I am a New Zealander, not a New Yorker, but I've been to New York, once.
What part of New York are you from, do you live or work in Manhattan? It sure is an amazing city. When people talk about cities, that is a city of cities. And everyone knows the phrase 'I love New York'. They don't say that about many other cities.

Do you go to Central Park much?
We have a Central Park where I live, but its' nothing like the Central Park of Manhattan.
We do have a lot of parks though. National Parks, City Parks....parking lots...
Yes, been there many times, winter snow ball fights with kids, spring summer flowers, MET museums.... lovely place.

When I lived in Orlando, Florida there were plenty of parking lots.
So there were a lot of parking lots? How many parking lots in one lot?
The main intestate - I 4 is one big, congested parking lot.
In Orlando, during the afternoon and late evening it takes 15 or 20 minutes to cover 1 mile. After living 20 years in the Orlando area I did another 6 years in Clearwater which is part of the Tampa - St. Pete metro area (3.5 million residents). Clearwater was not much better as far as traffic congestion is concerned.
Currently living in a small town in NE Tennessee. The whole town has only 4 traffic lights. My morning and afternoon commutes to and from work take about 5 minutes. In Clearwater it was 45 minutes to an hour.
ha you 'did another 6 years' it sounds like you did time and where you lived was a jail sentence. Were you a prisoner of geography?
I live on a city isthmus on an island so, there's nowhere for me to go really where I won't encounter traffic on the way to work.
One of my full time jobs had to leave the house by 5 to get there at 6 or 7am so could finish earlier at 2pm and avoid the school traffic at 3.
One of my cousins lives in New York, in Manhattan, sort of near Riverside Drive, I think thats in the Financial district. So when went to visit (years ago) I remember my mum and I did all the touristy things, like go up the Empire state building, walk around Broadway, walk the Brooklyn Bridge, walk around Central Park, see the Met, eat at Chinatown, go on the Staten Island Ferry...At the time you couldn't go up the Statue of Liberty but we would have if we could. I also remember the Rockefeller Centre, and seeing lots of museums, eating at a Popeyes and a swanky McD's, and hot dog street stands.
I thought it was an adventure sleeping in an apartment high rise.
So yea. Possibly just your normal everyday things a New Yorker takes for granted, me I'm like how can anyone live in this big crowded city? Where I am from, nobody actually LIVED in the city, you just went there to work and came home to the suburbs.

Clearwater, where I lived, is on a tiny peninsula that juts out into the Gulf of Mexico. Yeah, sorta like a prison sentence as it took a lot of effort to leave Florida. I don't really miss it. Yeah, I like your strategy to avoid traffic snarls.
Can you live IN Central Park?
Like do the homeless put up their tents there?
Where is the exact centre of Manhattan? I mean geographically. There must be some marker or something.
So the 55th street is the exact middle/centre? How may avenues are there? 10? Would Fifth Avenue, 55th street intersection be the midpoint?
I am not sure exactness, but roughly.
