It strikes me that over the centuries Christians have been at war with each other about what is in our heads, the center of our mental, emotional and social "reality." Is that all Christianity is? Just a fierce battle about ideas, concepts, beliefs and theories? Is there any concept of Christianity that extends below our chins?

Some do.

I mostly ignore it. So do most of the people I call friends. There is so much more to being a christian, and we don't have time to waste on that junk.

What about the people who do argue a lot about this kind of thing? We leave them alone. They will find other people to argue with. They don't need us.

Philippians 3 verse 3; Colossians 2 verse 11; Romans 2 verse 29b ~ For it is we who are the circumcision, we who worship by the Spirit of God, who glory in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh. You were also circumcised, in the putting off of your sinful nature, with the circumcision performed by Christ and not by human hands. Circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code.

I believe that God loves us and gave His Son to offer salvation in this life and the next. I believe that a change of heart, mind and soul will be evident in the post salvation life, the totality of ones life, not the totality of one's theology or good thoughts and best wishes to the rest of the world. If salvation does not result in a changed life, a new life of commitment, sacrifice and love for everyone, then it is just the purification of your theology of choice - one that frees you from all earthly care. We baptise and say, "buried with Christ into His death and raised to walk a new life." But, I have yet to see any concerted effort to define what the newness of life is other than that you believe more deeply that your soul is saved.... leaving your life untouched, unchanged and unredeemed. Not to worry, it all about your soul anyway.

Here are the "spiritual realities" I believe.
1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a ringing gong or a clanging cymbal. 2If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have absolute faith so as to move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3If I give all I possess to the poor and exult in the surrender of my body,a but have not love, I gain nothing.

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no account of wrongs. 6Love takes no pleasure in evil, but rejoices in the truth. 7It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be restrained; where there is knowledge, it will be dismissed. 9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when the perfect comes, the partial passes away.

11When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I set aside childish ways. 12Now we see but a dim reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.

13And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, and self-control.

Do you actually know people who are freed from all earthly care?

Sorry, metaphors and similes have never been my strong suite. Referring to one's heart as if it is the seat of a deep and more profound emotional and spiritual truth than our minds, just leaves me trying to figure out a metaphorical response. I failed. If there is a physical reality separate from our emotional or spiritual reality, I just don't know what it is. Help.

Reality is the mind of Christ.

I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me.
John 14:6

The Bible is God's perfect, holy Word and applies to our physical health, our soul and body. This makes up the entire person. Since it was He Who made us, it is in our best interests to learn what He has told us in writing.
At death, the entirety of the man or woman goes either directly to Heaven or Hell. God wants us to know how to get there.

 
Nobody if free of care. The only care we have is by definition"earthly." If we say we care that we have a "spiritual" care that the hungry are fed but show no effort to feed them, then we don't have a spiritual or earthly care.

Can you suggest a "spiritual care" that is not an earthly care?

Yeah it's all around family friends people we got to the know it all syndrome or instant masters of a subject instead of being fearful of not knowing they change the subject but yeah lots of arguments time wasters and people speak partial truths with mixed lies and and actually believe it's truth because they said it

No. Ideas, concepts, beliefs and theories are only a small part; but unfortunately they have become the most important part for many people. The most important parts are faith, hope and love; and loving our neighbors.

Hearing our Savior, and heeding His Word, we should all be children of Abraham, with the faith of Abraham. There really are no denominations recognized by Him other than this simple status in His sight.
