Following a police search of his home, he was arrested, tried for sedition, and beheaded on July 26, 1547.

Pierre Ameaux (1546): A member of the Little Council (Geneva's city government) who publicly asserted that Calvin was a wicked man preaching false doctrine. Because this directly attacked the authority of the church, Calvin's supporters had him arrested. Ameaux was sentenced to a public penance where he had to walk around the town in just his shirt, carrying a lighted torch, and beg the council for mercy

I wonder what it is like to be so indoctrinated at such a level that they cannot see what is plainly obvious.

Nowhere does scripture state that a person is regenerated prior to faith, and yet they still believe it is true.. the force of that denial must be something else, those of us who are normal Christians can never understand.

Farel raised him up and said: "Confess thy crime, and God will have mercy on your soul." Servetus replied:, I am not guilty; I have not merited death." Then he smote his breast, invoked God for pardon, confessed Christ as his Saviour, and besought God to pardon his accusers.
