God has spared me from both. The only opposite sex I have a relationship with is my mother.
You seemed to be afraid to list your age and talk about any previous relationships you may have had. This would give a good sense for the members to respond to your posts more effectively.

Right now, you remain an unknown entity. Let the members know who you really are and what you are about.

Conversation is a two-way street, and since you refuse to participate, this discussion you and I are having is basically one-sided and therefore, pointless.

Yeah, "sharing" household chores of cleaning up messes that are doubled, tripled, even qruadrupled by more people in the hosue, compared to the amount of mess caused by yourself - and assuming your partner's willing to share the chores daily without complaining. Your "if" is a huge assumption which I wouldn't make.
You have absolutely no clue whatsoever what a healthy relationship with the opposite sex consists of, let alone marriage. Your math is fuzzy too. Makes absolutely no sense.

I don't recall ever saying that I get depressed. I do recall saying that I feel as if things have crept in and negatively influenced my own communion and walk with God. I have been praying all morning, and I definitely got some sort of breakthrough. My main issue is that of time. Specifically, how much time is wasted at my current job, which I am actively seeking to replace with a new one. That's about it. I don't think that I ever get depressed. Concerned? Definitely.
Well, isn't that bonny. I don't think I get depressed either.

Talking in circles, aren't we.

I guess I don;t have the sagacity to comprehend the nuance, then. All I know is that regardless of intensity, desire for marriage with your existing partner upon a matured relationship is OK, desire for marriage with a stranger, an imaginary figure or nobody in mind at all, that's not OK.
So marriage is OK. But a single person desiring marriage is not OK.

How does a marriage start, then in the first place?

Perhaps God can straighten out your twisted warped views on sex and marriage.
Don't worry for me. Pray and ask God to strangten out the whole civilization's warped views on sex and marriage first.

Already shared with you. Other than my parents, the only and most valuable relationship I have is with Lord Jesus. It's just a privilege to know him and walk with him.

Well I guess ignorance is a bliss then, in this instance.

Start with acquiring a marriage license from county clerk?
No, I mean, how does the relationship process that culminates in a marriage start, if the desire for romance/marriage and the pursuit of these desires is all just a worldly, ungodly distraction?

Only God can answer, since it was God who brought Eve to Adam, and God who joined them together, in his mysterious ways.

For anyone who might remember...

I think the thread with the most pages of replies here in Singles was Arwen's Streams of Consciousness & Thoughts.

I just looked, and it had 3,183 pages of replies.

Ans now I'm guessing...

If any thread has a chance of catching up to that record -- it's going to be this one. 😆

So why does God bring people together in marriage if it's all just an unimportant, worldly distraction?

Permission to sex. Better to marry than burn in passion, a more worldly, destructive distraction.

Marriage and sex is a worldly, destructive distraction? Then why did God create those things at the beginning, when the world was perfect? And why did people like Jesus and Paul allow them?

Because the Pharisees had ruined it with their clever strategy of "serial monogamy", i.e. frequent divorcing and remarrying, so they could enjoy many women without the charge of adultery.
That doesn't answer my question. You said marriage was an abstract concept. Perhaps you meant serial monogamy was an abstraction of man? Arbitrariness, in an attempt to evade accountability or consequences?

It could, when you're only debating on marriage itself, without any partner you know in your personal life to substantiate your arguments.
It's reasonable for a single man or woman to hold the conceptual desire to marry. The conviction of those who are drawn to the idea and values of lifelong companionship and family building are no less valid.

And btw, "one body union" is not referring to marriage, but sexual intercourse, as shown in 1 Cor. 6:16 - "Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” You're not married to a harlot, but by screwing her you'll become one body with her, as consequence of fornication.
I never asserted that being concatenated in one body was synonymous with marriage?

What God has put together, let no man separate. Such an explicit statement has to be apropos to marriage. Prioritising reconciliation over separation. We all know that fornication isn't a vehicle for something God would want to put together and keep together.

Because both Lord Jesus and apostle Paul has ruled marriage as a worldly distraction, neither was married. Honoring marriage is one thing, worshipping marriage as the prize and proof of your salvation is quite another.
Marriage or preoccupation with an idealised version of marriage, especially the desperate desire to be rescued from single life, is a potential distraction. But your hypothetical projections are not always the unarguable state of things.

I have no problem with some of your deductive reasoning. The premise and conclusion is true. Marriage ain't for everyone, and it is better not to marry. But that doesn't mean it's advantageous for us all to remain single. It's not to your detriment to make allowance for those who chose or want to experience what married life can bring.
