it may be illegal to live in central park but people do. i've seen them come out of cracks & crevices in their sleepy state. they kindly will beg for food & talk to you, never saw any trouble from them. Can you live IN Central Park?
Like do the homeless put up their tents there?
Where is the exact centre of Manhattan? I mean geographically. There must be some marker or something.
We call homeless people 'homies' here. They hang out at the Salvation Army or city mission, where they know they'll get a feed. They would come to the Baptist church too, when had community meal on Fridays. My church friend organised it after we had food stolen from church, and realised, people were HUNGRY.it may be illegal to live in central park but people do. i've seen them come out of cracks & crevices in their sleepy state. they kindly will beg for food & talk to you, never saw any trouble from them.
so..47th street?midtown is 27th to 57th exactly!
basically, 12 avenues. there is a 4th avenue which some new yorkers don't even know of. it runs from cooper square to union square, but not totally.I am not sure exactness, but roughly.
12 ave total?
Manhattan is narrow from north to south.
47th is diamond row, about between 7th & 8th avenues while 46th is restaurant row. . 42nd near broadway, 44th to 46th is more broadway. great to know if i get to australia.so..47th street?
42nd street is near Broadway or on Broadway? We have a Broadway here in Auckland in Newmarket, where all the new shops are, but there's only two cinemas there. No theatres. How about Times Square?
The theatres are in the CBD, which is Queen Street, and used to be called Midcity. The exact centre of town, would be the town hall, at the intersection of Queen Street and Mayoral Drive but the epicentre of Auckland, where all distance is calculated, would be in the former QE2 square down by the waterfront.
Anyway since I am a surburbanite, and we have so many suburbs in Auckland, am always fascinated with civic centres and where they are located. It used to be, you'd always find a library, post office, town hall/chambers, and district court, police station and church where the centre was. There might be a clock tower. Usually a square of some sort. That's where all the action is.

Auckland is in New Zealand, and it's a completely different country to Australia.![]()
if you are still talking to me, no, breakfast for us was always at sarabeth's across from central park. after breakfast, we would take the horse-carriage ride into the park.I prefer pearls
Although I'm not a gentleman.
Do you have Breakfast at Tiffany's?
i view new zealand as a peaceful place. is it mostly? what's the general crime rate? how hot? how cold?We have Little Sister cafe near Central Park where I live. I don't go there for breakfast though. I'm not early enough lol
Across the way is Kings Plant Barn, which does serve breakfast from 7am. I could walk up there but usually just drive the car up because I might be buying plants...or potting mix.
No horses - the horses are in the next suburb over.
Diamond Row for Aucklanders is the main street in Remuera. So many exclusive jewellery stores. The wealthy live there.
There are a few in Downton Queen Street and there's even a Tiffany's but it's not all jewellery and the wealthy don't tend to live right in the city.
a ruby story for you: a lady walked into a merchandise store & bought a jewel for $5. she got home & wondered why it was so heavy. twas a ruby. value: $2,000,000!!!
Wow, really? This wasn't Antiques Roadshow, where people find old junk in their attic, get it valued, and it turns out that old manky teddy bear is worth a hundred thousand quid?a ruby story for you: a lady walked into a merchandise store & bought a jewel for $5. she got home & wondered why it was so heavy. twas a ruby. value: $2,000,000!!!
