Well, I don't plan to become a "furry" anytime soon. Even if I do have a hairy chest.

I do like dogs, but I've never had one. Kind of dog does she have?
I believe she is a German shepherd mix.

Cinder's dog, not Cinder. 😎😬🐕‍🦺

No I never said attraction isn't important, I said the opposite actually. I said it is important but not the most important at all. And the first part of my comment was referring to the guy who said that sex was the most important.
The user has posted many times about his preoccupation with thoughts of sex and seeking a woman to "save" him and relieve his fixation, with no regard for what the woman may want or need.

Don't take his saying that sex is the most important thing in a relationship too seriously -- he's dealing with a lot of his own challenges.

Oh so you do think it's a dealbreaker for most guys? And obviously I wouldn't torment him with it, there are plenty of guys who are smarter than me but just choose a less well paying field (like science). Or is it different when the guy also has multiple degrees but just a less paying field than what you mentioned before, a lot of guys don't have a degree? What do you think?
I have had the luxury of having had several careers...
I hold several degrees, licenses, and etc.
So....yes, I hold the Ron Swanson license above them all. (I can do what I want)

And I noticed decades ago that guys weren't going to college like they used to. They certainly were not finishing even if they did start.
And that has created a strange situation to the common person.

Women have always excelled in academia. The sitting still and digesting knowledge is a definite feminine skill... guys can do it but girls do it better. (Generally speaking)
Application of the knowledge they acquire? That's debatable...(men tend to do better)
But academia no longer requires the correct application of knowledge to be a testable subject. (It used to).

A person most certainly can hold more profitable skills and choose to not utilize them for income generation...various reasons why. I had mine. I am ONLY willing to tell my story. There are millions of them out there.

So....

Ultimately That is a psychology question....I try not to do those because I get in trouble when I do.
But this also is a CHRISTIAN forum. So....my safe answer is....ask them why.
And if you are trustworthy enough....they MIGHT tell you.

Hi I'm sorry I replied so late, I didn't see your comment.
I don't really have a minimum salary tbh. I don't think my reproductive window is any of your business but I am 23 so I think I'm fine. My professors aren't left wing at all. I also don't want an "alpha" male.
I never had any debt because I'm not from the US. No I don't own property yet.
I don't completely understand your next point, sorry, but I seem to understand you mean women with a higher salary often divorce men when they have a lower salary. If that is what you mean, I would not divorce a man because of that.
How many reproducing female ancestors did it take to produce you during their reproductive window? Is that also none of my business? I really do not care all that much about some internet stranger or their reproductive window so you might try lightening up. And if you do not want an alpha, then settle for a beta. There are plenty of them who do not earn much money. The bottom 50% is loaded with beta incels so take your pick. It must be the same in your neck of the woods.

You made a request to internet strangers, and you got what you got. Why would you assume i care all that much about your reproductive window when i do not know you at all? I did not know what country you are from and assumed you were from the USA and i don't really care about that either. Anyways, hope it works out for you. Sometimes it is hard for me to be Christian. Truth be told, i really do not care all that much about you, your salary, your college professors, your claims money does not matter when it really does. Husbands should be able to support their wives. That is a minimal requirement. If they cannot support their wives or have no real future, they are not fit to be husbands. OK, you make a lot of money, but what is your body count at 23? I do not really care. The point being, your value decreases as time marches on, and there are other factors that come into play. In courtship, most of your younger people do not think with their heads, have no requirements (like you). A lot of claims about what you would not do but that is just talk since you have not been tested. It would be far easier for you to leave a man because you really do not need him financially and when the going gets rough, and it will, you will know if you pass or fail your own stated standards.

Hi @LilyLola , welcome to the site!

I see that you have run into a few members who are facing some personal issues. I am sorry for that, unfortunately it happens sometimes when certain subjects come up. Nothing at all wrong with anything you are posting, I wish everyone on here was as mature and polite as you are 😊.

Regarding your question, the answer will vary depending on the man you ask, but I would stay away from anyone who seems overly concerned with how much you make. Just try to find someone who loves you for who you are.

I'm sorry you are getting some odd responses, money can be a very emotional subject for men and women both. Many divorces are rooted in money issues, so you will definitely be hearing from that side of the coin.

Best!

