The purpose of the law was to define and expose sin. No one has a changed heart because of the law which was and is an instrument of death.
Jas 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

LAW OF LIBERTY..

Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. 8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. 9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. 10 And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death. 11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. 12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. 13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

Read this a few times and let the true meaning sink in....

The sin = death, not the law.
"Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid."

Accepting Jesus is what changes our hearts. God's salvation is available to all who believe Jesus' death on the cross was suffered for their sins.
True Jesus = salvation from sin.

Just because we are guilty of sin, should we continue to sin? Are we free to sin?

My faith is in Jesus Christ and His ability to SAVE FROM SIN. I do not believe that Jesus wants to take away the consequences of sin but leave us practicing sin. Does your faith believe in the complete salvation or partial salvation?

So prove it by Scripture, show me where Jesus is the New Covenant and not what He said it is His laws being written in the heart and mind. Its easy to make accusations and sadly people have Ph.d.'s here with that, but its another to actually prove it.

Prove that myself and no one else ever said that Jesus is the covenant. You deny scripture and make the truth into a distorted and false message.

We all see that is what you do. Very dishonest.

You have no respect for others here that have provided the truth about the New Covenant through Jesus multiple of multiple times. You know that has been done many times. You are not being honest about that and refuse to reply to scripture that shows and has shown what you pretend to ask for.

Pretty much done with your lack of honesty and game playing. I don't know what you think you are doing when everyone can read the scripture and understand the scripture that states plainly that we are not under bondage to the old covenant. You gain nothing from that but continue to prove you will refuse all scripture that you disagree with and pretend no one has posted and proven by scripture that Jesus, sent by God, has ended the old and brought about the new.

Now go ahead and post a bunch of unrelated verses that you think say otherwise and tell us all again how we are going to hell, according to you, if we don't become a Sabbath keeper such as yourself. If you were not pretending you have never seen the scripture you ask for and if you had not done the same dishonest thing mulitple times, I would gladly supply the scripture. In fact, I just did some hours back.

I don't think another post with the same scripture and others that indicate the old has passed away and Jesus has issued in the new will make any difference whatsoever in this thread and especially not to you.

There is a lot of accusations here and its sad that is being elevated over discussing Scriptures. You made the statement that Jesus is the New Covenant- all I asked for you to do provide the Scripture that backs up your claims. The Scripture clearly says that's not the case Heb8:10. Jesus is the Mediator of the New Covenant, He is our High Priest of the New Covenant, but He is not God's laws that was written in our heart in the New Covenant.

I don't know how you are so devious.

Here again is the scripture sabbath refuses to acknowledge. It has been posted many times to that person and they are pretending it has not been posted. The last time I'm responding to the false asking for proof. It's really a shake the sand off
your sandals type of situation so in obedience to scripture, I believe it is time and past time I stopped trying to have an honest exchange with someone who is not honest in return.

Dishonesty is not a virtue and certainly not something a Christian should exhibit over and over and over a does Sabbath

1Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 2A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man. 3For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer. 4For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law: 5Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. 6But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

The New Covenant

7For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

8For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

9Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

10For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

11And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

12For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

13In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

You know, for a fact, that Gentiles never had a law concerning the sabbath day.
What about creation

It was not a commandment but
There is no command to not murder or not steal at that time either.

The sabbath was made for man... at creation.

The holy principles have not changed.
The holy hours were set in place at creation. And it has not be removed.

Jew or Gentile it is a day that was set aside for holy use.

And please point to the Scripture that say Jesus is the New Covenant. From the Scriptures you posted tells us what the New Covenant is:

10For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Jesus is now our High Priest of the New Covenant- He is our Mediator of the New Covenant, but He is not the New Covenant.

Ask God if you're really in Him.

🕊
I was looking at 2 Corinthians 13:5 and have come to the conclusion that I'm unapproved, a reprobate.
How do you know that Christ is in you? What does He say when you ask Him if you're really in Him?

Why would you come to that conclusion?
.
When you're genuinely saved God gives you His Holy Spirit who will lead you into all truth, empower you to live for Him in the way He wants you to live. So when you test yourself you'll know by the Holy Spirit.

Also, if you realize you're failed the test, you don't have to remain in despair. Just talk to God about it. Ask Him to help you pass the test and He will..

Oh I agree but what is really at the heart of this debate. Those who say that we should follow the old covenant really are arguing for we should keep the sabbath. Which they define as going to church on Saturday.
No... that is not the issue..
I do not believe in keeping the Old covenant, and I'm sure everyone else thinks the same.

Following the 10 commandments is not following the old covenant.

The issue is about which law is part of the new covenant.

Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Which law does God want to write on your heart? Will He write it on your heart if you refuse?

What is sin?

These are the issues

So you want to obey the law. Good luck with that. You must also obey the punishments meted out to lawbreakers. I don't how you will get away with stoning adulterers. In this day and age, you would run out of rocks fairly quickly. You should also cut off the hands of thieves. What you really need to do is convert to Islam and go live in a Muslim country. You would be right at home there.
If you believed that the following verses accurately describe the Law of Moses, then you would want to obey it too:

Psalms 19:7-11
The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
the testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple;
8 the precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
the commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes;
9 the fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
the rules of the Lord are true,
and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold,
even much fine gold;
sweeter also than honey
and drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.

Capital punishment should don't be carried out without a Sanhedrin. Moreover, Jesus gave himself to pay the penalty for our sins, so it would be unlawful to enforce a penalty that has already been paid. This the fact that God considers something worthy of the death penalty and the fact that Jesus gave himself to pay that penalty should make us want to go and sin no more. The Law of God does not instruct to cut off the hands of thieves. Why would I want to convert to Islam instead of following the Law of God?

Entirely different issue. And no believer will be judged by the law.
How are we judged as sinners?
If we are not judged as sinners we have no need for a saviour.

The arc of the covenant had the law inside and directly under the mercy seat.

We are all judged as guilty by the law ... BUT the mercy of God allows Christ to pay the price.

No law = no sin = no need for mercy or a saviour.

Sorry I'm a long way behind... I don't spend hours on this sight... so I'll admit I might miss a few posts.

But I'm a bit confused.

When you say "all the laws", are you saying we need to keep all 600 plus laws given to Moses?
Indeed, though many of them don't have their conditions met, such as with a large portion of them being given to govern the conduct of the Leviticus priesthood.

When you say "no laws were made void".
Do you believe we need to shed the blood of spotless lambs today.?
Laws in regard to Temple practice should only be followed when there is a Temple in which to practice them.

Should we keep the feast of Trumpets today?
Indeed.

You might try a modern translation that does not obscure the meaning.

“Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom,”
‭‭James‬ ‭2‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬
What is the context...

Jas 2:11-12
11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. 12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

The laws quoted are from the 10 commandments.

Jas 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

A doer of the works... it is a law that requires action and effort.

OK. Show where I have instructed falsely or instructed anyone not to obey God.
So then do you agree that followers of Christ should follow his example of obedience to the Law of Moses?

Also, I believe obeying commandments through human endeavor only keeps the letter of the law. While I would never tell anyone not to make a practice of the law, outward obedience void of inward reality is not acceptable to God. See Isaiah 1.
In Exodus 20:6, God wanted His children to love Him and obey His commandments, so obedience to God has always been a matter of the heart. The letter has alway been a perversion of the Law of God that undermines its intent.
