I’ve struggled for years with living righteous. I know I can be doing better , I know this is true. Yet I feel I would have to live in a cave or the mountains or in the middle of nowhere to not be influenced by anyone or anything. Can we even really make it to heaven in this world filled with temptation everywhere? How does one avoid it all? How does one have a healthy marriage? How does one surround themselves with true believers? Not just fake so called believers. I need some hope and some wisdom folks.

As assertive as the world is, we have to answer it with a comparable if not transcendent assertion. Stand fast in our new identity in Christ. We're not who we used to be, so we don't receive the world's address to us as if we are. We answer to the name the Lord has adopted of us, son of God.

Re: healthy marriage. Regard your bride as the daughter of God and see.

Can we even really make it to heaven in this world filled with temptation everywhere? Yes. The scripture tells us to be in the world but not of the world. God wouldn't instruct us to do that if it wasn't possible. You say "temptations are everywhere." Do you mean you're tempted by many different temptations, or just a few that seem to be everywhere?

You said you know you can do better. Do you read and study the scriptures and understand them? Sometimes what we think we need to do better isn't necessarily what God wants from us. People don't come from cookie cutters and God doesn't treat us like that. I'd try to get a solid prayer life going with God and ask for His guidance, He won't let you down if you trust Him and turn it over to Him.

This verse is a good start. Matthew 5-6 is full of good things to practice

Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Matthew 7:12

No one is righteous and no believer has the ability to live righteously in themselves. Your experience is like Paul's in Romans 7. I advise to look outside of yourself. Christ is everything that God requires of you. He lives in the born again believer. He is not there to help us. He lives in to be our new life.

When I saw that, most of my troubles ceased. I know about temptation. I was in the Navy when I was saved. There were places we stopped that I would get off the ship because there was so much evil. And I knew that from previous experience.

Jesus is not just the way and the truth. He is also the Life. We know that we are saved by grace. To be saved means to be delivered. What is less frequently preached is that we are saved (delivered) by the Life of Christ. This is found in Romans 5:10. If we will hand over our lives completely to Jesus, ask Him to live out His life in and through us, we will be amazed at the change. Things once unbearable become easier, we have wisdom that we never had before and we have peace that passes understanding.

Watchman Nee put it something like this: God is not like a chemist, dispensing a dose of humility or patience. God has one remedy for every human condition. And that is Christ. Everything that God has for us is found only in Christ. I did a study a few years ago. I looked up "in Christ". I got to 50 times before I gave up.

Looking into to yourself for answers will lead to failure. Hebrews tells us to look to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.

Others have provided good input; I will offer only this:

God hears your prayers, and he sees your honest longing. Ask Him for help, as in,

"God, please help me to live the righteous life that You require, for Your glory."

Keep asking... and follow His guidance when He gives it. :)

How does one avoid it all?

Avoiding is one strategy. However, it may be more successful to follow the biblical strategy of transitioning from the selfishness of the flesh to the selfless love to be found in Christ-likeness.

Temptation is less effective when one sees nothing desirable in the world. If one can see those who have worldly "success" of wealth, fame, and power as sad characters whose lives are constrained and superficial, one can understand their desire for drugs and alcohol.

Finding joy and happiness outside of yourself is a good start. The first steps of a child, a couples 40th wedding anniversary, and happiness for a friend who pays off his mortgage can provide a life with the riches of rejoicing for others.

Christianity is the only religion that can actually deliver on the promise of transcendence of Buddhism. By allowing the Holy Spirit to work in us, we can become better people.

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Thats an easy question to answer SFS.

It's by faith, you just need to understand what that means.

When you wake up in the morning, go to a quiet place and personally surrender your life to Him. During the day, make decisions that are inspired by that surrendered life.

When you go to bed, make that surrender to Him, thinking about how you can make better decisions the next day to show God you really do concrete your life to be His now.

When you do this, and if it's legitimate, God will do something to let you know he's paying attention. Once that happens, you will know the power of faith and that surrendered life.

that's a tough on going issue for some. around here, there's not a lot of born again Christians. & no talented preacher-teachers. for instance, my wife & i are well known around here & we know 1,000's of people but there's hardly any of them we would social around with. they are professional people, honest, accountable & of moral stature but we decided to shift into a higher gear towards Jesus & dedicate ourselves to be cultivated to the core of the character of Christ. in 1 of your other postings, you mentioned the party life. i've been around that nearly all my life playing in bands & socializing in Saratoga & Manhattan. holy heavens, it never ends, it's a 24 hour a day party, day after day! don't get the wrong idea, although i drank, i never allowed myself to get too caught up in that. my wife & i quit that life style in 2024.

You don't have to try to live righteously on your ow,n. If you really want to, God will send you His Holy Spirit to empower you to live His way.

Acts 5:32 "We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey Him."

John 14:26
"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you."

The Holy Spirit will make it easier for you to live righteously!

Ephesians 3:16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,

Ezekiel 36:27 "
I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them."

