Marrieds can answer this one...do you remember proposing or being proposed to?
Was it anything special 'popping the question'? On bended knee? With a ring?
Who was asking the bride or the groom?
Was it a surprise?
Private or totally in public?
Did you answer yes or did you refuse at first?
How many times did you ask, or did you just kind of hint you were going to?
Did anything go wrong...?
How long was your engagement/betrothal?
Spill...
I first met my now wife in 1983. We've been married 3-1/2 years. You can't rush these things.........
I'd been staying in her house for some years as her late husband needed a lot of help. Myself and another believer stayed there. It worked out well.
Her husband passed away in 2011. I considered moving out as the other believer left to get married. We talked about it and it seemed OK to stay. People are less judgemental than they used to be. It was purely brother/sister relationship. The only time I went in her room was to vacuum.
A few years ago, my wife got very ill. She was in hospital for 3 weeks and nearly died. It was during Covid. Visiting was difficult and for the first week or so she was in ICU, hardly conscious. I realised then that I had a deep attachment for this woman that I'd known for so long. I proposed to her a few days after she came home.
The answer was, I thought, a bit odd. We'd been going out a lot, especially after I retired in 2016. She said that we'd never been on a date. Being about as dumb as they come when it comes to romance, I sat on that information for some time. She dropped a hint or two and finally it dawned on me. So I invited her on a formal date. Then another, flowers the whole bit. I proposed after a decent dinner. It was a romantic spot, but freezing that evening. We got engaged in June and married in October.
We are both in our 70's and we love being married. I could not ask for a better wife.
