Blessings and cheers SM, glad i decided to look in here quickly. Hope your weekend was crazy in a good way and no worries, you're not late replying, especially since the great advice you offer is free and makes a lot more sense to me than the rubbish most allopathic "Doctors" spout!
"Fasting actually causes your body to ditch magnesium and other electrolytes, which can cause severe cramping."
Ah! I did wonder if there might be a link, sounds like it's likely best to take it with something it can bind with? Think i mentioned i haven't been one for supplements much so far but being old now and still veggie, it's probably best to start doing so. Your fasting rec. seems sound too, once again, strict fasting at my age can probably cause more problems than it sorts.
Cheers and hugs for your great advice, i'm going to have a pretty early night, it's just gone 10pm here. God's blessings and all that's good from me for now![]()
Haha it was mostly good crazy, I had some errands that were outside my realm of expertise. Plus our youth group was responsible for the Sunday morning service, and I was mostly responsible for organizing them. It was like herding squirrels
Truly, fasting 2-3 days a week seems excessive even for a middle-aged non-vegetarian. In your case I think a steady flow of nutrients is pretty essential, when we are younger our bodies can synthesize a lot of the compounds we need (like collagen), but as we age it doesn't keep up as well. Fasting can also cause dehydration, which can lead to cramps. Magnesium on an empty stomach can irritate your stomach lining and cause digestive cramping as well.
For additional supplements you might look in to vitamin B-12, iron, and biotin (which should help your hair). You can get tested for specific nutrient deficiencies though, so you don't waste money on the wrong supplements.
I appreciate your kind words! Maybe I should go for a naturopathic certification