I'm not afraid of a woman with a higher salary. Bring her to me. :geek:

IG it's because I see a lot of Christians saying a woman should stay at home more and that the man should be the provider,
And there is rational reasons for that. How many of your female ancestors had (like three) children by the time they were 23 and married? All the way back to the beginning of humanity? Without all of them reproducing (yes, sex is important), you would not be here. Who will make the most impact in the long term? The uneducated female mother who produces five children with her husband, and they grow up to get married and have children, and the cycle continues, so when she is on her deathbed, she is surrounded by both children and grandchildren? Right now, the replacement rate (2.1 per female) is dropping, meaning extinction and most of your ancestors were female. One alpha male can impregnate five females. Solomon had 1000 wives and concubines. You can look all that up since you must know how to do research given your education.

which leads to them saying men should earn more because otherwise he isn't a provider.
Exactly. It can work depending on the couple but is normally an anomaly. Historically, men who could not provide extincted their bloodline. They may have died in wars at young age or due to disease. So there is a trade-off there with educated females spending years in college

I asked google if all the rich people donated 1 million each. It then told me it would take 1 million from each person in the USA population. And, it's impossible for it too happen.

As for the women who are, superior, it don't matter. I love a women who is in charge, or command. But I also love the women whom I can be... umm, in charge of. Either way it's team work, not who is *supposed to be the higher power. Thinking about it, you guys should switch rolls, let the women be in charge of projects, and then you take charge of other projects.

Hello everyone,

I'm an young woman and I'm single now. After my studies I found I job I really like (it's law related). My "problem" is that the salary is way above average for a normal starting salary, and I'm scared I'll meet a great man and then he wouldn't want to be with me because my salary is probably going to be higher than his and perhaps he thinks men should provide and be the primary income. (I don't have a problem being with a man who has a lower income btw)

Do a lot of guys view it like this and what do I do?
Money is something you will lose when you die.

Anything you can buy with money will also be lost when you die.

If a guy thinks money is so important that he won't date you because you make more than he does, you don't want that man. He puts way too much importance on money.

Also, howdy and welcome to the forum.

I wasn't here to say howdy when you joined because I was on vacation.

You can have children when you are rich and pay for their (higher) educations, but if you are poor they will struggle or be in debt.

It depends on how you spend your money. If you are above average, its better because you don't have to work as longer hours than someone who's on a wage, unless they save save save and don't spend it on themselves.

Having a lot of children isn't all its cracked up to be. If you are already rich, ok, but if poor it will fall on the eldest to look after everyone else when the mother is too tired and the dad is working, I know because my mum who was the eldest did that for her family. But that was back in the day you could have a job by just walking in a factory or workplace and they would actually say..do you want a job? And you'd have a job the next day.

Nowadays you have to fight tooth and nail to get a decent job.

My mum was ok in that she had her mum's mum to look after her when she was little.
But not everyone has that. I keep hearing of grandparents who just don't want to know their grandchildren and are skiers...spend the kids inheritance...all on themselves.
I try not to judge but just think that's totally selfish when they are able bodied and can still help babysit once in a while.

Yes, I totally agree with you and I understood what you were saying. I suppose my comment was just talking about the subject in general and referring to the person before you. Attraction and sexual desire is absolutely key. One of my favourite metaphors is the braid. With the spirit of God as the golden strand that braids two hearts together.

If the children in the above photo are all hers it looks like she had triplets and Irish twins all in succession.

Don't be fooled though. Managing money represents responsibility. And you want to have a responsible partner. It doesn't matter the amount per se, but having enough to be able to function well and contribute is essential and doesn't encourage people with compatible world views.

So yes. I would go so far as saying, do not marry somebody who doesn't know how to manage their money; unless you are OK with being totally in control and just giving your spouse an allowance. I don't think that's super healthy though. Especially if you feel the person will not use the money wisely. Trust comes with responsibility.Common values relating to material objects are important in this life. Let's not super spiritualize this topic.

The Bible has a lot of guidance and instruction about money.

Yea the whole 'allowance' thing is super infantalizing. But some couples do that.
Coercion and control can become financial abuse as well. I would not want to be a 'kept woman'

I know of couples where one partner was a former gambler and his wife had to restrict his spending money.

Anyway, it pays to keep all your receipts. If push comes to shove, a lot of wealthier couples sign pre-nups so that in event of divorce, they don't clean each other out. They agree what happens to the shared property in event of a split. The super super wealthy who own several homes probably just end up living separately.

The other thing is if you marry someone way older, who probably has more earning power than you and savings/assets stored up, they won't be as reliant on you, the big problem with that is when it comes time to retire, they'd be free and you might still be working. Unless you give up your job to retire as well, since being a lawyer is not like a mom and pop business unless you BOTH are lawyers and make partner.

Money is a difficult thing. It diverts our attention away from God. One friend said, "next to oxygen, you need money." (Dave K.)
So expect this evil to destroy as much as possible. Nevertheless, you must have it to survive.

The key is balance. Take a little less to balance things out. Just like food, or anything else. Moderation. Show a generous nature to others. This example will lift you up in the eyes of your spouse. But not anyone on the street. No, go anomiously and let your spouse choose who the gift goes to. Show that you do not live for your money but for your God. But don't give it to churches, the blood suckers without shame. No, give it to children in need. Cancer patients who need a little help. Like that. And watch your man love you for who you are.
