Have you confessed every sin you have committed? Do you know every sin you have committed?

The subject wasn't about forgiveness of sin. The subject was the source of obedience. Who is the source of one's obedience? How is obedience accomplished?
How is obedience accomplished?

Choose. We need to make a choice.

Jos 24:15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Now you need to repent and pray.

Act 8:21-22
21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. 22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.

So your heart is right and able to recieve the light.

Search the word and find the truth.

Psa 119:105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Joh 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

Only good ground came germinate the seed..

If your heart is not right you can't recieve the truth..

The truth will set us free..

We need to follow the truth, choose to follow the bible not self.

The light of the bible gives us all we need to obey.

There is more then one Spirit.

Are you aware of the devil's deceptions.
How are you protected from the deceptions of the devil?
Yes, why the word of God needs to guide us.

Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Read Ezekiel 36:26-27. Who is the source of obedience? Who causes the individual to walk in His statutes? The passage says it is God.

The choice the Christian makes is not whether to obey or not, but to walk in the Spirit or the flesh. If we walk in the flesh we sin. If we walk in the Spirit we do not.

There is more then one Spirit.

Are you aware of the devil's deceptions.

There is only 1 Holy Spirit. Do you not know Him? How can one walk in the Spirit without knowing the Spirit?

Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

The devil can quote the bible .
The devil used bible verses to tempt Jesus.
Psa 91:12 They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
Mat 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

But Jesus understood the word and He used scripture to protect Himself from sin.

The word is our protection from deception.

The word is our guild to doing what is right.

Without it you are open to deception.

And don't under estimate the devil.

God is more powerful but He will not force us to choose.

I know I'm walking in the Holy Spirit when obedience is the fruit.

You are not fooling me. You certainly don't fool God. Your posts reveal your heart. Think about that for a bit!

Much love!

*Shrug* I'm not going to lose sleep over your words or opinion concerning me. Stop assuming you're important to me, lol!

How can someone be deceived if they are walking in the Spirit? Again, you don't know what it is to walk in the Spirit.

Consider what you are saying. You read the word of God. You decide what it means. You follow what you believe it means. You are in effect following your flesh.

What the Christian is to do is to walk in the Spirit and in doing so He simply leads you in the paths of righteousness. You don't have to make a choice of whether or not to obey or disobey. You need only do what the Spirit is leading you to do.

Like many here, you do not understand the new covenant. God causes His people to walk in His statutes...Ezekiel 36:26-27. You are acting as your own shepherd.

The Holy Spirit is the source of power in our lives. We can not do anything good without God.

I am not saying that we should do anything without the Spirits leading but I am saying we should test the spirits.

1Jn 4:1-6
1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world...
. 6 We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

If you presume you are safe and nothing can decieve you. That is not a good place to be.

Mar 14:38 Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

You say we don't have to choose. This is not so. God will work with those that are willing.

Being willing is a choice. A daily choice.

Do you not know the voice of the Shepherd. Jesus says His sheep know His voice and follow Him.

People make living the Christian life difficult. To be sure, the Christian life comes with its share of difficulties, but living out each day is not hard under an easy yoke. God will literally take us through the day being strong on our behalf. Perhaps read afresh Psalm 23. See how the Shepherd cares for His sheep. He supplies all that is necessary in every aspect of life. He supplies our every physical and spiritual need. He leads, He feeds, He meets all our needs. It's an incredible life, but I fear far too many Christians live far below what is available to them.

Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Joh 14:21 KJV He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: ....

Deu 5:10 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

Exo 20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

1Ki 3:14 And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.

Rev 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

From all these verses, it seems like we can choose to obey or disobey the commandments of God.

We can forget them, we can walk in His ways and keep the laws or we can disobey or forsake them.

We can love God and keep them or not..

It is a choice we need to make.
The new heart and transformed life is the fruit of the Holy Spirit working in us. Jesus knocks we open the door. Letting God in is our choice.

The choice we make is to walk in the Spirit or in the flesh.

For the legalists (TMS, SabbathBlessing, vassal, Rob7, etc.)

What is the function of the indwelling Holy Spirit? For what purpose does the Spirit indwell the believer?