So cheer up! You don't have to struggle anymore to live righteously. God loves you very much and will help you do so!

What do you mean by live righteous ? A Christian has light to stand in it shines like this we should be living and breathing and walking in this sound

The only difference in that last section is some hesr his word and act upon it others hear it and don’t act tbey act as if it’s not important …… the word of thier Lord . There are lots of lessons in listening to Jesus sermons


they aren’t like “ thou shall not kill “ it his sermons rather shape our mind and hearts with doctrine like you read above there sermons meant to impact the Hearer only because they have said and do believe he is the Lord this dynamic should shape us .

what christians are is actually Jesus disciples and followers upon the earth. We hear that they foret began to call Jesus disciples Christian’s at antioch in the book of acts . We still listen to his word and follow after it like he taught believers to do .

theres a lot in his word to forgive us to comfort us to make us feel loved and secure but also there’s a lot to teach us how to treat other people

thats where we find the righteousness of Christ it’s found in listening to his word the gospel he came to preach


this is where we come in touch with faith

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

To learn roghteousness and to please God we need to do this only

“All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

As we learn from Jesus it changes us that’s what Paul’s talking about here

if so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:

that ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; ( this is why we need to listen to Jesus doctrine )

and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:21-24‬ ‭

The new man like the old just lives out his nature inside the key for Christians is to still go to Jesus and listen to his word it’s always going to be so

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

Gods always been about man trusting and following his word because he loves us . We’re supposed to see that in Christ and the gospel because gods power like in the beginning comes through his word

Its hard not to look to ourself and the law and look at how we just a sinner can live righteous….. but once we become a listener of the lords word when he came and preached it that changes every thing , actually it changes us

Personally I say ---you need to know who your are in Christ and not focus on living in this worldly corrupt world ----
You need to stay focused on Scripture and do as it says -----your enemy is after your identity in Christ ------

Satan said to Jesus ----IF YOUR -The Son of God----after His Identity -----

Matthew 4:6​

6 He said to Jesus, “If you are the Son of God, jump off, because the Scriptures say,

‘God will command his angels to help you,
and their hands will catch you,
so that you will not hit your foot on a rock.’”

You need to keep your focus on Jesus and get your Faith grounded and Rooted in Him ----letting go of this world and be directed by the Holy Spirit in your daily life not allowing this world to take your focus away from who you really are ------

If your born again the reflection you see in the mirror becomes very important -----if you only see the reflection of yourself ----you need to get in scripture and deepen your Faith --till you see the Reflection of Jesus not yourself

Jesus quoted Scripture to Satan in the wilderness ------and we need to do the same -----

Your reflection in the mirror reflects who you think you are -----where is your heart ---in the world or in Jesus ----
This takes hard work on our part ----Being a True Christians is not easy -----

By going to God Father through belief in risen Son for you. Shutting the door to your prayer closet and saying what you said here, to God especially, to be heard freely how you feel. To be able to cuss it out, to be free to be free to say exactly how you feel.
Once you are free to do that and you do that, resting will begin in you too by God's love and mercy for all through Son who went to the flesh death once for us all. You can now vent freely as you feel, Thanking God for listening in love and mercy of Son for you too.
Once you have chosen to have vented it all out, then after walking out back to this world, you will hear truth over the errors that were in you, now gone by vented it out to God in trust, God loves you. God does not command you to do. You get to decide too. Which has been always true from day one in the first Adam who ate and death to flesh has come to us all. God provides the way out in Son as risen for you to rest in peace. We to see we dead to the first born flesh Romans 6:1-12 Oliver to God in God's spirit and Truth in love and mercy to all too John 4:23-24 Believe God, receiver from God the gift of new life and learn new from God one thing at a time. seek the Ah Ha moments daily Ah Ha God does just love me, wow Isaiah 6:1-7

Years ago I said that "HOW"?
1. trust to God over self and anyone else. God includes Father and Son as Won (One) for you to learn new from any and all mistakes made. Putting past behind you as fast as it happened again to you Phil 3:12, best to read the entire Chapter to stay in context
2. once you decide that in you, then you will begin to learn new

Right now you in a straight betwixt, wanting to do well, be good and not argue and fight Wirth those close to you, yet you do that, have done that and are worried over doing that again, If I am wrong in hearing this, I apologize.

I hear you seeking help, wanting, to be at peace? If that is correct, then begin with thank you God for just loving me!
For God does just love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Now you can rest and still watch you do those things you now hate, and begin to learn new in love and mercy given you.

What, But, As God said this is why I sent Son to first take away sin John 1:29. Then I rose Son from the dead for you to be new.
You will make mistakes along the way, are you willing to learn from them as not well for your soul, whenever you get angry again?

Go forward in trust God will not ever leave you or ever forsake you either

At some point in your journey of Following the WAY ------You will need to decide ---where your feet are planted -------on what side of the fence ----the world's side or God's side -----you can't be in both----

God says Choose Life or Death ---that is our choice -----
