The OP confused them by citing Matt. 24:23: "Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible,
they shall deceive the very elect." The false teaching was "here is Christ".
Unfortunately, the OP is very confused on matters of Scripture. That he is confused on this issue is no surprise.

Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us a great warning about False Christ & Prophets

MATTHEW 24:23-24
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
A false prophet is one who predicts what doesn't occur. A false Christ is anyone who claims to be Messiah, other than Jesus himself.

Who is He? Op outer people

OP refers to the original post that begins the topic of the thread, which was:

{{Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us a great warning about False Christ & Prophets

People are confused who do not realize that the OT often uses "and" to mean = or /.
IOW, "Christs" and "prophets" are different nuances of the same function/role,
and "signs" and "wonders" essentially = "miracles".
IOW, "and" may imply "both-and" (harmonization) rather than "either-or" (division = contradiction) logic.

Is there anyone who can identify who is speaking like the dragon? Because the Devil resembles the Lord Jesus and he has power.
REVELATION 13:11
11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

How can people recognize him if he appears like an angel, and how can his followers also be recognized if what they do appears good in the sight of people
2 CORINTHIANS 11:14-15
14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

In the time of the Lord Jesus in the New Testament, who were those who appeared like angels and did good to the Jews, yet spoke with the voice of the Dragon?

FALSE PROPHETS:
Regarding fasting, false prophets who rely on their own reasoning to interpret the word of God take it in a literal sense. That is why they teach that when fasting, one must not eat literal food such as rice, hamburgers, steak, fruits, vegetables, and meat. This is also the devil’s clear understanding of fasting. When the devil learned that the Lord Jesus fasted (in His role as the Son of the Living God) and did not eat for 40 days and 40 nights, it was clear to him that the Lord was hungry. That is why he tempted the Lord Jesus, telling Him to turn the stones there into bread so that He could eat.
MATTHEW 4:2-3
2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Because of the hardness of people’s hearts, fasting is being practiced in imitation of what the Lord did in His role as the Son of the Living God, yet it follows the same understanding as the devil’s.
How can a human being go without eating for 40 days and 40 nights?
Perhaps there are doctors reading this, can a person truly not eat for 40 days and 40 nights without anything harmful happening to them?

My understanding is that i Jewish tradition the number 40 can represent a time of testing (cf. Gen 7:4&17, Exo. 16:35, 24:18, Num. 14:34, Deut. 1:3, 1Sam. 4:18, 2Sam. 5:4, 1Kings 19:8, Ezek. 29:12, Jon. 3:4) and thus may not be meant literally.

WARNING ! Any One! ... thinking to acquire truthful scriptural understanding from people like @Dino246 & @GWH, et.al. should "test their spirits" first, as to which of the two spirits in the world, God's Holy Spirit, OR Satan's anti-Christ spirit, ... WHO are these people representing ? Who are the False Prophets ?

Testing the spirits is a vital necessity, especially in these end times, paralleling the days of Noah. Because Satan works through deception and false prophets, God has provided clear, infallible Biblical tests to determine whether a spirit or a prophet is truly from Him.

Here are the primary Biblical tests to "test the spirits":

1. Harmony with the Word of God (Isaiah 8:20)

  • "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." (Isaiah 8:20, KJV)
  • The Law: A true prophet or spirit from God will strictly uphold the Ten Commandments. If a prophet teaches that God's law is abolished, or if they encourage breaking any of the commandments, ( including the Fourth Commandment, the seventh-day Sabbath), they fail this test.
  • The Testimony: They must agree with the testimony of Scripture. Ellen White consistently taught that the Bible is the supreme standard of faith. She referred to her own prophetic ministry as a "lesser light" given by God to lead men and women to the "greater light" (the Bible). Any spirit introducing doctrines contrary to the KJV Bible is a false spirit.
2. Confessing Jesus Christ (1 John 4:1-3)
  • "Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God."
  • 1 John 4:2, KJV and Gal 2:20 KJV
  • A true prophet will exalt Jesus Christ as the only Savior. They will teach the truth about His incarnation—that He took upon Himself fallen human nature yet lived a sinless life. Furthermore, they will point to Christ's righteousness (just as Noah did) and His current high priestly ministry in the heavenly sanctuary. False spirits often diminish Christ, elevate human leaders, or provide alternative paths to salvation. eg. by Grace alone, without obedience to God = Rebellion = The way of Satan.
3. The Fruit of Their Lives and Teachings (Matthew 7:15-20)
  • "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits." (Matthew 7:15-16, KJV) ( fruits = their spirit, Holy, or "rebellious to God )
  • Ellen White and the pioneers taught that we must examine the results of a prophet's ministry. Does their teaching lead people to deeper repentance, humility, and obedience to God? Or does it lead to pride, worldliness, fanaticism, and sin? A true prophet's life will reflect the character of Christ, while a false prophet will eventually manifest the fruits of the flesh. = Disobedience to God = SIN
4. Reproving Sin vs. Speaking Smooth Things
  • Throughout the Bible, true prophets were rarely popular because they were tasked with calling out sin and demanding repentance (e.g., Noah, Elijah, Jeremiah, John the Baptist, present day Ellen White, with the same message of "Obedience to God" contrary to modern false prophets teaching against God's Commandments = SIN )
  • False prophets, however, offer cheap grace. They speak "smooth things" and prophesy "deceits" (Isaiah 30:10, KJV). They tell a rebellious world that they are saved in their sins, crying "Peace, peace; when there is no peace" (Jeremiah 8:11, KJV). A true spirit from God will boldly reprove sin and call for a return to holiness.
5. Fulfillment of Prophecy (Deuteronomy 18:22)
  • "When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously..." (Deuteronomy 18:22, KJV)
  • If someone claims to have the spirit of prophecy and makes specific predictions in the name of the Lord, those events must come to pass (taking into account biblical conditional prophecies, such as Jonah's warning to Nineveh). God is omniscient, and His true messengers do not make false predictions.
Summary Conclusion; Ellen White warned that in the final days, Satan would perform miracles and even appear as an angel of light to deceive, "if it were possible, the very elect" (Matthew 24:24, KJV). Therefore, Adventist pioneers firmly established that we cannot rely on feelings, signs, or miracles to test a spirit. Miracles can be counterfeited by demonic forces (Revelation 16:14).

