many people just don't have the time or space to garden anymore.
I wish we didn't have to do this, but times are tough, and we may not make ends meet this year.

The other fundraiser I did a few years ago, the profits were much better, like 30%. It was flower bulbs. And we could sell as many or as few as we liked there was no minimum.
