Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, as for the Lord and not for men...... Colossians 3:23

Work for most of us is a drudge. We work to live, not live to work. Sometimes we have bosses who are hard to work for. I did not respond well to bosses with unrealistic demands. I was inclined to complain and that was not a good witness.

If you are inherently negative, as I am, it's easy to find fault. However, there is an antidote. It is to have a change of attitude. I began to tell myself that I was working for Lord Jesus and that He was my boss. That makes all the difference.

Complaining is the language of doubt and unbelief. Thanks and appreciation is the language of praise. We can always find something to thank Lord Jesus for. It's not always the best and brightest who get rewarded. Often it is the worker who gets on with others and gets the job done without a lot of fuss.

At the same time, we need to be sure that we are in God's will even in our work. We will know by the peace that we have in our hearts. If we have a good attitude yet lose peace when we are at work, the Lord may be telling us it's time to move.

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body. And be thankful." Colossians 3:15

The Amplified puts it this way:

"Let the peace of Christ [the inner calm of one who walks daily with Him] be the controlling factor in your hearts [deciding and settling questions that arise]. To this peace indeed you were called as members in one body [of believers]. And be thankful [to God always]."

While this is in the context of the life of the Church, it also applies to us as individuals.

So let's ask God to change our attitude to work, if our job is a burden. Ask Him to bless us and grant us grace to be His witnesses even in the worldly environment of the workplace. Work will become less of a chore and more of a blessing.

Let us rely on God to put us in the right Job ---and the Blessing will be there from the start ---😇

In all the many years working at different jobs, I've discovered there's usually only one person I could change, & even then I need God's help, & that's ME!

Employment is part of one's integrity. Truthful, trusting, dependable ,three main character builders.

I find most don't hate their job, they hate the pay associated with it. When I was working corporate, I really didn't enjoy it very much, but the pay was great. Now I work a menial gig job that I actually quite enjoy with the freedom of setting my own hours. But the pay sucks. In capitalistic society that pay is usually inversely proportionate to the skill and difficulty to accomplish the task.

Easy to say in hindsight. As a new believer, it never occurred to me that there was a "right" job. I went looking for something I could do that would pay the bills. Even in the
"right" job, you are in the world and that has its own problems. As Jesus said, in the world, we have tribulation. We also have the victory, but not everyone knows that.

I ended up in industrial sales, pretty much by accident. It is not my natural talent. The money was good, company car and allowance. The hours were long, pressure to succeed immense and my family did not see enough of me. It's not much a choice, challenging work and being able to provide for family, or easy work and not feeding the kids. I've done it both ways (not by choice). Providing for the family beats the alternative.
