Don't know why people make salvation so difficult. We are saved by grace. Grace is the unmerited exercise of God's power in/on/through an individual. Thus, salvation is the result of the activity of God alone. Any activity on our part...belief, repentance, confession, obedience, etc...is the result of the power of God being exercised.

This is why the gospel is only the power of God to those who believe. All would believe if God always exercised grace when the gospel was preached. Those who don't come to belief have not had the grace of God exercised in/on/through them.
Oh but some will say such things as God made Paul do such and such while they scream about anyone being forced to do anything.

Oh, well, it was interesting to come across more of their hypocrisy, with them supporting
Paul doing the very same thing they condemn Calvin for, and continually lie about.

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to Whom be glory forever and ever. He was delivered over to death for our trespasses and was raised to life for our justification. Galatians 1 v 3-5; Romans 4 v 25

So Romans is basically a book to ignore? And there are no fools who have said in their heart there is no God? And Jesus did not mean it when He said to preach the gospel, HIS gospel not Calvins', to everyone?

You appear to think God bases salvation on whimsy rather than on the death and resurrection of His Son.

Really wondering how you arrive at those conclusions. All will never believe because we can reject or accept as is plainly written in scripture. Kindly show in scripture, where God states He makes salvation available to all but rejects some because.....why not.

Look, once you started in on Calvinism and got confused over what sanctification/regereration, you lost me. I appreciate the effort you have made, but your understanding is the usual Calvin said, Calvin taught, Calvin's gospel, Calvin Calvin Calvin.

Correct. People are regenerated when they accept the actual biblical gospel and it is not Calvinism, Tulipism or a rose by any other name.

You have swallowed Calvinism and found it tasty; I find it leaves a bitter taste and misrepresents God.
I hear what you’re saying, and I understand that some of the categories I’m using—especially the connection between sanctification and regeneration—may feel unfamiliar or even uncomfortable. That’s completely fair. All I would ask is that you give the view I’m presenting the time and attention it deserves before dismissing it. I’m not trying to defend “Calvin’s gospel”; I’m trying to follow the biblical logic that ties together new birth, the Spirit’s sanctifying work, and God’s role as Creator. If you sit with those ideas for a while, you may find that they make more sense than they first appear. In any case, I appreciate the conversation, and I’ll leave it there for now.

These are the last recorded words of Christ in the Bible

16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.

17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
Revelation 22

There is no exeption. There are no exceptions, as is true of John 3:16.

To overwrite and claim otherwise to what Jesus states in Revelation, is clearly deception or worse, blasphemy.

can a bad tree produce good fruit, Calvin was a bad tree.
There are none good but God alone. Jesus said so.

allhavesinned.png

“Why do you call Me good?” Jesus replied. “No one is good except God alone. Mark ch. 10 verse 18 and Luke ch. 18 verse 19 “There is only One who is good.” Matthew ch. 19 verse 17b. There is no one who does good. fr Psalm ch. 14. There is no one righteous, not even one. Romans ch. 3 verse 10. They are corrupt; their ways are vile. There is no one who does good. All have turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. fr Psalm ch. 53 verses 1-3. Surely there is no righteous man on earth who does good and never sins. Ecclesiastes ch. 7 verse 20. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

LOL! Stop responding to people like they are in your small group class. It's so out of place especially to those who actually study scripture apart from your little group.
I appreciate the feedback. My tone comes from trying to be clear and constructive, not from assuming anyone here is in my small group or needs remedial instruction. Different people communicate differently, and I tend to write in a way that lays out the reasoning so others can follow the argument. If that feels out of place to you, that’s fair. All I’d ask is that you read what I’m saying for its substance rather than its style. In any case, I’ll leave the conversation here and let the thread continue without me.

No one is forced to love God. When someone receives a new heart and Spirit, and are indwelt by the Holy Spirit, their desire is for God. They gladly run after God.

I'm reading this... and wow. This is dangerous. It's definitely not grace alone, although God's attitude of grace is a big part.

You forgot Christ.

No Christ, no salvation, even with grace. God could desire to graciously save. And even if we pretended Calvinism was real and God forced people to believe.. still no salvation. We need Christ to die for our sins... so that our faith has value being recieved. The value being received is the finished work of Christ on the cross.

I agree. God gives us new desires. Oh those poor free willers, having God force His goodness onto them against their will.

Psalm 37 verse 4 Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Oh, so you believe Cam so ignorant that in his theology, the gospel does not include Christ? Jeepers.

But of course ignorant people will agree with you.

Yeah, it is quite something.
This has made its way into the church and it will take years for the church to recover. 🙏

Wow is a good word to use, but not for the reason you suggest. Of course the basis for God exercising grace is the cross. So no, I didn't forget Christ. I simply forgot that people will try to discredit the messenger when they can't discredit the message.

Personally, I'm not a Calvinist nor a defender of Calvin. I am a Christian and do make a defense of what I believe scripture teaches.

Interesting that you say faith alone isn't sufficient for salvation. What else is necessary?

Please don't tell me you too are overcome by CDS. I haven't mentioned TULIP. I have shared scripture.

Also, are you saying the words of Jesus are more authoritative than the rest of scripture?

There is much here I'm more than happy to address, but let's make sure we are on the same page. We agreed that we are saved by grace. We agreed that grace was unmerited favor and the exercise of God's power. In other words, we don't deserve be saved, but God acts mercifully on our behalf, and exercises His power in/on/through us to effect our salvation. Any objections to this point?
cute little CDS comment like TDS. don't ignore the text and The Person of Christ who is speaking. I careless about John Calvin. He is not authrotative.
