You did not answer my question. The question was why did God ask Job that question.
Yes, I did answer this question in Post #403. Did you read it? You can look it up yourself, but here it is *again* for you.
"Because the accuser of the brethren, Elihu, a puppet of satan, was trying to beat that idea into Job's head. To clear the record, God asks Job about it. Notice God does not accuse Job like Elihu does. Job's answer to God is effectively "no". So, no, Job does not condemn God, even when he was given the opportunity to "curse God to His face" as previously predicted in chapters 1 & 2 by the liar satan."
In searching for my response, it was interesting how many times I had to ask you about James and how it comports with your overall interpretation of Job. Huh. Isn’t that interesting? If I missed your response, can you please point to which post where you did respond?
But even if you can’t find the post, why not just answer it here, like I have done for you? I’ll provide the question for you once again.
Ready?
What is your response to the actual written words of James in his letter to his brethren, and why does James hold up Job as an example to fellow believers? James is not commending Job about whether or not Job blesses God. So what is he commending Job for? What does it say? And why would James commend Job in this way?
And how does your whole interpretation of Job’s story comport with the words of James and his view of Job’s story?
What say you??
