The difference I see from then and Now is the sending of the Holy Spirit after the Cross, that enables us to keep the commandments and all Laws that flow from tham that are still applicable today. the contents of the covenant is the same and always will be As we know God does not change. God's plan is over time and restorative. Yes Jesus will come soon.
Old Covenant: Law written on stone - reveals sin but doesn’t change the heart
New Covenant: Law written on the heart - transforms the person and enables obedience through the Spirit

Same standard of righteousness Psa 119:172 Isa56:1-2 because His is everlasting Psa 119:142 and the foundation of His throne Psa 89:14

God bless!

Grace alone? I ask did Jesus teach this? Is what Jesus say of any importance to you?

No, Jesus did not teach “grace alone” as people often say it today.

He showed that God is full of mercy, ready to forgive, and kind to sinners. This is grace. But He never said that grace removes the need to obey, to repent, or to change our life.

Listen to His own words.

In John 8:11 (ASV), after forgiving the woman, He said,
“Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”
He gives mercy first, but then calls her to stop sinning.

In Matthew 7:21 (ASV), He said,
“Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.”
So it is not words or belief alone, but doing the Father’s will.

In Luke 6:46 (ASV), He said,
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”
Calling Him Lord is not enough. We must follow what He says.

In Matthew 19:17 (ASV), when asked about eternal life, He answered,
“If thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments.”
He did not point to grace alone, but to a life that obeys God.

In John 14:15 (ASV), He said,
“If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments.”
Love and obedience go together.

And He also warned in Matthew 7:24–27 that the wise man is the one who hears His words and does them. The one who hears but does not act falls.

So what do we see?

Grace is real. God reaches out first. He forgives, He calls, He gives us a chance to live. But Jesus never taught that grace stands alone. Grace is the beginning, not the end.

The path He showed is this:
repent, believe, obey, and remain faithful to the end..

Grace opens the door, but we must walk in the way. Grace alone are we saved through Christ. Not by works or the bondage to the laws of the OT.

Titus 1:14 "Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth."

In the context of Jesus' teachings, the phrase about new wine being poured into new wineskins symbolizes the transition from the Old Covenant (represented by the Old Testament) to the New Covenant established by Christ. This illustrates that the new teachings and grace of Jesus cannot be contained within the old religious structures and laws, as they are fundamentally incompatible.

Colossians 2:14

“Having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.”

Hebrews 8:13

“By calling this covenant ‘new,’ he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.”

@BetterCallPsalms Just to clarify when I say the commandments of God I am referring to the Ten Commandments- what God Himself claimed as His commandments Exo20:6 in a unit of Ten Deut4:13 written personally by God Exo31:18 inside His ark Exo25:16 under His mercy seat Exo25:21 and in His heavenly Temple Rev11:19

I believe the words of the law did not change just as God promised Psa89:34 Mat5:18-19 the location changed from written on stone to being written in the heart and minds of is New Covenant believer. Not based on what we will do like the OT which promises failed Exo19:8 but on the better promise Heb8:6 of what God will do Heb8:10 if we love and cooperate with Him John14:15-18.

I see you are liking my posts, but I have a feeling you might not understand what I am referring to which is why I wanted to clarify.

God bless!

Yes, I understand Heb 4:7, Heb 3:7-11 is directly quoting David in Psa 95, that is not the argument I have ever made.

What I was quoting directly from God, the reason He gave on why the Israelites rebelled and could not enter their rest. Which was not for keeping the Sabbath, but not keeping it- God said it plainly Eze20:13 Eze 20:15-16 and He goes on to explain its a bigger issue than just profaning the Sabbath- it shows one places what God said with another voice and He related it to idol worship.

It was a very big issue and it caused a whole generation to lose their inheritance why in the NT we are called not to follow in the same example of disobedience lest we fall too Heb4:11

We are free to accept the warning from God because He loves us and wants us to make better decisions or we can continue hardening our heart as well and I guess hope for a different result despite the clear warning.

The Sabbath rest of the believer is entering Christ by faith. It is a 7 days out of 7 days life-style... not a 1 in 7 as Judaizers practice.

