this can be done by our Maturing in our walk with Christ -----the battle in fighting this and having victory is -----Purge the Heart of worldly stuff ------that is the Battle ------and it is not an easy battle to win ------most of us will never reach the victory ---as it takes ---Stamina to Mature and stay the course --


To tame the tongue first requires you to purify the Heart -----What is in the Heart the mouth speaks

To Tame the tongue takes woks on our part with the help of Holy Spirit ----

A pure heart, characterized by inner integrity and sincerity, naturally produces gracious, kind, and good speech.

From my extensive study, which goes far beyond just what is in the Protestant Bible, I have come to suspect that a key part of Sin, which we cannot defeat on our own, is what we call "the ego". No part of our consciousness will fight harder to maintain itself than our ego, and our ego will drive us to do many things we do not really want to do, but we still feel forced to take the action, including saying things we don't really want to say.

I'm right with you on the ego
Paul 2 thousand years earlier called it the flesh
It took that long for psychology to catch up
I know all about the ego/ flesh v the spirit
It's a daily
Hourly
Sometimes minutely occurrence that I have to endure
Often I "fail"
But the very fact I'm even attempting to fight is a spiritual victory
The unregenerate wouldn't even notice anything
As the don't have the spirit to gently guide in the opposite direction

My experience is that it is an entity in its own right
It's beautifully described in the lyrics of the bucks fizz number one hit
The land of make-believe
The second verse goes

There are at least four different collections called by different Christian groups called "the Holy Bible". The Protestant version is the shortest/smallest of the four. The RCC Bible is the next shortest, the Syrian version includes more Psalms (155) and the Ethiopic contains 88 books if I remember correctly, some of which I think are questioned by Peter.

But, since the last I knew, only the RCC among the major denominations has declared that we have a closed canon, I find it important to distinguish the different collections of "scripture", as well as the fact that nowhere do we have a clear statement from God as to just which specific works constitutes "scripture". We only have statements by humans as to what they accept as scripture.

It most definitely does make sense. I think I have seen a claim that supports your understanding., I am in the process of rereading various books and articles where I might have seen what I think I saw. If I remember correctly, it can make a huge difference. Sometimes the smallest things can make the biggest differences.

I study extensively, and check with recognized experts in various fields, to confirm that I am seeing what I think I am seeing. Many times I have astonished the experts with insights that they say make sense and they wonder how I came to them. I tend to say either divine inspiration or else dumb luck, take your pick.

Most people speak reflexively. Often the motive behind the speech is emotional. One can want to instruct, appear knowledgeable, say something clever, and even strike out when hurt.

As a Christian matures in faith and walks moire by the Spirit than the flesh speech motive becomes less emotional and reactive and more thoughtful and in consideration of that which might edify.
