Why can’t churches turn down the music

Thank you. There are two kinds of false Christianity (I call it "Christianism") that appeal to different temperaments. There is the intellectual, very much my inclination. It's all about mental knowledge, intensive study, theological institutions and following other intellectual teachers and preachers. The problem is that knowledge by itself puffs up the pride of the believer. Knowledge in the mind fails under stress. I know that all too well.
Another kind is emotional. That has become more popular because it is so much less demanding. Go to a "praise and worship" meeting, hype up the emotion and go home thinking that God must be pleased. Juan Carlos Ortiz put it well. He described it like sending a beautifully wrapped gift box to heaven. God unwraps the gift, only to find that it is empty.
Leadership is too often according to natural temperament and not God's calling. One pastor wanted me to know how hard it was being him. He started off with "In this business..........." Exactly. We are supposed to be family, but too often the church is run like a business.
What the body of Christ needs is to remember that we are spiritual. We are a family, not an organisation to be controlled. Believers need to be fed truth.
A number of fellowships do not even preach the word in their meetings. They've decided to entertain instead. A local Baptist Church describes itself as a worship and performing arts centre. It has also embraced the LGBTQI whatever community and describes itself as a Pride centre. I have another name for it: "Ichabod".

The thinking is that we all gotta get used to loud music cause it's gonna be loud in heaven. I used to be of that opinion, but not anymore.

Do you even know why gays have rainbow as their emblem? Its to do with Judy Garland song Over the Rainbow in the Wizard of OZ. It had nothing to do with homosexuality.
The only connection is that Judy's dad (who died when she was 13) was gay and was actually a paedophile.
Judy was then adopted by MGM and became a child star.
I'm sure people know this if they know some history...before that the emblem would have been a pink flag.

Judy never knew that about her dad, and wouldn't have believed it. She was brought up in the Episcopalian church. Somewhere along the line, she became a gay icon, but then any female singer can be one. Just about any popular female vocalist you can name is a gay icon.
Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin were brought up in church, singing in gospel choirs. What wouldn't you give to hear their voices leading worship and singing hallelujah?

I've heard Aretha Franklin sing in a church meeting but it was a movie. Nothing personal, but she seemed completely out of place.

Loudness is controlled by the sound techs. Great sound techs are hard to find. When my worship team is warming up and adjusting the monitors, one of our techs sometimes has the house mix so loud that it drowns out the stage monitor mix.
I know that they didn’t incorporate the rainbow with the intent of a conscious slap in the face, but long before Judy Garland and the Wizard of Oz, the rainbow was given by God to symbolize his mercy. and therein lies the irony. It is sad that the rainbow has been turned upside down in a sense, and the mercy that it was originally given to represent trampled underfoot, not only by lgbtq++?@ but also by a portion of the people of God, that view them merely as enemies to their way of life and not souls in need of Jesus. I do not condone the lifestyle in any way, but to embarrass and humiliate them and go at them with a vengeance simply pushes them further away from Him. It is hard to know how to love people that are so opposite to you. It’s easy to take the life He has given us for granted.
Was it the Jennifer Hudson movie. She was on Idol. That was not the real Aretha.
There is footage of the real Aretha in church. Singing gospel, or soul. Soul music is an offshoot of gospel. It's personal singing between you and God. Gospel is congregational singing and its rooted in the Bible.
I suppose because a lot of churches in the US are divided by colour still (in the 21st century?!) you won't get much crossover. Love/Praise songs to God are what Hiillsong specialise in and their brand of music now dominates churches.
I don't mind it in small doses, but there's only so much thank you God for being so wonderful that you can sing without repeating yourself. I don't think God requires our flattery. He'd much rather we just follow our Jesus example and love others the way He loves us.
Yes Jesus is a beautiful name and He is our King/Lord/Saviour etc but don't you think He already knows this. Isaiah says your lips praise Him but your heart is far from Him..thats where the term 'lip service' comes from.
I've heard of the term 'tolerance' it was bandied about in the 90s for anyone who was not WASP, as if those in power just put up with anyone not their race and creed/religion. It made out that everyone else was subhuman and seen as pests and nuisances.
Ok if you are actually ARE a sex offender you ought to be locked up in jail, (in olden days you would be stoned) but that's not just homosexuals. It's rapists and anyone who commits acts of indecency.
People who are homosexual or engage in it monogamously and consensual don't see anything wrong or forbidden in that type of lifestyle, and now that it's legal to marry your same sex partner, its recognised as legit - they make the same sorts of vows that heterosexual marriages make, i.e. exclusive love between two people. so that's probably better than the kind of immorality involving many people and non-consensual acts.
And now because of body dysphoria and the amount of hormones in food and estrogen in plastics a lot more 'designer' babies vis IVF it can be confusing the array of ways gender presents itself. For some, its easier to be androgynous and not male or female so you're kind of neutral and dress unisex. Or to be a eunuch, as Jesus said some would never understand why some people choose to stay unmarried and celibate.

In animal kingdom, you can be male or female as originally designed, but actually because of imbalance of sexes, some animals actually can change genders, or they can be both - and plants can actually be self pollinating or cloned and animals can be artificially inseminated as anyone who's done breeding or lived on a stud farm can observe.

A recording of one of her songs were played during my first wedding years ago. The kid that ran the recorder screwed up the song that was intended and played - "We can't go on hurting each other'." Bad omen. Marriage was a total farce and disaster. I made a horrible choice and paid the price for years to come. 6 1/2 years of physical, verbal, and emotional abuse and mental anguish.
I think most people would prefer to be straight and have a forever faithful one partner marriage, with children and eventually grandchildren, and nobody ever sinning but often life doesn't turn out that way.
