Now there are many Christians who have a hard time to understand the truth about clean and unclean foods. In the Bible, God tells us not to eat things like Pork, crab, cuttlefish, shellfish, lobster, etc. God had to put these laws in the Bible so that we could know certain creatures are harmful to eat. We see it in Leviticus 11..
Leviticus 11:1-23
1 And the Lord spake unto Moses and to Aaron, saying unto them,
2 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth.
3 Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.
4 Nevertheless these shall ye not eat of them that chew the cud, or of them that divide the hoof: as the camel, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
5 And the coney, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
6 And the hare, because he cheweth the cud, but divideth not the hoof; he is unclean unto you.
7 And the swine, though he divide the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you.
8 Of their flesh shall ye not eat, and their carcase shall ye not touch; they are unclean to you.
9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.
13 And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray,
14 And the vulture, and the kite after his kind;
15 Every raven after his kind;
16 And the owl, and the night hawk, and the cuckow, and the hawk after his kind,
17 And the little owl, and the cormorant, and the great owl,
18 And the swan, and the pelican, and the gier eagle,
19 And the stork, the heron after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.
20 All fowls that creep, going upon all four, shall be an abomination unto you.
21 Yet these may ye eat of every flying creeping thing that goeth upon all four, which have legs above their feet, to leap withal upon the earth;
22 Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind.
23 But all other flying creeping things, which have four feet, shall be an abomination unto you.

Now some Christians think that Mark 7:19 changes this and claim it says you can eat anything you want. Well lets look at it.
Mark 7:19
19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

It doesnt really say there is any changes to the clean or unclean foods that are set out, so where did this idea come in. Well lets look through a couple of the new versions of the Bible, Interestingly other versions had this in brackets, that “Jesus declared all foods clean”.

New International Version “For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.)
English Standard Version “since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.)
New American Standard Bible “because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?” (Thus He declared all foods clean.)

So why did all the old versions of the Bible not contain this portion, and why do the new versions carry it within brackets? The Original Greek Manuscripts do not carry “In saying this, Jesus declared” which is in the new versions of Mark 7:19.

This had been a later addition by some of the translators, its not what the Bible had, just a decision by the translators of the modern versions to add “(In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean)” was valid. Well lets look at the context of the chapter in Mark leading up to verse 19 and see if it is about eating any food, or eating food according to the traditions of man. We begin with Mark 7:1-4..
Mark 7:1-5
1 Then came together unto him the Pharisees, and certain of the scribes, which came from Jerusalem.
2 And when they saw some of his disciples eat bread with defiled, that is to say, with unwashen, hands, they found fault.
3 For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, except they wash their hands oft, eat not, holding the tradition of the elders.
4 And when they come from the market, except they wash, they eat not. And many other things there be, which they have received to hold, as the washing of cups, and pots, brasen vessels, and of tables.
5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked him, Why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashen hands?

We see here that the story begins with the Pharisees accusing some of Jesus disciples of not washing their hands before eating bread according to the “tradition of the elders”. Now the Pharisees had their own laws they had made up and told others they had to follow in addition to God’s Law, and this is what Christ addresses in the verses that proceed.
Mark 7:6-9
6 He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.
7 Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
8 For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

He starts by quoting Isaiah 29:13, showing their hypocrisy saying, that they honor God with their mouth but their hearts are far from Him as we see in 'honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.' And that in vain they worship Him, teaching commandments of men for 'doctrine'. Jesus goes further on their mistake showing that they are laying aside God’s Commandments and are holding onto the 'traditions of men', which include their ideas of 'washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.' He says that they reject 'reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.' And He tells them they make God’s Word of no effect by their traditions, 'Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.' Is He saying that God’s direction on clean and unclean foods are of no use because whatever we eat is purged out of the stomach. Of course not, as we can see the whole context He was talking of was the 'tradition of man' the Pharisees had added, and declaring them hypocrites for making what God had given on clean and unclean, as they had the Law, Void. Putting in their own 'traditions'.

There is key information you didn’t address: the dietary laws were given to Israel, not to everyone. Modern Christians are not ancient Israelites.

Further, the dietary laws are part of the old Sinai covenant. Christians are under the new covenant in Christ’s blood.

The Old Testament was a physical covenant with physical laws, and ordinances, and holy days.

Since Jesus did the will of the Father and obeyed Him then He would advocate the Old Testament for the New Testament was not in affect yet.