We enter by faith agreed, but those who enter by faith also rest as God did Heb4:10 on the seventh day Heb4:4 Exo20:11 Gen2:3 because no one in God's rest is in rebellion to one of His commandments Exo20:6 Rev14:12 Isa 48:18 hence Heb4:6 Eze20:13 Heb3:7-19 Eze 20:15-16 Heb4:11

You skipped the part that causes violence to your doctrine.

"Since therefore it remains that some must enter it, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter because of disobedience, 7again He designates a certain day, saying in David, “Today,” after such a long time, as it has been said:

Today, if you will hear His voice,
Do not harden your hearts.”

The day to enter God's rest is "Today"... that is my point.

To continue: "For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His."

So, how does man cease from his works? By dying. A dead man cannot do his own work. He is dead to his own work and he is dead to the law.

"Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death..."

"For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11Likewise, you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

The man becomes, by faith, a living sacrifice. He does not arise as part man, part living sacrifice. He becomes a living sacrifice 100%. He no longer has works of his own, "A son can only do what he sees his Father (in heaven) doing." He has no life of his own... his life is God's life.

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship."

Yes, the Holy Spirit s pleading which Hebrews is echoing Today if you hear His voice do not harden your hearts as those in the trial of the wilderness

Heb 3:7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says:

Today, if you will hear His voice,
8 Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion,
In the day of trial in the wilderness,

9 Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me,
And saw My works forty years.
10 Therefore I was angry with that generation,
And said, ‘They always go astray in their heart,
And they have not known My ways.’
11 So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest.’ ”

And what was their rebellion in the wilderness this same passage is warning us of today, if we hear Him?

Eze 20:13 Yet the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness; they did not walk in My statutes; they despised My judgments, ‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; and they greatly defiled My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

Which caused them to lose their inheritance not not enter their rest/land full of milk and honey because . . .

Eze 20:15 So I also raised My hand in an oath to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, ‘flowing with milk and honey,’ the glory of all lands, 16 because they despised My judgments and did not walk in My statutes, but profaned My Sabbaths; for their heart went after their idols.

No wonder why in the NT we are told not to follow in that same example of disobedience lest we fall too.

Heb 4:11 Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience

Doing the same thing that left an entire generation out of their promised rest is not the way back to reconciliation. In God's rest no one is in rebellion to His commandments.

What do you mean by continue to sin? I've been saved 54 years. I still sin from time to time. I was impatient with my wife for no good reason just yesterday. Does that disqualify me from heaven?
Only Jesus can tell and will judge us all according to his Words, he does forgive but experts us to change.

So let me ask: Can you enter God's rest today, 4/14/2026?
Yes, anytime we can go to Him for rest, this rest He gives us is from sin

Psa 38:3 There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.4 For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.

Today, we can hear His voice calling us out of our rebellion to Him which is unbelief, disobedience and sin Heb 3:7-19

Those who enter His rest are not in rebellion to Him or His commandments why its rest. Isa 48:18 Rev14:12 Those who enter by faith do something in addition

Heb 4: 10 For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.

When did God cease from His works? Did he rest from His works 7 days? No, just one day

Heb 4:4 For He has spoken in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works

This really cannot be made more plain. Those who enter His rest by faith also rest from their works as God did on the seventh day, because man was made in the image of God Gen1:26

This is what He who has spoken of in a certain place of the seventh day in this way said:

Exo 20:1 And God spoke all these words, saying:

8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

If people want to call me names for wanting to place my faith in God and trust not just in 9 of His Ten commandments that He personally wrote and spoke but all of them, the one commandment He said Remember that man teaches to forget, so be it, its what I was told would happen Rev12:17

The rest He gives is from work; not sin. The rest is modeled after God's rest and He never sinned.

One has not entered into His rest if they continue working. Keeping the law is not rest. It is work.

The rest from work is the Sabbath rest which is on the seventh day Luke23:56 Exo20:8-11 the rest from sin can be any day. There are several different meanings of rest, not all rests are on the seventh day, just the Sabbath the one where He tells us not to work Exo20:8-11 He tells us to work the six other days Exo20:9 because being lazy is not healthy for anyone and we have to work to support ourselves.

yeah they use this and say "But I rest every single day, I don't need to Keep the sabbath." How many times have I heard this. or worse they call it a work.

