That was the prosecution and murder of a woman caught in adultery.

Women/wives were often physically forced into adultery. This was likely a case of just that. A woman forced onto marrying another man while legally married to another man who refused to return her dowry to her and divorce her properly.
(The marriage and divorce rate was a scandal among the Pharisees....tantamount to literal wife swapping)

So....
What many are missing is the Laws listed in the Torah for dealing with an unfaithful wife. Her husband is required to be present to bring the accusations. So is the guy she was committing the adultery with.
Then the questions would start so they could be properly written down, burned, and mixed with dirt from the floor of the temple. Then added to water in a particular pitcher and given to the woman to drink. God was to judge her and not the men.
The men however were to be judged by stoning. Women were not.

And if you knew the Old Testament scriptures you would pick up on these details from the story in John 8 that truly belongs in Mark.

“For Scripture says, “Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain,” and “The worker deserves his wages.””
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭5‬:‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Sharing the truth to the people is not a profession for earning a salary. It is a privilege, an act of gratitude to God who has given the truth through His word. Therefore, it should be given freely, without charge.
MATTHEW 10:8
8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

Look at Jesus in his role as Son of the living God. Being the model 1 Peter 2:21
He has his profession for living as carpenter.
MARK 6:3
3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

Paul as the chosen of God, being a real Prophet. He followed Jesus as his model.
1 CORINTHIANS 11:1
11 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.

And so Paul had a profession too as a tentmaker

ACTS 18:3-4
3 And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.
4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

Jesus and Paul both sharing the truth to the Jews every sabbath day (rest day) only which is equivalent of Sunday in our generation.

But during weekdays, they work using their profession to support their needs in life.

In short, they are fulfilling the will of God with this weekly routine.

Why can’t you see this, when it is clearly written?

You are making many assumptions.

Nope....not at all.
These facts are well established and documented.
Anthropology studies that cover this are usually not well discussed in most churches due to ignorance by some and conflicts with traditional practices/beliefs. The largest of these groups being the SBC in which Lifeway publishers is usually locked step with traditional SBC beliefs.
Catholics have their own set of traditional beliefs concerning divorce which don't go anywhere near scriptures to begin with.

However....just because Anthropology is deliberately ignored doesn't mean it's not true or documented. And just because the largest publishers of literature have doctrines that are themselves contradictory and contradict scriptures doesn't mean anything....it's kinda normal.

There's a "rubber meeting road" moment here in scriptures and instead of showing how God/Jesus really does understand, love, and care about us on an individual basis....most religious leadership choose to teach something else.

People, who have dominance over others, will often abuse their position. Not everyone does this....but enough that it's almost accepted as a normal practice whether it's right or not.

The Jewish men did this to women/wives and todays religious leadership has done this by ignorance or keeping the truth silent.

But this is also the information age....and those interested can research anything. (If they know how to vet resources so they don't get duped by frauds)

By all means, do not take my word for how I explained the scriptures.
Research into "put away wives" extensively....see what all comes out. Shamai and Hillel's argument over what was reasonable grounds for divorcing your wife. What were the regulations for a put away wife? How about a fully divorced wife? Common Ketubah clauses?

PLEASE do not take my word for anything....look up vetted resources and find out for yourself. And if you need instruction on how to vet resources then google/Gemini or Grok or Claude can assist.

Or

Was you expecting the usual sock puppet troll answer of me insulting your integrity and demanding you take everything I say as absolute truth or your salvation is highly suspect....I've seen enough of those to fake it when necessary.

I will concede that you are much better than the responders, you have actually done some research. I rather suspect that you cited two individuals that most in this forum would not recognize, two ancient Pharisaic teachers I might add.

What I look at is similar, ancient history that even in seminaries is often dismissed as "not relevant". But when I look at it and relate it to portions of the NT, the same seminary profs get amazed at how I can easily resolve issues in the NT they taught as unsolvable.

But I trust that you are aware that the status of women varied greatly based on geographic location and local customs in the ancient world. Most women were second class, or maybe third class as non-Romans in general were second class, in Judea, yet just a few miles east, in Nabataea (also part of the Roman Empire), they were the full equals of any man.

Now I freely admit that much of what I have learned is unsettling, it contradicts much of what I was comfortable with for roughly 50 years of my Christian life, but it fits the available date better than what I was being spoon fed by pastors and the books one typically finds in Christian bookstores by supposed experts. Now I present fragments of my work to those who teach the writers of popular Christian works and amaze the teachers who ask reasonable questions about how I plan to proceed, which I can answer in part as I continue my research to ensure that what I argue for is well supported.

But I use AI sources only when I cannot remember a specific source, and at least half the time they have trouble finding it or default to traditional answers that I can already counter.

It could have been such a detestable practice as you suggest, or just someone committing adultery as we see in the Bible. I'm sure a plethora of social situations existed then as they do today. The existence of something doesn't eliminate the existence of anything else....

Anyway.... Back to the topic of the thread.... It's a fascinating topic!

Says the blind man.

