Well, here I am 9ish months later.

The knee that I had the shot in is still feeling pretty good, which I smile about since the Dr. said "Don't know how long it will last for you... maybe 3 months? Maybe 6, a year? Just don't know" and well, I just really didn't like that Dr (there's a whole story behind that, but that's for another time). My other knee I have overcompensated using it for so many years and now that the 'bad' one is good, I'm feeling all the aches and pains in the other, plus a recent slight injury to it isn't helping.

I was starting to wonder if I need to go see a different ortho dr, but really don't want to. I don't shop online, and haven't really remembered to look for HA while at the store. But I finally thought about it last night and looked it up online. I found MOVE FREE with the HA, as well as MSM, glucosamine, and chondroitin. I remember as a teen after injuring my knee that the dr or physical therapist had mentioned the MSM, glucosamine, and chondroitin. My mom used to get them for me, but she got each one separate and they were horse pills, and I wasn't happy taking 6+ horse pills daily! As i got older and on my own I never gave thought to it, and when I did look at the stores a few times I found it with joint supplements in the sections I (wrongly, young and dumb) considered "Old people meds"...
Well, I'm 40+ now! I'm getting there

I decided I really don't want to go see a dr for this if possible, so why not try some things on my own first? So, I went and bought some MOVE FREE today and am excited to start it. And just realized I know I'm getting older when the excitement of my day is starting a new, promising supplement.:ROFL:

I'm glad your injured knee is healing in spite of the steroid shot. Steroids don't remain in the joint many months. It would clear out before then. It sounds like some actual healing has taken place.... congratulations!

You mentioned horse pills your Mom gave you earlier in life that helped. Funny thing is that before you posted this, I was just thinking about how I need to buy some horse supplements once I can afford them. For instance, the brands I used to get for my joints and energy, MSM dietary sulphur, was sold in the horse section of the Ag stores. The MSM sulphur was 100% pure organic with no fillers and looked like salt. I could adjust my dose with a spoon/scoop. Effective Dosage is important with supplements.
Mix it in a glass of water and get a lot for the money. MSM helps with inflammation too.

I'm glad you got it and hope it helps!
☕😊👍🏼

I've been getting injections in one of my knees and one ankle for years.

Both are painful in the spring due to all the storms this time of year. My ankle doesn't have any cartilage anymore. It hurts the most and the most often. Also...there are no replacement options.

Glucosamine/Condroitin....mixed bag on those. Everyone is different, for me they take time to work. Same with turmeric. Have to take them for three weeks to see any limited effect. I see the most benefit in my hands (arthritis there too) I have overused my legs and hands most of my life. Chef, delivery driver out of box trucks, and electrician. They are not gonna last another 40 years unfortunately. But while I can....I still do what I can. I may be slow...but. I get it done.

The ankle and knee (not same leg) have begun affecting my hips and muscles.
It's gonna sound crazy but core strength and stretches that affect your core and hips are going to help you in ways you really can't understand yet. But are absolutely amazing in how they allow you to move and walk....things happen slowly and you don't really notice.

kinda like how your eyes go bad and you notice one day you cant see something you should because everyone else can. Or someone else notices that you cant see as good as you should. (Like i did with my dad). You should be able to find the particular stretches easy enough....laying face down on a bed with a strap around your ankle sounds nuts for helping....but its amazing.

My knee gets silicon gel put into it and it has helped tremendously. Been over a year since I have gotten any injections. But the injections are expensive, it requires 3 separate injections spread out over several weeks.
The stuff is not approved for ankles. Otherwise I'd get it there too.

My ankle is needing something....but....my last orthopedic doc hurt me putting cortisone in it. It's not gotten any better. I need a different one plus the shot.

The ankle was destroyed when I was young....they put it back together but gave me ten years before I would need a cane. That was 40 years ago but I still don't need a cane. But they are looking better than ever these days.

