the grace of God!
after we receive the initial grace of justification it is not eternal salvation but we are in a state of grace, we must grow in grace 2 pet 3:18
Jn 15:1-6
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

Aren't you saved?
Humility is being correctable and teachable.
So your hermeneutics equate every statement. One is a metaphor germain to those living at the time. The message is those who are unprepared for God's required behavior by their self-serving non-compliance are left out. Those who thought they were safe in their laziness Jesus statement was they will be left out. You not living in compliance with the goals of the wedding, you are out.
His statement about the sheep and goats is an expansion. It is a revelation on the criteria by which all will be judged. There is no language capable of describing judgement other than the language familiar to those listening. Again, those who expect salvation by any other means than being faithful....not just claiming belief...but actually deploying their faith in service to those Jesus came to save will be saved. Just claiming a "mental assent" or "momentary salvation" as salvation is destroyed in these two example from Jesus. We claim ....Just believe and be saved. Jesus in two lengthy examples demonstrates if your faith claim is just that, just a claim, then God has a place prepared for you. God through Jesus came to find servants not dogma believers.

I don’t remember seeing anywhere in scripture where anyone is declared at any time irrevocably eternally lost. Maybe I missed it.

Can a Christian Lose His Salvation?
Matthew 7: 13 & 14 - “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
1 Corinthians 3: 10 to 15 – “According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it. For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each man’s work will become evident; for the day will show it because it is to be revealed with fire, and the fire itself will test the quality of each man’s work. If any man’s work which he has built on it remains, he will receive a reward. If any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.”
1 Corinthians 5:4 & 5 - “In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and I with you in spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus, I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.”
God’s Word can seem to be confusing. There are many references that appear to state categorically that a born again Christian cannot lose his salvation. Others seem to make it clear that it is not at all certain until the final judgement.
Jesus said, “You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.” (Matthew 10:22).
Yet He also said, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.”
There are a number of reasons for this apparent contradiction. First and foremost is the misunderstanding of what “salvation” means. It means far more than being forgiven, much more than going to heaven when you die. The word “save” can also mean “deliver”. It is clear from the word of God that we are saved from the penalty of sin. That is the eternal position of those who have accepted Christ as Saviour, accepted His death on the cross for their own sin and believe that He rose again from the dead.
It is also clear from the Bible that we are freed from the power of sin. When Jesus died, so did all who accept Him as Saviour and Lord. The principle of sin and death within us is replaced by the Law of the Spirit of Life (Romans 8:2). It is also clear from the Bible and from our own experience that we are still well able to sin. Again an apparent contradiction appears, this time in John’s first letter.
“We know that no one who is born of God sins; but He who was born of God keeps him, and the evil one does not touch him.” (1 John 5:18)
“If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us.” 1 John 1:8
On the one hand, Christians are those who are born again. There is a new spirit man in every believer that of God and does not sin. However, there is also another part of man, the natural life in the soul, which is well able to operate independently of God and therefore is unacceptable to God. This is what Paul means by works that can be “burned up”. What originates from man is by nature only temporal. It may look good outwardly but God looks at the source, not the work.
Jesus did not say to Nicodemus that you must obey God perfectly. He did not say that Nicodemus must do anything at all apart from believe. Lord Jesus said that Nicodemus must be born again. And so must everyone who wants to enter the Kingdom of God.
There is an outworking of the born again experience. It is called the "salvation of the soul". Once a person is born again, he has eternal life. What he does with his eternal life counts towards eternal rewards. Some carry the cross and deny themselves. Others hang on to their independent self life and only grow a little. Their reward in heaven is also small. Others are diligent and turn away from self. Whatever they give up in this life, God will reward them in the next with vastly better blessings.
