Hey Everyone,

It's that time again! We're planning another Forum Friends Live Chat Meetup this Friday (March 13) at 5 PM Central Time. Ask Google to translate this to your local time if you're not in this time zone (I have to do this for myself, too!)

Here is the link to the chat rooms -- just login like you do for the forums, then look for a room called something like "ForumMeetup" (or a room started by Lynx) to enter on that day:

https://christianchat.com/app/

Lynx will be there at the start; due to time differences, I get there about an hour later. We usually go for another hour after that, but just kind of go with the crowd. You can come and go as you please, and whether you want to talk on the mic, only type, or be a silent lurker, we welcome you to stop by!

We are learning as we go in this whole process. As stated above, Lynx will start a room called something like "ForumMeetup," and I will make a second back-up room as well. One night, the mic wasn't working, so we jumped to another room. Half the crowd we attract tends to be from these forums, and the other half are chat-only people looking for conversations.

We've had some people try to turn our chat into another branch of The Bible Discussion Forum --which is great; it's a Christian Chat site, of course people are looking for Biblical discussion -- but that's not the purpose of our particular chat.

We are The Fellowship Hour and The Coffee and Donuts time after the sermon. Therefore, if some people want to stay and have Biblical debates and so forth, that's awesome -- they can stay in that room to teach and debate to their heart's content.

But for those who are looking for everyday conversations about life and how we're living out our daily walks as Christians, we will just migrate to the second room we set up. (Again, you can see why I drag Lynx to all these chats -- it's helpful to work as a team -- plus, he's free tech support!) :geek:

So you'll see a room created by Lynx and another one created by me; just go to the one with people, or check out both if people are in both rooms. One might be a Biblical discussion, and the other might be a casual conversation.

About 1/3 of the crowd is married, so this really is a friendship group for everyone.

And since many of us are now regulars and have shared most of our stories, we are going to try starting out with light chat and then possibly playing Bible Trivia if people are interested. We're hoping to keep up a fun chat/game night without any heavy debates that almost always turn into arguments.

Another chatter suggested the game, "Would You Rather?" so we might play that another time.

Hope to see you there! :D

oh goody, but I can't make it (again) cos it's Saturday at my end and I've got things on at that time. Have fun!

Yea the heavy debates are kind of...tiring. If one side backs down they have to concede defeat. Thats why they keep up the argument. And it just goes on forever like a filibuster until someone has enough and runs out the room in tears..I have just described BDF

Someone said donuts. I I'm sure somebody just said donuts.

Where are the donuts? I always have to bring my own, every Friday we have a chat. Nobody ever gives me donuts.

Okay so they're not donuts. They are vanilla or peach or caramel cream filled croissants. Delicious!

But how do I get in on these free donuts?

I started a room this morning called "EclecticElves" as a backup room, but for anyone showing up tonight, you'll probably want to look for the room started by Lynx.

Hope to see ya'll there! :)

This forum is blessed having members like you and Lynx, who are so up for trying to make it a warm, welcoming, place to be. Personally, i do think quite a few denizens of the Bible discussion are there to troll, not spiritually enlighten. First century Christian communities definitely appeal much more to me than religious organisations now, think supporting each other in spiritual and daily life is infinitely preferable to the more controlling, authoritarian approach. Know i feel much more worshipful and ready to laud the LORD in a beautiful woodland glade, than any church, cathedral etc.

Just checked to make sure, the meetup starts about 10pm my time, i'd love to attend. Improving but still troubled by the magnesium deficiency, my arms and rib area are still very weak, i'm usually very nimble and dexterous but have dropped/broken so many things lately, it's disheartening. However, i haven't had leg cramps for a couple of weeks, which is heartening, hope i haven't put the kibosh on that positive by mentioning it. Think this meetup could be a lovely, fun tonic for a lot of us, think this forum has many discussions which seem closer to 1st Century style Christian Spirituality/Life, than the Bible discussion forum.

Hoping to be here later, God's blessings and hugs from me for now.

Just wondering why Seoul still has that massive smile on her mush, after Snackersmom poked her in an eye?! :p

Hey while we're on the subject of chat, does this new platform allow for private messaging? I mean in the actual chat room, not here on the forums. I did not see it offered but mighta missed something 🤔

Hope you are feeling better and we would love to have you, LLL!!!

Life is so serious, and often heart-breaking.

We're hoping to a establish a bit of light-hearted community amidst the chaos. :)

I am very thankful to have Lynx as my friendship/forum Partner in Crime. He's always reliable, super dependable, and never loses patience with my technological ineptitude (it's a miracle, trust me!) 🤪

I really appreciate the work all the fine people here on the forum have contributed in trying to build this -- the people who show up, thread after thread, getting to know each other and sharing their stories, time and time again -- this is what builds community.