Jesus would of followed the law of clean and unclean animals.

Mat 15:1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,
Mat 15:2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

Mat 15:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

Mat 15:17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
Mat 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
Mat 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
Mat 15:20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

Mar 7:18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
Mar 7:19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
Mar 7:20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

meats
brōma
bro'-mah
From the base of G977; food (literally or figuratively), especially (ceremonial) articles allowed or forbiden by the Jewish law: - meat, victuals.

This means meats in general whether lawful or unlawful.

Jesus was not explaining that all meat is clean for that is not the point.

He is saying the stomach purges the dirt which purges the meats, food, of the dirt so it is alright.

The point is dirt eating with dirty hands which the Pharisees had a tradition to not eat with unwashen hands.

But Jesus explained the dirt does not defile the person for it goes in and then comes back out.

Their tradition was useless for it had nothing to do with defiling the person making them wrong in the eyes of God.
Which Jesus went against them because of their traditions that had nothing to do with the law of God and not required to do which they had them jumping through hoops of tradition.

The Roman Catholic Church is terrible at doing this and saying tradition is equal to the word of God.

Jesus followed the Old Testament including clean and unclean animals because the New Testament.

The New Testament is a spiritual covenant and the physical laws do not apply.

And there is power by the Spirit on the side of the saints where it was not there in the Old Testament.

1Ti 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
1Ti 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
1Ti 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

This is speaking of the new age christianity that shall come out at the latter times which they are of the occult and believe people will evolve to be spiritual, and Jesus became an ascended master, and there is no personal God.

They will forbid to marry for a man and woman, population reduction.

And command to abstain from meats, reverence of nature.

But God said He created both for mankind to them which believe the truth.

Which God said for every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

All meat is good to eat now for it is sanctified for it is a spiritual covenant now.

Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Col 2:15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Col 2:16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Col 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Jesus took the physical laws, and ordinances, of Israel out of the way nailing them to His cross for they were contrary to us because they have not bearing on spiritual salvation.

Which includes meats were taken away the law of not eating unclean animals.

So do not let any person judge you in meats for we can eat any meat we want in the New Testament.

As long as it is not sacrificed unto idols and you know about it.

Many people believe we cannot eat unclean animals as stated in the Old Testament.

Even though we can eat what we want if people say we cannot eat pork or shellfish for it is unclean and wrong it is a sin even though it is alright.

Which you know some people that say do not eat the unclean animals they will do it like they are hypocritical.
Having the hoof split is walking on this earth while having the next one in mind as well.
To chew the cud is to ruminate on the word of God.
Fins and scales are having your guard up for Holiness sake while navigating the waters of life.

Wuz you talkin' bout Willis.

I am not believing what you say.

I do not believe clean and unclean animals is about their behavior.

The Bible does not say do not eat this animal or eat this animal because of their behavioral traits compatible with us.

Come on guys, Those ordinances are put in the same location as 'You shall not muzzle the ox as it treads the grain, you shall not plow with an ox and a donkey together, you shall not wear a cloak made of wool and linen woven together'

Isn't the ox's renoun in being a source of milk and meat?
Aren't the scriptures reffered to as milk and meat by the apostles?

Plowing with an ox is edification to those who already beleive, and plowing with a donkey bearing witness to those who don't.
Leaving the ox un-muzzed as it treads is plowing the feilds with faith.
A robe of wool is worn by one who's learning, and a robe of linen is worn by one who's learned. (a distinction of clothing between common people and preists.)

The deer runs gracefully, and the dove is gentle and delicate.
The vulture feeds on corpses, and the rabbit fornicates.

You shall not boil a young goat in its mothers milk;
You shall not have diverse weights, one heavy and one light;
You shall not destroy your feedom in Christ by seeking bondage to the law of flesh.

The things that die of themselves, are nations, ideologies, controversies, the pride of men, and the hope of things that are in this world.

Also, it's in the greek MT that Christ proclaims all foods clean in Mark 7:19. The nestle-aland text removes those words from his mouth and changes it to annotation.

Jesus lived under the Law.
Jesus taught like a good rabbi would teach concerning keeping kosher.

If what he said was to be taken as for not eating Kosher?
The Pharisees would have found just what they were looking for, and demand he be stoned to death.

All Jews at that time (before the church age began) were under the Mosaic law.

grace and peace....