It is easy when your on the mountain top. But when your in the dark valley it tests your faith.

I seen a true story about a man that was tortured for his faith. All he had to do was deny God and transgress the law. But for 2 years he was tortured. He stayed faithful to his convictions and kept praying for faith.

After 2 years another opportunity came for him to be faithful or deny God he stayed strong and God worked a miracle.
He was saved from the torture and his faith is recorded as a strong witness for God.

Why did God wait 2 years to save him?

I don't know but I know that life isn't always easy when you follow the Lord.

Joh 15:20 Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; ...

Mat 5:11-12
11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. 12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

It takes faith and love to stand in these hard times.

Like Dan 3.
Dan 3:16-19
16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. 17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up. 19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.

They didn't know if God would save them or not. They had faith that God could. But if not were willing to die for their faith....

How is our faith strengthened and made strong so that we are able to die for God.

Jas 1:2-4
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4 But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

If life is constantly a mountain top experience we will not have a faith that is strong.

1Pe 1:6-8
6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: 7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Job 23:10-12
10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold. 11 My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. 12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

Walking in the Spirit doesn't mean ease and prosperity..

The faith that is tried is like gold refined in the fire.

Joh 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

This is a choice. Will you be faithful or unfaithful. It will come down to how much love you have. Love is not a feeling.

I said life will have difficulties, but being a sheep isn't difficult. God was faithful through the trial. But this is simply deflection. The man was fully aware of where He was led and He walked in the Spirit and God caused him to walk in His statutes. The reasons God led this way is a whole different topic.
Incidentally, didn't say life was a constant mountain top. I expressly spoke concerning Psalm 23. It happens to speak concerning the valley of the shadow of death and the presence of enemies.

The Spirit is given to convict us sin- breaking the law of God, but we are not given the Spirit to dwell with us initially, we have to make the decision we love God and want to serve Him, that we will keep God's commandments before the Spirit is given to dwell with us. If we have a harden heart the Spirit has nothing to work on and will not force Himself on us. The Spirit enables us to keep the commandments, but we first have to hear His voice calling on us and not harden our heart to to will of God.

Why there is a IF here- its conditional. So if we are arguing about His commandments chances are - we are allowing our own heart to deceive us. Jer 17:9

John 14:15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

Acts 5: 32 And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.

John15"10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

The commandments of God are not arbitrary laws- they are written out plainly by God Himself Exo31:18 so if we are debating against keeping them, we are not walking in His Spirit, but walking in our own desires but professing the name of God. This essentially breaks the commandment to not vain God's name- professing Christian while living for another because the voice of God who calls us to be His servant Isa56:6 we are not subjecting oneself to His voice, but serving another of the one we are obeying,

So calling people "legalist" because we love God and want to obey Him on His terms is human judgment which means nothing, I would be more concerned what this is really saying about ourself.

Rom 8: 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

This is the test of knowing Him

The Test of Knowing Him- if we are not keeping the commandments of God- His version,

1John2:3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

God invites everyone to join themselves to Him and serve Him. The invitation is open for everyone - all are called, few are chosen because many do not like the conditions- they want to serve the Lord on their own terms and not God's. Whoever we obey is who we serve, why Jesus said many will say LORD LORD but He won't know them.

Isa 56:1 Thus says the LORD:

Isa 56:6 “Also the sons of the foreigner (Gentiles)
Who join themselves to the LORD, to serve Him,
And to love the name of the LORD, to be His servants—
Everyone who keeps from defiling the Sabbath,
And holds fast My covenant

Psa 89:14 My covenant I will not break,
Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips.

Lets not be deceived out of our inheritance like those who came before us. Eze20:15-16 Heb3:7-19 Heb4:11

You just can't admit when you're wrong, can you?

Where in the definition of faith does the concept of "obedience" appear? Nowhere.

