Some thoughts on the Sabbath...

I can't say that wasn't possible. Personally, I regard 1Pet 3:20 as describing how Noah, and his wife and their sons and their sons wives, heard God's word, by the Holy Spirit. It can only be assumed that they heard Him from within themselves, at least in that mention (but it's in the NT). However, deep calls to deep, and Spirit to spirit, as far as I can see it. I will make sure to take note of the first instance I encounter any explicit mention of the Holy Spirit indwelling a person in the OT. I'd never thought of that project before now.

When Elijah felt like the only one, God told him there were 7000 that He knew chosen similarly as their counterparts in the time of Paul (Rom 11:4-5), chosen (implied by language in both Hevrew and Greek that is reflective of being 'left behind,' incidentally, but that's another subject) by "all whose knees have not bowed to Baal and whose mouths have not kissed him (1Ki 19:18)."

Just one comment; Without the Holy Spirit in a person there is no Life (eternal) in them.
If Abraham, David and the Prophets etc. did not have the Spirit, they will not be in the First Resurrection.
we are not told how many God put His spirit in, in those days, but my guess it was a small number.

There is a passage in Psalm 95 that says if we do not know God’s ways, we will not enter His rest. I have been studying the sabbath and trying to understand what God really says. For your amusement and consideration, I submit the following thoughts.

Genesis 2:3
God then blessed the seventh day and set it apart because he had finished creation

The first thing God did on the seventh day, after creation was completed, was to make the day “Holy.” The entire day, not just part. He set one full day aside from all others for His use and pleasure. That use and pleasure was for our benefit; an opportunity to refresh.

Exodus 20:8-11
The first commandment concerning the Sabbath is to remember it forever…

Next God commanded His people to remember His special set-apart day forever. (Not sure we have done so well with that.) The sabbath is a reminder of His everlasting covenant. An acknowledgement that following a short period of struggles and difficulties, He will bring us all into an everlasting sabbath with Him.

Exodus 20:10
…but the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work,

He then commanded His people to do no work. This has been abused and miss-understood for centuries, but His intent is clear. We are to rely on Him. (Picking up sticks does not necessarily violate the sabbath, but More on this later) We can trust God for our provision or we can rely on our own effort, but we cannot do both. For one full day out of seven, God asks our reliance be totally on Him, not on ourselves. The Bible says God will provide for the sabbath, all we need do is make the preparations.

So, what do we do? Yeshua showed us! Prayer, doing good works, reading scripture, hearing, and preaching the word, singing, fasting, healing, making oaths and vows to God, offering thanksgivings, yet always glorifying His Holy Name. There is tremendous power in the sabbath.

One problem I did encounter in my study; the stony execution of a man for collecting sticks on the sabbath. (Numbers 15:32-36) This appeared cruel and set me back.

After a little more study the context then became clear, the execution had absolutely nothing to do with breaking sabbath rules. The context is a discussion of unintentional and intentional sin. The issue is blasphemy; the deliberate, insulting, contemptuous and willful lack of reverence for God. This man stood at the foot of the mountain and heard God’s own voice proclaiming his commandments. In his arrogance he then proceeded to publicly challenged God. Not a good idea.

There is no judgement here on how or when anyone chooses to keep sabbath, only the encouragement for thoughts and prayers on the subject.

God is ONE, one way, one doctrine, one door, one body

Paul, who can be easily misunderstood, can be mis-understood to teach two ways to life.
Who do you believe, Jesus Christ or a person that can be and is easily misunderstood?

How do you see this: 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Gentiles grafted into the olive tree does not mean grafted into the old covenant of law. The new covenant is not the old covenant repackaged. (2 Corinthians 3:6-9) Hebrews 8:13 - A new covenant, He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

The old covenant between God and Israel is obsolete.

Hebrews 8:13
When He said, a new covenant, He has made the first obsolete. But whatever is becoming obsolete and growing old

These two questions are important questions.

I do not see "obsolete": declared old, vanishing, yes. It requires both parties to declare a contract/covenant null and void. unless there was a clause stating God could on His own, void the contract, He can not and there is no clause for that.

Without the Physical (old) Covenant being enforce, there can be no "Time of the End", no physical punishment for the sins of the physical 12 tribes.

Lev 26: 27 - 39 is the 7 year Time of the End punishment for all 12 tribes allowed by the terms of the contract the Children agreed to. If the covenant was voided God would have no legal basis for punishment.

The time of the end is 7 years long as per the contract/covenant. the 7 years are divided in half, the first half of 3 1/2 years Christ calls "the Beginning of Sorrows", the last 3 1/2 (1260 days) are Seals 5, 6 and 7.

The Old Covenant is still enforce for the 12 physical tribes, again how else can the Time of Jacob's trouble come on the 12 Tribes.
And yes I believe the Nations of the House of Israel and the nation of the House of Judah exist to day. the 12 Hebrew tribes.

the Old Covenant was between God and the 12 tribes,
the Torah will be the Law by which Christ will judge/rule the entire earth when returns.

What The Many do not seem to know, there will be a 2nd Exodus by which the 12 Tribes, physical Hebrew humans, come out of captivity at the return of Christ and make their way back to Jerusalem to finally inherit the Promise Land.

Jeremiah 16: 14 - 15

14 Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, ----that it shall - --- no more be said, ---The LORD liveth, ---- --- that brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt;

15 But, -- The LORD liveth, -------that brought up the children of Israel from the land of the north, and from all the lands whither He had driven them: --------and I will bring them ---“again”--- into their land that I gave unto their fathers.

Notice, Jeremiah does not use the word "Jew" -- children of Israel i.e. all 12 tribes

this may be the first time you have heard of the 2nd Exodus, it proves the 12 Tribes still exist and the Old Covenant is still enforce.

Just one comment; Without the Holy Spirit in a person there is no Life (eternal) in them.
If Abraham, David and the Prophets etc. did not have the Spirit, they will not be in the First Resurrection.
we are not told how many God put His spirit in, in those days, but my guess it was a small number.