The only safe safeguard is the Word of God. When a spirit or prophet arises, their message must be laid alongside the KJV Bible. If they do not point to the righteousness of Christ, His Obedience to the Father, if they do not lead to keeping the commandments of God, and if they contradict "the law and the testimony," they must be rejected as false.

Since you called me out personally, I will respond personally.

Item 1: If you think I have spoken in contradiction to the word of God, quote me. Generic accusations are empty codswollop. Ellen White is a false prophet, and it is rather hilarious that you quote her in a rant upholding sound biblical prophetic ministry.

Item 2: Jesus is Lord.

Item 3: If you think the fruit I produce is inconsistent with the fruit of the Spirit, quote me.

Item 4: I often reprove sin on this forum and in real life.

Item 5: I don't claim to make prophetic claims.

You have absolutely no evidence that even implicates me in this matter. You are a false accuser.

There are multiple accounts of people fasting in the Bible, and it involves them not eating. It can be because they want something, like David fasting for his son, for example. It can an act of drawing closer to God, like Moses as another example. Either way, I see no reason to assume they ate during their literal fasting.

It's very dangerous to go 40 days fasting and would be fatal in most situations, but It is phisically possible and anything is possible with God.

That is excellent advice for participants on CC, so thanks for posting it. "Testing the spirits" (1Thes. 5:21) is the starting point of my hermeneutic also. And yes, the choice is binary: "God's Holy Spirit, OR Satan's anti-Christ spirit". I agree that the test consists of comparing what people say with Biblical texts.

However, instead of Isa. 8:20, I prefer the following
as key points from which to triangulate or use to guide interpretation of the Scripture, especially problematic statements:

First, God loves and wants to save everyone. Scriptures teaching divine omnilove include: John 3:16, 1John 4:7-12, Rom. 5:8, Matt. 5:44&48, Gal. 5:6&14, Eph. 3:17b-19, Eph. 5:2 and 1Tim. 2:3-4. Christ died to show God’s love and the possible salvation of all including His enemies, the ungodly, atheist, and anti-Christ (Rom. 5:6-8).

Second, God is just (2Thes. 1:6a, cf. Rom. 3:25-26 & 9:14, Deut. 32:4, Psa. 36:6, Luke 11:42, Rev. 15:3). Explanations of God’s Word should not impugn God’s justice and love for all people (Joel 2:13, John 3:16). This parameter is affirmed in the OT (Psa. 145:17): “The Lord is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.”

Even the wrath of God is an expression of His love and justice. The writer of Hebrews (Heb. 12:4-11) indicates that divine wrath is intended as discipline for the purpose of teaching people to repent of their hatefulness and faithlessness (Pro. 3:12, Isa. 33:14-15 Rev. 3:19). If a righteous explanation cannot be found for a passage of Scripture purporting to describe God’s will (such as Josh. 6:17-24, 8:2&24 & 10:28-40, 11:6-23), then it should be considered as historical or descriptive of what people perceived rather than as pedagogical or prescriptive of God’s nature. Unrighteous rage should not be attributed to God.

Regarding the Ten Commandments, Christians cite the new command of Christ as fulfilling all OT moral commands (John 13:35, Matt. 22:37-40, Gal. 5:6), as John teaches in 1John 4:1-3 & 7-21.

