Exactly. God given personalities. We're tainted, but when we become new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17) , the old man is put off: the old life with its past sins and our old artificial, carnal characteristics.

Try to understand me. I think your confusing a style(created by secular culture) with personality. Someone can be a mopey person, but being "emo" is a style, a genre. You can be mean, but being a "gangsta" is a style, a genre -Carnal products of a sinful culture, most of them.

I'm simply saying that: are you a listening to rock (or whatever) because you are in love with the elements of the world it so definitely is attached to? screamo -punk/emo - "style created by secular culture"

Its just a question. If the answer is no. Then fine. Listen till your ears fall off, its fine with me. And if your conscious is ok with it then I guess I have no right to say boo. Because like you said, the scripture isn't so clear about it.
Ok, name a style of music that didn't originate in secular roots. Many of the old hymns were bar songs with the words changed to have a spiritual message. What about people into sports? Sports is rooted in the secular, is it wrong for someone to be an athlete? Because there is an 'athlete culture' as well. Pretty much everything is going to be rooted in some secular culture. That's part of being 'in the world'. You can't completely escape the influence of secular culture. So sports, all art, all music, business, construction, anything, you name it, and it has secular roots, and a form of culture tied to it. That doesn't make it wrong to be an athlete, or artist, musician, businessman, or anything else. Old man is about sinful nature, not having a tendency towards certain types of culture.

The fact that you would require THIS, makes the following statement absolutely horrifying.

But then I see this-

And wonder why I'm still talking to you about anything.
there is no place in the bible where it talks about hardcore music, or what kind of music we need to listen to! NOWHERE! And so? Age DON'T matter, who god calls, he calls.

hmm, you guys bother yourself a lot about all these irrelevant things. What is hardcore or screamo or metal or whatever???? In Africa, we don't care about all these things..lol :D .. Where are those ones in the bible now?.. Instead of us to face the real thing,we are busy arguing about the Sound or whatever.. bla bla bla..

Plz listen to any song that glorifies God, Period!!.. Is it that difficult to understand?

style? So if someone dresses 'emo' that automatically means their trying to be emo? no. some people say I dress emo-ish, but so what? That's not a sin. Don't be stereotype.
Did I say I would be the one to determine what your attempting to do with your wardrobe??? NO...I said you need to ask yourself. You know why your dressing the way you do, And God knows.

I never said it was the music that saves >.> I said at-least their hearing the word of God.. yeh there are fake Christian bands, but there are also fake gospel singers, etc. Like I said before, shut up, you can't even give me half a verse about hardcore music :)
shut up is rude. behave.

Ah yes, because the way you choose to play an instrument has anything to do with spirituality.

Also, people have personalities, God given personalities. I don't think Gods intent is for us to lose our personalities in our relationship with Him. He doesn't want robots who lose all sense of identity.

There is no scripture whatsoever that can be used to prove any form or style of music is in any way bad by its nature. Period. End of story. Stop trying to put God in a box and applying your preferences as to whats right and wrong as His. You have no validity in your argument.
Thanks, Ugly :) I am a worship leader who plays keyboards and drums. I bought an electric guitar a few weeks ago and am learning to play it. Some folks will probably say I'm possessed by that time. :)

This all makes me think of David's wife mocking the way he danced and celebrated before the Lord. We know how that turned out. We need to be very careful when we criticize how folks praise.

You basically just reiterated your last post.
So allow me to reiterated: Im just saying there's some who do and some who dont. If you dont, congradulations, but your not the only christian in the world. Your reason for dressing the way you do are not the same as all the sreamo christians' (or whatever you call them)..and how did this transform into an argument about clothes???

I think that no style of music is inherently worldly or Christian. For that matter, even a band of atheists can write a song that is beautiful and true, because even they were created in God's image, though they deny it. I've heard good songs by bands that were otherwise terrible, songs that I think are beautiful and pleasing to God, in themselves. Sometimes it's surprised me to learn what the rest of a band's songs were like, after hearing one beautiful song. Honestly, I would rather listen to a good song by a nonChristian band than a bad song by a Christian band. I also think that Christians should be held to higher standards of artistry than nonChristians -- no matter what genre or style of music they make -- because they know and try to glorify God.

I admire bands and musicians who can witness to everyone because they do not straitjacket themselves with the 'Christian' label, because they don't feel obligated to mention God explicitly in every song. Many bands have made this world better because they were brave and freed themselves to speak to everyone. I am a Christian, but much of my poetry and music does not mention God explicitly, but I consider it Christian because it speaks about reality truthfully and in a way that (I hope) is beautiful.

yeah you see...theres a difference between saying shut up and telling someone to be quiet(the same diff between telling someone that he looks like an a***** or to simply say he looks dumb), i can't imagine myself telling my mom to shut up , she would slap me haha :) and also what Jullianna said, we are supposed to be known for our love to each other, if we cant respect other christians, what image are we giving to the world? anyway, i was just pointing out that it does sound rude, not trying to start an argument or something .
God bless you