What is interesting to note, the Hebrews aka Jews did not observe any dietary laws until around 250BC. There is amply evidence of large caches of catfish bones and numerous other "forbidden" dietary restrictions. The Jews built a Jewish temple in Elephantine in Egypt soon after the Babylonian captivity. The temple dates from around 500 BC and its building was in coordination with the Temple in Jerusalem. This indicates that King Josiah's (720 BC) sudden "discovery of Deuteronomy" which forbids building any temple except in Jerusalem did not seem well known 400 yrs later. There are a plethora of "laws" in Deuteronomy that were not known and not followed until the Maccabean revolt in the 2nd century BC. Only then, when the Jewish Hasmonean Dynasty ruled did there appear Synagogues where the common man could hear "God's Will" for the first time. Strange as it may seem, the New Testament tells us more about the keeping of the Law than does all the Hebrew Bible. When Jesus lived, the "Law" was only practiced for about 250 yrs or about the same period of time America has been operating under Constitutional law.

Now there are many Christians who have a hard time to understand the truth about clean and unclean foods.
The Mosaic Law is truth (Psalms 119:142).

Indeed, the case can be made that it is not a correct to translate it as "thus he declared all foods clean", but even if it were correct, it still wouldn't mean that we can eat unclean animals. If you overheard the average person in the US speaking about eating food, then it would be incorrect for you to assume that they were speaking about eating animals likes bats, rats, cats, dogs, horses, or vultures, so we already have a sense that certain animals are not food even though we recognize that they can be eaten. Likewise, a cannibal should not interpret Mark 7:19 as Jesus saying that human flesh is good to eat, so we should not insert whatever it that we might consider to be food into that verse, but rather we should consider Jesus to be speaking about he and the people that he was speaking to considered to be food, namely the things that the Law of God says are food. Moreover, Jesus said in Matthew 15:20 that we are not made common (koinos) by eating bread with unwashed hands, so he was not even speak about eating animals or about what kinds of things are food, but rather he was speaking in regard to a tradition of the elders about eating with unwashed hands.

The Greek words "akathartos" and "koinos" both refer to a type of devilment, but the Bible never uses them interchangeably, so while it can be correct to translate them both into English as "unclean", doing that does not retain their distinct meanings it would be incorrect to interpret the Bible saying that nothing is unclean (koinos) in itself as if it had said that nothing is unclean (akathartos).

Jesus and the Apostles quoted from the OT hundreds of times in order to support what they were saying, so it doesn't work to interpret them as speaking against following what they considered to be an authoritative source. For example, Jesus quoted three times from Deuteronomy in order to defeat the temptations of Satan, which included saying that man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God (Deuteronomy 8:3), so he affirmed God as still being an authoritative source. In Deuteronomy 12:32, it is a sin to add to subtract from the law, so Jesus did not do that. In Deuteronomy 13, the way that God instructed to determine that someone was a false prophet is if they speak against obeying what He has spoken, so it is either incorrect to interpret Jesus as speaking against obeying God's dietary laws or he was a false prophet, but either way we should still refrain from eating unclean animals. There are not good ground for a followers of Jesus to interpret Mark 7:19 as Jesus speaking against living by what God spoke in Deuteronomy 14 in regard to refraining from eating unclean animals.

We are not under law but under grace. Jesus is our new covenant.
In Romans 7, the Law of God is the a law that is the good that Paul wanted to do while the law of sin was what was hindering Paul from doing the good that he wanted to do. In Romans 6:14, Paul described the law that we are not under as being a law where sin had dominion over us, which does not describe the Law of God, but at the that is the role of the law of sin. In Romans 6:15, being under grace does not mean that we are permitted to sin, and in Romans 7:7, the Law of God is not sinful but how we know what sin is, so we are still under it.

Jesus spent his ministry teaching his followers to obey the Law of God by word and by example and the reason why he established the New Covenant was not in order to nullify anything that he spent his ministry teaching or so that we could continue to have the same lawlessness that caused the New Covenant to be needed in the first place, but rather the New Covenant still involves following the Law of God (Jeremiah 31:33, Ezekiel 36:26-27).

All that commentary is fine in its proper place.

But, what about the subject at hand?

Did Christ declare all foods clean?

I stayed on topic.
I said something pertaining to the topic.
But, your response was to wander off to someplace else.

Why was that?