What you have given is one example of someone who exercised faith by obeying. Out of all the examples provided in Hebrews 11, how many involve obedience, according to the text?
Let's take a look:

Verse 3: no.
V. 4: no.
V. 5: no.
V. 6: nothing is said about obedience when it comes to pleasing God.
V. 7: no, even though he was doing as God directed, the obedience is not mentioned here.
V. 9: no.
V. 11: no.
V. 17: no, though again it is action at God's direction, obedience is not mentioned.
V. 20: no.
V. 21: no.
V. 22: no.
V. 23: no.
V. 24: no.
V. 27: no.
V. 28: no.
V. 29: no.
V. 30: no.
V. 31: no.

What more shall I say? You need to rethink your position in light of the whole chapter. Cherry-picking clearly is not doing anything for you.
You want to talk about cherry-picking? You are counting a word while ignoring what every single story in that chapter actually shows. Let's step back from Hebrews entirely and let God and Jesus speak for themselves.

God's own words to Abraham — Genesis 22:16-18: "Because you have obeyed my voice... in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed."

This is the SAME Abraham in Hebrews 11. God himself called it obedience. The word is right there in the original account.

God to Isaac — Genesis 26:5: "Because Abraham obeyed my voice and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws."

God's definition of Abraham's faith was obedience. Not feelings. Not mental agreement.

Jesus — Matthew 7:21: "Not everyone who says to me Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who DOES the will of my Father."

Jesus — Luke 6:46: "Why do you call me Lord, Lord and do NOT do what I tell you?"

Jesus — John 14:15: "If you love me, keep my commandments."

1 Samuel 15:22: "To obey is better than sacrifice."

The absence of a word does not erase the concept. Every person in Hebrews 11 moved when God spoke. That is obedience, whether you accept the word or not.

We don't give authority to God. He already has all authority. We can only ascribe it to Him. And you are correct, ascribing this and other of God's majesties to Him does honor Him. So...let's see how well you do.

When someone obeys a commandment, who is the source of the obedience?
No ! "Ascribe" means to attribute or assign a quality. We cannot ascribe glory to God in the sense of adding to His inherent glory, but we can give Him glory in the sense of reflecting His character, honoring Him, and acknowledging His greatness.

It is WE who are not glorious, but by the sanctification of the Holy Spirit progressively INDWELLING IN US to where we are becoming progressively more obedient, as Christ was obedient to the Father. ... And as we become more like Him, by having Christ's Spirit IN US.. This obedience to the leadings of the Holy Spirit is US giving God the Glory, by our obedience of giving God the authority in our lives, rather than Satan.

Remember? "Fear God, and give glory to him" ? Rev 14:7 We do this daily by our choices each day, and weekly by GOD's CREATED WEEKLY, SABBATH, '"Remembering" how it was before the fall and keeping His 7th Day Holy as he commanded. This acknowledges our understanding of His Authority, as Creator,
"and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters." Rev 14:7 ... "For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: why the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. Exodus 20:11

Rather than giving Satan glory, by doing Satan's will of DISOBEDIENCE, selfishness, lust, pride = sin, and showing him authority by observing his day, pagan Sunday, which has been instituted, by the Un-Holy Roman Catholic Church ~> Anti-Christ.

The source of the power You ask? ..Obviously The Spirit of Christ, His Holy Ghost, the Comforter
Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

That's why people who are lacking the Holy Spirit have the Spirit of Rebellion, instead. As long as we are alive, we will have one or the other of these two spirits. There's NOT a third "neutral" spirit as some people believe to try to dodge their obedience obligation to
be a Child of God, thru Faith unto obedience, having the Righteousness of God Jesus.

Inherited from Adam & Eve, exhibited in Cain & Able all the way down thru history to YOU & I. We are continually, given this choice to either give God the Glory ( Authority) OR give Satan the authority ( sinning) in our lives. This is all evident by how much we believing, following and TRUST in Jesus, OR ENJOY the "natural man" believing & following Satan.

1 Corinthians 2:14 ~~"But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned." ( They lack the power of the Holy Ghost unto discernment of TRUTH.)

"And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve ( give Glory ) the Lord!"

Genesis 15:6 provides the Old Testament origin: "And he believed the Lord, (was obedient) and he counted it to him as righteousness." This verse illustrates that faith—trusting God—was credited as righteousness to Abraham long before the law was given.

Philippians 3:9
