Thank you!Ohio says Hey and welcome aboard. God bless
I was enjoying my involuntary retirement with the covid closures, yes, all those years ago I had just turned 65 and was laid off work, which was perfect timing because I had also just received a cancer diagnosis, so I went through all my treatments and surgeries with no interruptions to any personal work schedule. Parking at hospitals and clinics etc was made free during that time also! No sooner had I recovered from my final surgery (a hernia repair), than my boss called and asked if I would come back to work. My first thought was, I am retired! Ha. But I did say yes. So now I am working three days a week, six hour days. I have always liked the work I do.Hi Retired, isn't retirement fun. Find an interesting sounding chat in some forum and join in.
I retired earlier than I wanted to due to having to take care of family members and did not keep my professional status largely due to changes in policies where I had been working for 25 years. It had been the best places in the area, but its reputation has gone downhill, and no other location nearby has improved that much. So now I work to resolve a 50-year-old challenge by changing virtually universal assumptions. My only problem now is finishing the project that requires massive reeducation while opponents insist that I have nothing as I cannot express it in a few words. But the task in generally enjoyable and those who have waded through what I have written to date are amazed at the improvement coming.I was enjoying my involuntary retirement with the covid closures, yes, all those years ago I had just turned 65 and was laid off work, which was perfect timing because I had also just received a cancer diagnosis, so I went through all my treatments and surgeries with no interruptions to any personal work schedule. Thank you! I now have 50 years experience in my field, working at three places of employment, and it wasSounds like a balanced work / home schedule.
I am still doing my 4 days a week at our local McDonald's. The extra money does come in handy.
Your boss obviously holds you in high regard by offering the part-time schedule to you.
It definitely helps to like the work that you do. I loved my career job but merely tolerate this gig at McDonald's. If I am going to keep working, even at a part-time basis, it would be nice to earn more money in a new working environment.
I have always admired your work effort. Like they say "Keep up the good work".
I have a fixed schedule - work Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Off Wednesday, Thursday, work Friday. Hours are 7am - 3pm. Seems to work for me.Thank you! I now have 50 years experience in my field, working at three places of employment, and it was
the only thing I knew I wanted to do, so I do feel quite blessed, and credit God with my success, even from
the beginning knowing it was a gift from the Spirit of the universe, since I was not a believer in those days.
Do you work many hours a day? Four days is still better than full time. I said yes to coming back to work because
I am not a very active person, which does not mean I do not keep busy or lack purpose in my life. I would tell people
I said yes because I needed a reason to get dressed and walk out my door on a more regular basis, and they would
think I lacked other things. Heh. Nope. The lure of coffee does not even motivate me to get out some of my days off work!
Then I will show up at work and say, I am here for the coffee. LOL. It is the first thing I do when I get here (make coffee).
Are you looking for other work? You sure are correct about the extra finances helping in today's economy. Inflation since
covid has been crazy. I still sometimes wonder how some can afford to eat. Even rent prices have doubled since then.
I think you are one of the most lovable people here also... so no surprises really thatI have a fixed schedule - work Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Off Wednesday, Thursday, work Friday. Hours are 7am - 3pm. Seems to work for me.
For some reason everyone there loves me. It's not a bad situation but still, I am anxious to move on, broaden my horizons. Yeah, inflation hurts a lot but that's the way that it currently is.
Coffee is one of life's simple pleasures.
I feel that working for wages gives me a certain measure of being productive and having a purpose. Perhaps that is true for you too.
God Bless You, my friend.
