it may be illegal to live in central park but people do. i've seen them come out of cracks & crevices in their sleepy state. they kindly will beg for food & talk to you, never saw any trouble from them.
We call homeless people 'homies' here. They hang out at the Salvation Army or city mission, where they know they'll get a feed. They would come to the Baptist church too, when had community meal on Fridays. My church friend organised it after we had food stolen from church, and realised, people were HUNGRY.
They would sleep in the public library too, as it was warm. When I was working there, never spoke to them, but just let them be. They wouldn't borrow any books, cos you need an address to have a library card. One guy used to always bring his trolley in with all his worldly possessions.

42nd street is near Broadway or on Broadway? We have a Broadway here in Auckland in Newmarket, where all the new shops are, but there's only two cinemas there. No theatres. How about Times Square?
The theatres are in the CBD, which is Queen Street, and used to be called Midcity. The exact centre of town, would be the town hall, at the intersection of Queen Street and Mayoral Drive but the epicentre of Auckland, where all distance is calculated, would be in the former QE2 square down by the waterfront.
Anyway since I am a surburbanite, and we have so many suburbs in Auckland, am always fascinated with civic centres and where they are located. It used to be, you'd always find a library, post office, town hall/chambers, and district court, police station and church where the centre was. There might be a clock tower. Usually a square of some sort. That's where all the action is.
basically, 12 avenues. there is a 4th avenue which some new yorkers don't even know of. it runs from cooper square to union square, but not totally.
47th is diamond row, about between 7th & 8th avenues while 46th is restaurant row. . 42nd near broadway, 44th to 46th is more broadway. great to know if i get to australia.

Actually in revelation God talks about 12 precious beautiful stones, diamond is not in them. So actually diamond is not as precious as people think.

if you are still talking to me, no, breakfast for us was always at sarabeth's across from central park. after breakfast, we would take the horse-carriage ride into the park.
We have Little Sister cafe near Central Park where I live. I don't go there for breakfast though. I'm not early enough lol
Across the way is Kings Plant Barn, which does serve breakfast from 7am. I could walk up there but usually just drive the car up because I might be buying plants...or potting mix.

i view new zealand as a peaceful place. is it mostly? what's the general crime rate? how hot? how cold?

um...it varies. Mostly. We protested nuclear weapons, so famously nuclear free. We're in the Pacific Ocean. We cry on Anzac Day.
I don't know about general crime rates. I think you'll need to google the NZ police to find out those stats. There are some particular crimes that peeps keep an eye on, like gangs and drug deals, though some things are decriminalised, and some that are recriminalised.
Child abuse and domestic violence is shocking. Suicide rate is highest in the developed world.
Hot it varies, the hottest would be maybe 33 degrees celsius. Coldest can get down to -6. North Island is warmer than the South Island. In general the climate zones are subtropical, warm temperate, cool temperate and er.. bl***y freezing.
Do New Yorkers ever visit the Old York? i.e York in Yorkshire. What do they think of the Grand old Duke of York? Or the current/former Duke and Duchess of York?