I know I don't want to be one of them old people who use a huge, bulky walker or one of those odd knee scooters. I got surgical options....dunno.

Do you push ankles apart with this strap?

Do you push ankles apart with this strap?
Nope...
Face down I pulled them one at a time back over towards my head....but obviously they won't go that far.

Bending my knee too.

Sounds nuts, I get it....but it's amazing how much stretching like that helps.

Apparently, when you have knee and leg problems, you get bunched up and bent forward....and lower abdominal muscles and tendons tighten up. I work hard constantly (which is why my joints are worn out) and I thought I was fine....

But then I started the stretching (due to physical therapist telling me to) and things hurt I didn't think would. Core strength and flexibility as we get older gets bad....we get bound up. Unless we work at it. Now I work construction....I'm always crawling and climbing and squeezing into places. It's like an adult jungle gym.. I thought I was fine.....
I found out different from a few stretches and exercises.. I also have to stretch my shoulder muscles and give the small muscles a workout....in other annoying ways. But it helps my Frisbee golf game and bowling scores too.

My hips and butt muscles (now retired) hurt from time to time....it's not just my ankle and knee anymore....I think I probably need to go back and find out new stretches and exercises....I'm house painting and roofing. And I cut about 2 cords of pecan firewood from a huge 100yr old pecan tree that got snapped over from high wind and wet soil...my back hurts today from it.
(Filled truck bed and trailer)
Woulda been lighter if it was dried and cured....but it was juicy getting ready to leaf out. Got sap everywhere.

My wife has a thing for lumberjacks....the whole plaid flannel shirt, beard and axe....she's over there just a watching.
Pecan wood getting cut perfuming the air. Huge chunks of wood, sawdust ....she's all in on watching. Says it's all about making sure I don't get hurt....HA!.

Frisbee golf 😀 I want to learn how to play that, we have several parks around here with the cages for it.
🤔 Don't think I've been bowling since before I had that shot and could bend/move... I might be better at it now 😃

Yes, stretch like that but get that knee raised up....that's when it will begin to stretch.

And a back rub sounds really really good.....hhhummmmm

Yes, stretch like that but get that knee raised up....that's when it will begin to stretch.
So, I tried it last night...
it's turned into a love/hate relationship
Felt good (loved), at the same time, that uncomfortable, but not painful, pull in spots that need a good stretch (hate, but in time this will improve).
It did crack a spot in my knee that has been tight, which I have been trying to crack/pop, knowing once that happens it will feel so much better. Today, that popped spot does indeed feel much better. Made it a little easier to climb the stairs this morning too.

I used to teach a fitness class and recommend subscribing to this man's channel. I'd watch a number of shorts to see if it's right for you. Nothing beats a personal fitness coach, but since you DIY, this might be helpful.
He covers movements for Range of Motion, Body weight exercises and things like this.

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet but looking for a cure to arthritis is the wrong way to go about it. Rather one should be looking for the cause. The best way to start that process is with an elimination diet. Cut out all but a few simple natural ingredients. Continue that for at least a month or two before adding anything back in. If symptoms remain, adjust the ingredients to a new set.

Main things to cut out:
Refined sugar
All processed foods(if it comes in a box, it’s a no)
Especially seed oils.

Easiest way to grocery shop is stay off the isles and only hit the outer sections, produce, meat, and dairy. I personally recommend just meat due to the chemicals and toxins in many plants. But I know some people don’t like to give up their fruits and vegetables. Human health starts in the gut. It’s not about putting something else in to fix the problem but more of just leaving out the things causing the issue. Most doctors don’t do causation medicine. They simply supply bandaids for symptoms and send you on your way.

It takes pure discipline but speaking from experience, starting an elimination diet almost 3 years ago has changed my life. I had symptoms I didn’t know I had until they were gone. My plantar fasciitis of 5 years has been gone for over two. Joint pain gone. Skin is baby smooth. Sleep is amazing. At 43 I feel better than I did at 20. It’s worth it.
