Why only 600? It’s been over 2000 yrs since Jesus (God the Son) walked in the flesh.Seems to me this question has been around for 600 yrs. I am interested in how we the answer now.
How do you think God related to the Göbekli Tempe civilization of 12,000 years ago or the Jericho civilization of 9,000 yrs ago?IF salvation i.e eternal life, was instantaneous and permanent, with no time or period of testing to see if the person would never turn away from God's One righteous Way, disaster would be certain.
Man already has a 6000 year history of turning away, even now in 2026, World War Three is close.
Just read Revelation chapters 2 and 3 describing seven Churches of God, not a pretty picture.
God is ready to cast some out if they will not repent of sin.

So, exactly what does this continuing "saving faith that endures consist of?" A mental process? or the events of a changed life?Salvation occurs at the instant of repentance/conversion = faith in Jesus as Messiah and Lord (Rom. 10:9),
and it continues as long as such saving faith endures (Matt. 10:22).

You trust absolutely no one, but God trusted you to 'get it right'?It comes down to who do I trust, man or God.
I have 86 years of experiences with man.
There is not a chance in hell, as the saying goes - that I would trust men or women for that matter.
I have had almost 60 years with my Father and His Son, They can be trusted.
As far as before the last 6000 I have no clue and do not care, I know who is in charge.

In Titus 2:11-13, the content of our gift of salvation is described as being trained by grace to do what is godly, righteous, and good, and to renounce doing what is ungodly, so if someone rejects the content of their gift of salvation by doing what is ungodly and by renouncing doing what is godly, righteous, and good, then they can't accurately be considered to have the content of their gift of salvation.Seems to me this question has been around for 600 yrs. Salvation is returning to cooperation with God’s order in His universe. It is instantaneous upon faith in God and Jesus Christ as our Lord. It fades in and out as we fade in and out of faith in God and Jesus Christ as our Lord. “Salvation" defines a healthy state of being, one that is in tune with God’s rule and order in His universe.Seems to me this question has been around for 600 yrs. Please define "Saving Faith."Salvation occurs at the instant of repentance/conversion = faith in Jesus as Messiah and Lord (Rom. 10:9),
and it continues as long as such saving faith endures (Matt. 10:22).
What happens to our "salvation" if we turn away?Salvation is returning to cooperation with God’s order in His universe. It is instantaneous upon faith in God and Jesus Christ as our Lord. It fades in and out as we fade in and out of faith in God and Jesus Christ as our Lord. “Salvation" defines a healthy state of being, one that is in tune with God’s rule and order in His universe.
Jesus said that only those who endure all forms of persecution, "but remain faithful to the end" will be saved. What does His statement imply about "instantaneous and irreversible?" Paul said it does not matter how much faith you have. If you don't have love, your faith is just noise. How does that play into your theology? Can you have "saving faith" without love? There are three salvations according to God's word. The first is instantaneous and irreversible. It is what is meant by being born again. The born again part of us is the spirit, because that is what died when Adam disobeyed God.
The second salvation is of the soul. This is, according to Peter, the goal of our faith. A goal is something to aim for, not an instant achievement. The salvation of the soul is conditional and is the main subject of the NT.
The last salvation is also instant. Our bodies will be transformed into spiritual bodies.
It is God who causes us to be born again. The bible calls it eternal life. I looked it up in the greek. Eternal means eternal. Surprise, surprise. Eternal means "lasting forever". The life is God's life, "zoe" in Greek. Human life is "psuche". The born again spirit can no more die than God can die.
