I was joking, and my resistance to abortion mostly consists of not getting females pregnant. Absent Christ, I am an anarchist by nature and could not care less about abortion, although I do admire the female ability to murder their offspring on demand with zero legal consequences. Their problem is with God, not me.

Here is a far more useful and universally accepted definition. TDS is a form of Groupthink.
Groupthink is a psychological phenomenon where the desire for harmony or conformity within a group results in irrational, sub-optimal, or dysfunctional decision-making. Members suppress dissenting viewpoints and avoid conflict to reach a consensus without critically evaluating alternative ideas. [1]
Yale psychologist Irving Janis introduced the term in 1971 to explain how seemingly intelligent groups of people can make disastrous choices when trapped in a consensus-seeking mentality. [1, 2]
Key Characteristics & Symptoms
Janis identified eight primary warning signs that a group is falling into groupthink: [1]
- Illusions of Invulnerability: Creating excessive optimism and encouraging extreme risk-taking.
- Collective Rationalization: Discounting warnings or negative feedback that might challenge the group's assumptions.
- Belief in Inherent Morality: Ignoring the ethical or moral consequences of decisions.
- Stereotyped Views of Out-groups: Viewing rivals or dissenting individuals as too evil, weak, or stupid to negotiate with.
- Direct Pressure on Dissenters: Coercing members who express strong arguments against the group's consensus.
- Self-Censorship: Withholding personal doubts or counter-arguments to avoid standing out or disrupting harmony.
- Illusions of Unanimity: Assuming that silence implies consent, leading to a false perception that everyone agrees.
- Self-Appointed "Mindguards": Members who take it upon themselves to protect the leader or the group from problematic information that contradicts their plans.
Group think includes "personality cult" it is all inclusive. So just as you have some MAGA that may be so extreme as to be a personality cult, the opposite of that is TDS where you have people equally rabid about being against Trump, it is the photo negative of the personality cult extreme. We don't need a different designation for David Koresh, Charles Manson, or Jim Jones, they are all personality cults, and fall under the big umbrella of Groupthink.