Regarding Christ, I understand His Gospel as including the following:

1. There is a/one all-loving and just Lord or God (Deut. 6:4, John 3:16, 2Thes. 1:6), who is both able (2Tim. 1:12) and willing (1Tim. 2:3-4, Ezek. 33:11) to provide all morally accountable human beings salvation or heaven—a wonderful life full of love, joy and peace forever.
2. Human beings are selfish or sinful (Rom. 3:23, 2Tim. 3:2-4, Col. 3:5), miserable (Gal. 5:19-21), and hopeless (Eph. 2:12) or hell-bound at the judgment (Matt. 23:33 & 25:46) when they reject God’s salvation (John 3:18, Rom. 2:5-11).
3. Jesus is God’s Messiah/Christ and incarnate Son, the way that God has chosen (John 3:16, Acts 16:30-31, Phil. 2:9-11) of providing salvation by means of his atoning death on the cross for the payment of the penalty for the sins of humanity (Rom. 3:22-25 & 5:9-11), followed by his resurrection to reign in heaven (1Cor. 15:14-28).
4. Thus, every person who hears the NT Gospel needs to repent and accept God’s justification in Jesus as Christ/Messiah the Lord or Supreme Commander (Luke 2:11, John 14:6, Acts 16:31), which means trying to obey (Phil. 3:12, 1John 1:8) His commandment to love one another (Matt. 22:37-40, John 13:35, Rom. 13:9)—forever (Matt. 10:22, Psa. 113:2).
5. Then God’s Holy Spirit will establish a saving relationship with those who freely accept Him (Rev. 3:20) that will eventually achieve heaven when by means of persevering in learning Truth/God’s Word/sanctification everyone cooperates fully with His will (John 14:6, 17&26, Rom. 8:6-17, Gal. 6:7-9, Eph. 1:13-14, Heb. 10:36, 12:1, Jam. 1:2-4).

Regarding Ellen White: I have no idea why you esteem her, but I do not disagree with most of what you quoted by her.
I agree that the "only safeguard" for testing the HS is GW, such as the two guiding teachings I cited at the beginning.

Now, I trust in the future you will include @Rob7 in the list of those whose spirit needs to be tested.

He didn't do away with SIN, ( The Law ) just the penalty of sin ... for ALL who confess and repent from their sin ...
YOU & I, EVERYONE have a CHOICE to stop rebelling against God, as Satan would have us, and repent from sinning.

Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty."

OFCOURSE this includes God's Holy Day, created with the rest of the week,
His Seventh Day Sabbath #4 of the 10. ... God's Sign of Authority. Exodus 31:13 and Ezekiel 20:12, 20, rather than Sunday, the anti-Christ's (RCC) ... "Mystery Babylon's" MARK of authority.

You are right GWH, It's ALL about LOVE !! ... The NT Covenant is all about the Law being written on our hearts. Jeremiah 31:33, "I will put my law within them and write it on their hearts." This prophecy is explicitly quoted and applied to the New Covenant in the New Testament in Hebrews 8:10 and Hebrews 10:16.

The Law of Love; = God's Moral Law is defined by God's 10 Commandments.
Love God = 1st - 4 Commandments. Love your neighbors, last 6 Commandments.

Old Testament Foundations
  • Deuteronomy 6:4-5: Commands believers to love the Lord God with all their heart, soul, and strength.
  • Leviticus 19:18: Commands, "Love your neighbor as yourself," which Jesus later cites as the second greatest commandment.
New Testament Teachings
  • Matthew 22:37-40: Jesus declares that loving God and loving one’s neighbor are the two commandments on which "all the Law and the Prophets hang."
  • Romans 13:8-10: States that "love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law," summarizing commandments against adultery, murder, stealing, and coveting.
  • Galatians 5:14: Asserts that "the entire law is fulfilled in a single decree: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
  • John 13:34-35: Jesus gives a "new commandment" to love one another as He has loved them.

My question to you, GHW is how can you NOT understand the Law of LOVE, being God's 10 Commandments?

Dino ! You and I have gone around this block / "matter" multiple times ....
Many words have passed between thee and me ...
I know you to be a man supporting "lawlessness" to our Lord.. eg. as you support, not believing Jesus, when he says, " If you love me, keep my Commandments...

I'm just using you AGAIN, as a prime example of a "false prophet" a "wolf in sheep clothing" that misleading souls AWAY FROM CHRIST, rather than TOWARDS HIM ... A teaching example for the searching souls HERE in these CC forums.

Your accusations are devoid of evidence. You are a false accuser.

Yes, they are/he is. He cites GW and twists it to support belief in salvation via obeying the Law,
which those very Scriptures teach against!

I guess we will need to leave it to unbiased TSers to compare his opinions with what the Bible teaches against Judaizers,
such as those Paul condemns in Gal. 1:6-9, 2:15-16, 3:1-11&23-25, 4:8-11&21-31, 5:1-12.

Is there anyone here who can testify that they have fulfilled the forty days and forty nights of fasting in the same manner that the Lord Jesus fulfilled it in carrying out His role as the Son of the Living God?

Let us not forget the Lord Jesus’ instruction to Simon Peter. As our model, we should follow in His footsteps.
1 PETER 2:21
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

He suffered greatly for following the word of God and not the ways of man. We should try to be as godly as possible, like Christ was. He gave us the example to follow and we are to do our best

Or not, because you don’t understand what it means to follow Jesus’ steps.