Me too! Its impossible to keep the Sababth seven days a week, because only one day is the Sabbath

Exo 20:10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God.

No one could survive without working 7 days a week- why its important to trust God that He knows what He is doing and everything He asks of us is for our own good. 1John5:3

Here cameron;

Come to Me, and I Will Give You Rest

Mat 11:25 At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

Mat 11:26 Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

Mat 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

Mat 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Mat 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Mat 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

@Cameron143

I posted on this thread also;

Jesus spoke often about rest, but not the kind people first think of. He was not speaking of sleep or stopping work for a day. He was speaking of the deep rest of the soul, a rest that comes when a person returns to God and walks in His ways.

He said, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28, ASV). These words are gentle and open. He calls those who are tired, not only in body, but in heart. Many carry burdens of sin, fear, guilt, and the pressure of this world. These things make the soul restless. Christ offers something different.

Then He says, “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:29–30, ASV). This may sound strange at first. How can a yoke, which is something placed on someone, bring rest? But Jesus shows that His way is not like the heavy ways of men. His yoke is not oppression, but guidance. It is walking with Him, learning from Him, step by step.

The rest He gives is not found in doing nothing, but in doing what is right with a willing heart. When a person fights against God, there is no peace inside. But when he turns, obeys, and trusts, the struggle inside becomes calm. This is the rest of Christ.

He also showed this in how He lived. He did not chase after the things of the world. He trusted the Father in all things. Even in trouble, He remained at peace. This is the example He gives to those who follow Him.

Jesus warned that many people are always busy, always worried. He said, “Be not anxious for your life” (Matthew 6:25, ASV), and again, “Be not therefore anxious for the morrow” (Matthew 6:34, ASV). Worry takes away rest. It fills the heart with fear. But trust in God brings quietness inside.

There is also a deeper part to His rest. He said, “If ye abide in my word, then are ye truly my disciples; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31–32, ASV). Freedom and rest go together. When a person is bound by sin, he has no rest. But when he keeps the words of Christ, he becomes free, and his soul finds peace.

And again He said, “If a man keep my word, he shall never see death” (John 8:51, ASV). This shows that His rest is not only for this life, but also for what is to come. It is a rest that begins now and continues into eternal life.

From the beginning, God showed the pattern of rest. After His work, He rested. Not because He was tired, but to show completion and peace. Christ brings that same completion into the heart. When a person comes to Him, the wandering stops, the searching ends, and the heart finds its place.

But this rest is not forced on anyone. Jesus said, “If any man willeth to do his will, he shall know of the teaching” (John 7:17, ASV). The rest is for those who choose to follow. It is for those who hear His words and do them. Like the wise man who built his house upon the rock (Matthew 7:24–25), they stand firm and are not shaken. That firmness is also part of His rest.

So the rest of Christ is a living rest. It is peace with God, freedom from sin, a quiet heart without fear, and a steady walk in truth. It is not empty or idle. It is full of life, light, and purpose. And it is given freely to all who come to Him and remain in His word.

Galatians 5:22-25 KJV
22) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23) Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

This is the life/character the Holy Spirit bears within us.

The admonition is:

Galatians 5:25 KJV
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

Being baptized into Christ, made alive in the Spirit, we are to go on to walk in the Spirit.

Romans 5:1-2 KJV
1) Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
2) By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

By faith, we choose to walk in the Spirit. If we are lacking faith, we are walking according to the flesh, as though we were not regenerated.

Much love!

There is a contrast to those who are walking in the flesh to those who are walking in the Spirit

Rom 8:4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit

Because those who loves Jesus keep His commandments and the Holy Spirit enables His believer to do so.

John 14:15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

In contrast those who refuse to subject themselves to the law of God the Holy Spirit has no where to work on their hearts so has no choice but depart

Rom8: 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

That's the contrast- I know many claim they are in Christ but not follow what Christ asks- He will sort that out when He returns.

What we do not want to hear is this:

1John2:4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him
Mat 7: 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

But this instead...

Rev 22:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city
