And yet they can breathe smoke amazing

Do you really find that justifying and encouraging that which is found sinful to some a act of liberty?
Wisdom cries in the streets but no man listens.
Paul put off those things that offended others for the sake of the gospel. What a example.
Sometimes the sin is not in the act but rather the power it can have over you and the reason of partaking of it.
When one becomes a prisoner of its device.

I'm not encouraging anything and we haven't proven that smoking pot is sinful

I get it there is a huge contingency of people in particular Church environments who think drugs carte blanche are all works of the devil I fully expect this kind of an attitude however it's not defensible except in the cases of drug abuse

Drugs that are opiate based having definite purpose in our society and similarly marijuana also has medical uses. This alone takes it off the table of being sin. The following question would be recreational use which in America we now have a number of states with legal recreational use of marijuana

Because of this and as time moves forward this will be more and more true to the point where it's literally recreationally approved everywhere moving a little further down the road 10 15 20 years, and since the Bible doesn't condemn it, despite some people attempts at making it appear so in the first place... will the church still cling to it being the devil weed.

I think the history of alcohol only partly speaks to this as it relates to none sobriety however I do not believe that the Protestant churches on the whole condemn having a beer perhaps in the very early days of our society this may have been true likewise as I projected a decade or two in the future for the church still demonize a herb of the Earth that literally has hundreds of different uses from food to medicinal to clothing to ropes and ultimately to recreational use

I'm not condoning the use I'm saying it can't be condemned as Sin

That's just been pointed out already and immature marijuana plant that has not fully flowered is where we get the term hemp as it has a very low THC content if you were to let that hemp plant continue to grow it would literally be a full-blown marijuana High concentrate THC plant it's not two separate plants

Sailors used to chew on the end of the hemp rope used to moore the ships it was called The Bitter End and you chewed it to relax and take a break not to get super high

Anyway this isn't a discussion about justifying marijuana use because if that's the case I can justify it instantly God gave us a choice we can do what we want we have free will we can easily choose the wrong thing if it were actually wrong

But this over jealous mindset about this and technically several other things that we find in the church is well-meaning and I could even argue good ideas for example some Protestant institutions believe dancing is a sin. But in reality this is simply a guardrail around the belief system so that people don't wander too far. sure enough dancing can get you in very close contact and eventually lead to lustful thoughts and actions but dancing itself it's not a sin.

You're such an extremist and overly dramatic he didn't create them to inhale water either but water is good for us

Alright, lets see you go inhale some water then.

News Flash - Trying to inhale water is a perversion of what God created lungs to do. Hello!

Back in my younger yrs pot in any quantity was illegal.
Now that its not in certain quantity..... laws had to be placed in the work place and added to impairment in driving regulations.
How can you say that its harmless?

And I really don't take issue with in particular the last part of your statement there week-minded people should not be taking drugs at all as they are intrinsically psychotropic in nature and deal more with the mind and therefore if you do not already have I guess the easiest term would be the armor of God and particular the helm participating in mind altering substances is a very bad idea

Well you you kind of reinforce my point earlier my comment about water was based on your commentary that smoking anything is sin because the lungs weren't designed for that

And yeah you can to a degree smoke water that's what vaporizing is offer news when you have a cold and want to get some of that Memphiliptus in your head

We have a rich history of using tobacco not only for smoking but for many other things including medicines and treatment of a number of nerve issues

The same argument I would have that marijuana is not sin it's the same one I could have about tobacco not being sin.

More importantly and I think many of us including me tend to forget this if there was an easy way to say marijuana is saying tobacco is sin water is sin we would have found in the last 2,000 years away to make this very clear and yet here we are 2,000 years later still trying to prove one way or the other

Alcohol marijuana once saved always saved the rapture the order of Revelation there's a reason there is not a Line in the Sand in the Bible I would argue that we would strive to find that answer and not try to pick a side and defend it

People are responsible for their own actions if they smoke pot and do something harmful that's on them not on the pot.. people kill people not guns

I guess I should point out I'm not questioning whether it's a sin or not I'm asking you all the question it wasn't a debate to find out how what I should believe I don't believe it's a sin and there's nothing that I've seen or read to the contrary in the Bible only oblique allusions and inferences can be found.
Yeah, I quoted Scripture and you bald-faced denied it. Speaking plainly of sobriety is not some oblique allusion. Wake up, dude.

I stopped reading after this sentence. With regards to steak, if you're referring to a beef steak that's a superfood that is very good for us... unless you drink the globalist kool-aid that would have us eating insects and lab grown fake meat.

Yup, Instead of steak, I smell another disciple of Ellen G. White.

What part of "Jesus was not abusing alcohol or sinning an when he drank a cup of wine" do you not understand and you cannot make the leap for some reason to substituting a joint in that.

I quoted plenty of scripture I cited several verses the fact that you refuse to see the truth that is in them means you're denying the scripture

See we can play this game all day long because quoting scripture means nothing when it's misinterpreted.