Of course, chat-only people are welcome as well (I'm often asked if I'm new,) and it's always great meeting new people, but I always feel a special twinkle in my heart when I see people in chat I already kind of "know" from the forums. 💖

God bless and even if we can't see you tonight, I hope your health continues to improve!

Yes, you can direct message people in the chat, as far as I know.

I don't think there are any subscription fees or anything like that -- at least not that I've seen yet.

If you click on someone's name and scroll down, I think that's where you find the option to private message.

However, I've heard people say it sometimes has glitches they're still working out, and that sometimes it might work on a computer, but not on a phone, etc.

Can i be referee? Heh! You'll prob. bring a hammer when you can see out of that eye.....

I just like to put on a good show... Power to the people, you know! 😁

And the good people like being entertained. 😃

In truth, Snackers has me beat in just about every area by a literal country mile, but we like to keep everyone amused during the process. 🥳

Ooh! That isn't how i see it, i'd say you're more like counterparts/foils for each other, at least to my eyes. I can be too self critical as well, think you underestimate your considerable strengths far too much.

I will make a ForumMeetup room and hang out there, but your's sounds more fun...

One part of the forum process I really enjoy is trying to come up with creative titles and names for threads and chat rooms.

I'm glad we came up with this "back-up room" idea, because it now indulges my cravings to come up with ridiculous room descriptions. 🤪

"Eclectic Elves" is a play on the fact that a Moderator We Shall Not Name ALWAYS tases me EVERY time I enter the chat -- BEFORE I even have a chance to start any trouble! NOT. FAIR. This mod also likes to tease me about being short, causing me to refer to myself as a mere harmless garden gnome... But I tell the mod that the taser always misses because it's set to zap something else (elves, dwarves, etc.) rather than us gnomes, because we are much more stealthy.

I've seen some chat rooms pop up that say "Private" -- so of course, naturally, I go in there (but just when it says there are 0 chatters there -- I'm not THAT rude!)

Something I'm toying with experimenting with in the future are rooms called things like, "DoNotEnter!", "Gov'tFiles," "TopSecret," "Area51," "BermudaTriangle", "AlienReports," and of course, "GoAway," which I'd actually NEVER use because that's not at all welcoming for anyone not in on the joke.

OOOOOHHHHH. The possibilities are ENDLESS.

I'm just teeter-tottering back and forth over how much I can get away with.:cool::sneaky::alien:

Serious cheers soulsister, things are challenging for me currently, rheumatoid arthritis kicking in first, now this magnesium deficiency, however, not really surprising. I'm still a newish Christian, coming up to the end of year two and at first it was like floating round on beautiful, fluffy clouds. Not surprised i'm having some faith testing experiences, hope i keep the faith and won't be ground down.

Staying online at the moment, otherwise i might start feeling sleepy or something, really hope i can spend some time at the meetup.

Had to go for the thumbsup, couldn't make my mind up which one of 3 others would suit best  Feeling like that mod could maybe do with a smack in the kisser, because if anything you're a fairy godmother type, height has nothing to do with being a good person, as it sounds like they might be an example of.
Your photos suggest you're really pretty but even more, you seem a lovely, intelligent, compassionate person i'd really like. Think you have a lot of reasons to feel cosy with yourself, you're great to know.

EDIT: The AMD 4 has been up and running near 24 hours, i'll have to leave for a bit and come back in an AM 5. Won't be too long, i'll get the one in the sitting room up and running while i shut this one down, see you soon and hugs.

Thank you for the kind words, LLL, you are super sweet. :)

Fortunately, the mod of which I speak and I have a pretty good mod vs. chatter respect level (at least, I think!) and it's great having that person in our chats when they can make an appearance. :)

I hope everything is running smoothly for you and I hope to see you later today! 💕

Don't let Seoul fool ya, she's super smart and has considerable skills in many areas. She can hold her own in just about any conversation because she's a great listener. I swear, that woman could shoulder the emotional burdens of a small third-world country. And she is one of the most giving and selfless people I've ever met! 😎

As a side note (because giving out random diagnoses is a hobby of mine), I'm pretty sure there is a link between magnesium deficiency and rheumatoid arthritis flare-ups. Don't ask me why I think that, it is complicated 🤓. But anything you can do to bring up your magnesium levels should help with the RA. Some people do not absorb magnesium well from their diet so please consider Epsom salts baths, most people absorb it very effectively through their skin. Should help relieve restless leg syndrome as well. Hang in there sis, good to see ya! 🤗
