The sabbath is not the gospel.

We preach Christ crucified not some law in the O.T.

Worshipping our Creator is part of the everlasting gospel and that points us to the Sabbath, which is a reminder of who made us and who made everything we enjoy daily, but probably take for granted. It is resting in His creative and redemptive work, everything He does for us without us.

If not keeping Shabbat is equivalent to "idolatry" then Shabbat breaking is (what some Churches call) a "mortal sin" which is defined as a gravely sinful act which can lead to damnation if a person does not repent of the sin before death. However, when I read Jesus' description of what a person will be called into account for in the Last Judgment I read nothing whatsoever about keeping Shabbat.

So you believe a person who does not following "every jot and tittle" of the Law will obtain no mercy from God when they appear before Him in the final judgment. However, if they simply refrain from work on Shabbat they WILL be able to enter into eternal life.
From what Jesus taught, I have always assumed that salvation was conditioned upon REPENTANCE and (personal) FAITH in Jesus. Was this not the Good News referred to in prophecy? This was the salvation Jesus and his disciples proclaimed to the world?