Thus I presented a very good argument that Jesus not getting intoxicated at the Last Supper is no different than a man going home and smoking a joint and not getting intoxicated while watching news but I will state that Jesus had to feel something.

you can't just consume alcohol to no effect so there is a Nuance to the event I don't believe you're saying drinking a glass of wine is a sin so how can you say smoking a joint is a sin if you don't believe it fine but you're never going to prove it to me either because I'm right or because you're wrong.

Im asking specifically, in the future when weed is legal recreationally...
The true church has no concern, indeed, no connection with, what the world may say is legal or illegal. Rather, what does God's word say about what is Lawful or unLawful?

...will the church still think it's a sin.
For I am the Lord, I change not (Malachi 3).

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever (Hebrews 13).

Yeah that's all meaningless there is no word in God's word about smoking marijuana and if you follow through the thread I won't have to repeat myself

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? (1 Cor. 6).

Marijuana is an addictive psychotropic drug and a gateway drug.

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12). Smoking marijuana also qualifies as "strange incense" (Exodus 30).

All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any (1 Cor. 6).

That is completely incorrect marijuana is a herbal plant that can be used in many different fashions it is us who have demonized it largely by those who don't have any self control

Second I completely reject that marijuana is a gateway drug this is just somebody's excuse I don't know anybody that smoked a joint and says wow I need to do cocaine at the very best going to your weed dealer might put you in the presence of somebody with other drugs but marijuana itself is just a plant

To use a common phrase guns don't kill kill people people do

You can forget all of the pseudotechnical terms like psychotropic and the like what you're really condemning is that people get enjoyment out of smoking it and by proxy you don't seem to think that as Christians were allowed to have any pleasure

Now the big shock is and I'll let you do the research because I'm not going to go dig it up again the ingredients used to generate the smoke aside from the meat that goes into the holy of holies which is a smoke tent that a high priest goes in and talks with God once a year has several psychotropic and psychedelic ingredients it is incredibly difficult to believe that a man who spends any amount of time in a tent filled with smoke from these ingredients does not in some form get affected by them

Then there is the history just within Judaism and or Christianity were intoxicating drugs were used a good example of this is frankincense myrrh Mandrake and picknard all of which are intoxicants and if I remember correctly Mandrake can create hallucinations

We westerners see drugs through the lens of people who have abused them in particularly in the 60s and '70s. And they truly caused a blight on society however most other societies especially the further back in time you go the more venerated these plants and their effects were as a way to reach further into spirituality and God.

these plants and the technology to produce other forms of drugs were giving To Us by God so while you can condemn Behavior on the basis of people abusing drugs it's not the drugs that are the problem it's societies choices to abuse them.

But I don't want this topic to go Haywire it's a serious question but there are some pre-qualifiers that I'd like you to Define

1.Smoking cigarette tobacco is not a sin for example if one has a cigarette in the morning or perhaps after meal it is doing no more damage to a person's body than eating a steak and therefore claiming oh it's bad for you is a misnomer. To the point marijuana is considerably less damaging than a cigarette. If you are already going to claim that smoking cigarettes is a sin then I'm not actually interested in your response as I already know what that response is.

Currently many states allow medicinal use of marijuana and some recreational if we advance time let's say 25 years and we do make an assumption that marijuana is now recreational with similar guardrails that alcohol has.

Based on this premise would Church environments still claim that smoking weed is a sin.

The truth with anything including alcohol is everything should be in moderation as Paul states "everything is permissible but not all things are edifying".

And let me reiterate I'm not asking for anybody to tell me that it is currently a sin. And the assumption is that it is in moderation.

Im asking specifically, in the future when weed is legal recreationally will the church still think it's a sin.

You keep saying "sin" so you understand why you should not smoke. Smoking is significantly more dangerous to health than eating meat. Hmm what matters is as Christ once said "not my will be done but your will be done". Seems as if your trying to convince your self Smoking cigarette's and pot is ok. Never in my 65 years found any Church, bible study where this is ok to do. The world.. well they are on your side in this case. You backed nothing up with Gods word.

We don’t justify smoking by saying 'eating meat, according to WHO, is just as harmful as smoking.' The fact that eating meat may be harmful does not make smoking acceptable. For me I can eat meat (cooked) vs taking a drag of a cig.. and gag, keep coughing.. almost get sick. That's just the body not the word of GOD. You oddly didn't touch what pot does to body. Just things like.. for some reason you can't turn to page 58.. its not there.. you kept seeing cars go forward then come backwards.... you can't stop laughing.. or you tell your other friend.. there's a bear after you and he is so scared takes off across the park knowing some bear is chasing him because he was high. Shall I go on? More scary things..... this was me lol junior high/high School.

When you know Christ.. didn't need someone to tell me it was wrong to do. He in you tells you.. but you can do what you want and He will say nothing but remember you freely did it..you willingly made the choice. So any thing that comes for it.. not of GOD you allowed it NOT Him

Yeah you guys can't seem to understand this is not a personal Quest I don't smoke cigarettes or pot although I used to. I used the word sin because it is a specific biblical term that I am suggesting is not applicable to marijuana or even tobacco

what I'm saying is this object in this case cigarettes or pot which has been condemned as Sin traditionally it has no basis to be condemned. for every reason that it is condemned(health, intoxicating, pleasure, ect.) There are equal examples of things that do the same which are perfectly acceptable.