Yes, because you can't identify who God the Father is, then you are considered as a blind man to God.
That is why even it is clearly written and you are reading it repeatedly, you don't understand it.
MATTHEW 13:10-11, 13-16
10 And the disciples came, and said unto him, Why speakest thou unto them in parables?
11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
13 Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.
14 And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
15 For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
16 But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.

Yes, because you can't identify who God the Father is,
Prove it with evidence from my words. Quoting Scripture will not do. Your own comments and opinions will not do.

Provide actual evidence: quotations of my posts proving that I can't identify who God the Father is.

The infamous passage where God says "I hate divorce".....the context is that He hated the practice of putting away more and the bloodshed/deaths it resulted in. (Fewer people living in the area at that time) And that God hates abuse more is also heavily suggested in the flowery language.

Now what would be the odds of a prophet going off on individual sins like how we treat each other and yet when Jesus comes He never addresses the results of this practice of Putting Away in a "in person " fashion?

The pithiness, irony, and coincidence is just too much? Uhhhhhh. Hhhhuuuh.

It is you who failed the test.

But you said you passed it.
Therefore it is you who should provide evidence that you passed the test.

Who is the One True God sitting in a Throne?
REVELATION 4:2
2 And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.

This is my proof. You can't identify him.

Fallacy: burden of proof reversal. You made the accusation; you provide the evidence.

As I said, it may have been that but it still remains an assumption. It could be exactly as the Bible said. Jesus wasn't one to avoid calling out the pharasees after all but he didn't here when presented with the chance to lay the blame at their feet.

Still.... Back to the topic

I will say it again.
I'm not accusing you.
The Lord Jesus gave a test for those people who are preaching the words of God if they come from God or not (1 JOHN 4:2-3).
And you failed the test.

You said you’re capable. Why can’t you answer a simple question.

Question:
Who is the President of United States of America.
Answer:
Donald Trump.

Who is the President of Russia?
Answer:
Vladimir Putin.

Who is God the Father?
Answer:

Without you realizing it, you are breaking the Lord’s command. Breaking this law is an evil thing.
MATTHEW 5:37
37 But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

But there is a huge difference between asking who the presidents of the USA and Russia are, and asking who God the Father is, The answers to the president questions is found by picking the correct names of the two people concerned. Are you expecting people here to answer with a name for God the Father, such as Yahweh or Jehovah? Or are you expecting a description of Who He is, perhaps something along the lines of what He says of Himself:

(Isa 46:9) Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me,
(Isa 46:10) Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, 'My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,'
(Isa 46:11) Calling a bird of prey from the east, The man who executes My counsel, from a far country. Indeed I have spoken it; I will also bring it to pass. I have purposed it; I will also do it.

You mention 1 John 4:2-3. Those verses talk of the Spirit of God, of Jesus Christ coming in the flesh, but, as far as I can see, they don't provide an answer to the question I have seen you ask over and over again on Christian Chat, "Who is God the Father?"

(1Jn 4:2) By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God,
(1Jn 4:3) and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world.

In closing, I would like to ask what your answer would be to the question, "Who is God the Father?"

He rejects the test given in 1 Corinthians 12:1-3 and has substituted a test he made up from a section of narrative. I challenged him on his rationale, and since then he has accused me of not knowing who God the Father is, and dismissed everything I say.

Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us a great warning about False Christ & Prophets

MATTHEW 24:23-24
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Jesus will descend from heaven with all the past generations of His saints, His glory as lightning, radiating across the skies from the east to the west, and with a shout He will raise the dead saints who will ascend in view of those who remain behind. Any Chrost who arrives without this glory and immediately initiating the first resurrection, must be a false Christ.

In closing, I would like to ask what your answer would be to the question, "Who is God the Father?"

The truth is.
The true prophets’ knowledge of the one true God comes directly from God, not from any human being.
Read these verses carefully.
I hope God will give you an understanding (Proverbs 2:6)

To know the real Jesus, it must be a revelation from God.
MATTHEW 16:15-17
15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

When Jesus is known according to the revelation of the Father, the Father is also known at the same time.
JOHN 8:19
19 Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.
This is the reason why God commanded His chosen to apply the test.
1 JOHN 4:2-3
2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

Because my recognition to Jesus is a revelation from the Father so I know who is the Father. But it doesn' mean I will answer your question "Who is the Father".

Because the Lord Jesus strictly instructed that His chosen ones should not be the ones to present or introduce Him to the people.
MATTHEW 16:20
20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

And so do not ask me Who is the Father.
Instead ask God who is he.

He rejects the test given in 1 Corinthians 12:1-3 and has substituted a test he made up from a section of narrative. I challenged him on his rationale, and since then he has accused me of not knowing who God the Father is, and dismissed everything I say.
The Truth is:
True followers of the Lord Jesus do not seek allies. They are sent by the Lord alone. And they are not afraid because they carry the truth as their weapon.
MARK 5:18-20
18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.

But you are afraid, so you still look for allies.
You yourself are proving that you are not a true follower of the Lord Jesus.

On the other hand, how can truth be your weapon if you are afraid of the truth?
