What are y'all's thoughts on women wearing head coverings? Is this passage saying we should? Or is our hair a head covering? This is a passage that has confused me some for a while now.

People think it is a head covering but it is not.
It is speaking of hair.
God wants a distinction between a man and a woman.
Some people will say it is legalistic do not tell me how to have my hair.
But God says this is what He wants.
1Ti 2:9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
1Ti 2:10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
1Pe 3:3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
1Pe 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
Like some people say it is legalistic do not tell me not to adorn myself with my outer appearance.
But this is what God wants.
It is strange that people say it is legalistic when it is what God wants.
1Co 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
The authority structure of God on earth, God, Christ, man, woman.
This does not mean men have authority above women in general but husbands and it should be a man to lead the congregation.
And for husbands they are to lead in the ways of God.
So they have nowhere to glory for it is not their will but God's will.
In the Lord there is no difference between male and female.
1Co 11:4 Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
If a man has his hair covering his head he dishonors his head.
1Co 11:5 But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
If a woman has her head not covered by hair she dishonors her head.
If she cuts her hair it is the same as if she is shaven.
And she puts herself in the place of a man out of place of the authority structure.
1Co 11:6 For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
1Co 11:7 For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
Women should have long uncut hair.
And men should cut their hair and not cover their head for they are in the image of God.
Jesus came in the image of God so He would of not had long hair.
Someone may say what about Samson.
Samson was not in the image of God.
Adam and Eve were created in the image of God an innocent nature in flesh.
When they sinned they fell out of the image of God and no person was in the image of God until Jesus came.
And then all those led of the Spirit.
1Co 11:10 For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
Women should have long uncut hair because of the angels who are last in the authority structure.
1Co 11:13 Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
1Co 11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
1Co 11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
It is a shame for a man to have long hair.
And long hair on a woman is a glory to her.
For her hair is given her for a covering.
The Bible is speaking of hair as the covering for women not a material covering.
The short answer is that hair is given as a head covering.
The long answer is far more complex and will probably make your head spin.
The head covering passage is all about the application of proper authority, in terms of proper spiritual alignment, such that we all remain protected. Specifically, in this instance, we're talking about the woman.
The concluding rationale is given in verse 10:
"For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels." (1 Corinthians chapter 11)
It was common knowledge that a repeat of the Genesis chapter 6 episode, where fallen angels mated with earthly women, was not only possible but probable. IOW, these rebellious and malevolent angels remain highly desirous of earthly women. And that is why it's still vital to this day that our women remain "under cover."
The woman if obedient to the Lords commands should cover her hair , read 1 Corinthians 14 . She also is to be in submission to men in the church. It’s rare to find an obedient church these days . Also 1 Timothy speaks about it ch 2 speaks about being in submission to men . Certainly not common these days . The woman should cover her head and hair , because it’s the glory of Man . Is not a woman with long hair beautiful and glorious? I’d say so . But we seek to honour the glory of God not the glory of man . God bless as you honour God !
I'm not sure I fully understand this passage; but I do know the early Christian style of dress was polar opposite to that of the culture. Many Roman women wore clothing that was meant to reveal, not conceal. Even married women dolled themselves up to attract attention from men. Christian women were taught to do the polar opposite. They were taught to be deferential and respectful, both toward men and angels. Just a few thoughts.
You are taking a very shallow reading of these passages, applying a traditional interpretation to them, and drawing a conclusion that appears rational but is actually not supported by the text and context.
God made men AND women in His image. Men assume women are inferior and, in fulfillment of Genesis 3:16, rule over them.
This is not God’s will.
IMO this is an injunction to the church in a region of the world (Corinth) where how one adorned their head was a signal to others of their availability for a sexual relationship and of their submission to the authority of the men who were their guardians, whether husbands/fiances or fathers. Some were giving the wrong signals socially regarding the church’s standards re the social hierarchy of men and women by flouting the cultural norms, which was unwisely misrepresenting to the unsaved Corinthian society the church’s position on appropriate roles and attitudes for women. Make-up and head-dress that was used in the society to arouse sexual attention, and had been forbidden by church elders or husbands for that reason, was inappropriate for Christian women and revealed a rebellious spirit that was incompatible with the role of prophetess.
