That, by itself, is not a commandment. It is a statement;

The scribe asked " Which is the first of all the commandments"?
Jesus answered " The first of all the commandments is". Then Jesus start to mention the first commandment. "Hear O Israel: The Lord our God is One Lord.
The verse 28 starts the first commandment.
MARK 12:28-31
28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
The first commandment encompasses
“Hear O Israel: The Lord our God is One Lord“
AND
“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.”
All of that is ONE commandment.
Do we agree on that much?
Yes I agree on this.
This is the complete sum of the first commandment.
“Hear O Israel: The Lord our God is One Lord“
AND
“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.”
All of that is ONE commandment.
That is why there is the word AND because loving God is just a continuation of "Hear O Israel: The Lord our God is One Lord".
Therefore: Verse 30 is just a continuation of verse 29.
Whoever using his own intellect to understand the words of God. Mark 12:29 never be a commandment.
But upon checking the conversation of the Scribe & Jesus you will notice that Mark 12:29 is a commandment.
MARK 12:28-29
28 And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and perceiving that he had answered them well, asked him, Which is the first commandment of all?

You just contradicted yourself.
In post 103 I asked you whether you agree that all of verses , I asked whether all of
“Hear O Israel: The Lord our God is One Lord“
AND
“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.”
is one commandment.
You answered in post 104, "Yes I agree on this. This is the complete sum of the first commandment."
Now you are saying that the first sentence only is the first commandment.
You can't even keep things straight for two posts!
Now you throw shade at anyone who disagrees with your assessment, WHICH CONTRADICTS YOUR OWN PREVIOUS ASSESSMENT. You changed your mind.
So we have clear evidence that you are using your own very flawed and frail intellect to understand the words of God.
1 Samuel 15:29 He who is the Glory of Israel does not lie or change his mind; for he is not a human being, that he should change his mind.”
Jesus was asked a direct question and gave a direct answer. What shall I do to inherit eternal life? Jesus said keep the commandments and started quoting the Ten Commandments Exo20:1-17
Jesus knew He was speaking to a very rich young ruler, He knew His weakness so tested him and started quoting the commandments from the second tablet of the Ten Commandments of how man is to love one another Exo20:12-17. The young ruler said he has been keeping all of these why Jesus tested him because He knew his weakness- his great riches. So He asked him to give them up (sell everything) and follow Him. That was too much for the rich young ruler because he had great riches so while he kept some of the commandments to love thy neighbor he broke the greatest commandments of all to love God with all our mind, heart and soul and placed his great riches over the commandment to not have any other gods before Me breaking the first commandments of the Ten Commandments. Exo20:3 The ironic thing was even though he kept his great riches, he still went away sad, because what is money if we lose our souls.
I don't see any contradiction.
I emphasized that Mark 12:29 is also a commandment (part of the 1st commandment) because I can hear some preachers saying Mark 12:30 is the first commandment only.
I already discern when you ask the question. And I shared the truth for the lost sheep of God.
Your purpose is not to find the truth but to entangle the truth.
MATTHEW 22:15-16
15 Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.
16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.
“But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”
1 Timothy 6:
“The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus.”
Luke 16:14 NIV
The truth is:
The blind people in the eyes of God are those they believe and read the words of God but can't identify who God the Father is.
Even they insist that they are not but they can't denied the truth.
JOHN 8:54-55
54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.
JOHN 9:40-41
40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
Tough one. Every situation is different but Jesus was asking him to give up what he loved.
In the case of the young ruler. He did not believe that Lord Jesus is speaking in Parables.
MARK 4:34
34 But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.
MATTHEW 13:10
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
And so the young ruler thought that Jesus is referring to his literal physical treasure.
There are disciples of Jesus who are rich in literal physical treasure but they were saved like Luke who is a doctor & Joseph of Arimathaea.
COLOSSIANS 4:14
14 Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas, greet you.
MATTHEW 27:57
57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:
If the young ruler humble himself, beg and ask Jesus Mercy to reveal the meaning of Jesus commandment.
Then Jesus will reveal to him that he is referring to spiritual wealth in young ruler's heart.
MATTHEW 6:21
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Thir treasure is the wisdom in the word of God that was planted by the preachers of old in the hearts of the Jews.
This is the same treasure that preachers today plant in the word of God.
How to sell and how to distribute the treasures to the poor.
We must beg and ask Mercy to Lord Jesus too so he can reveal how.

Seems he was in step with his servant and apostle Paul

Luke 19:8-9 KJV
No one can gain the "Gift" of eternal life of or by their own efforts -- if one could -- then they achieved it themselves. They earned it.
Without the Father calling a person to Christ -- not one would or could follow Christ by their own power, their own will.
When Christ stated "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Christ was revealing there is nothing a person can do to gain eternal life -- even obeying the Commandments, which can not be done humanly, Christ only has obeyed perfectly.
Without the Father's ONE Spirit in us --doing the work, converting our carnal human nature -- not one person can be saved.
Christ told us there has not been one Good person - ever!
With out the Holy Spirit in a person, converting that person -- salvation is impossible.
It must be God our Father doing the work.
Without the Father calling a person to Christ -- not one would or could follow Christ by their own power, their own will.
