1 John 3 v 8 The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the very start. This is why the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil.

Wow! Let's not add more to scripture than what's actually there. I realize you must in order to suffice your theology.

Let's simplify things:
1. Did God say he was going to overthrow Nineveh in forty days? Abolutely
2. Did God overthrow Nineveh in forty days? Nope
3. Why didn't God ovrthrow Nineveh in forty days? Nineveh repented at the preaching of God's word.
4. What was the response of God? God did not do what he said he was going to do. He did not overthrow them.
"Simplifying the narrative text is helpful, but we have to use sound hermeneutics by comparing Scripture with Scripture. The claim that the Reformed view 'adds to Scripture' overlooks a massive biblical reality: God’s ultimate decrees never change (Isaiah 46:10), and He does not change His mind like a man (Numbers 23:19).

If we take your point #4 to its absolute literal conclusion—that God genuinely changed His mind—we end up with a God who lacks total foreknowledge or had to alter His decree based on human actions.

The Reformed view doesn't add to the text; it recognizes that Jonah 3:10 uses anthropomorphic language to describe an unchangeable God interacting with time. God sovereignly decreed the warning, sovereignly granted the repentance (Acts 11:18), and sovereignly accomplished the exact outcome He intended from eternity past."

Paul warns against men sneaking into silly women's homes and leading them astray.

We, have you.

Colossians 2:8 “Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.”

Consult the gospels but especially the specifics of the death and resurrection of Christ. An interesting fact, is that before Jesus died He healed people. It was not until His resurrection, that salvation is offered to all.

Do you need healing?
You at a loss for words

Amen! I cannot remember what I read in Calvin’s Institutes thirty years ago but it contained much truth as well as the false tulip dogma.
The false TULIP dogma came from his disciples after his death.

The TULIP acronym, summarizing the five points of Calvinism, was popularized after John Calvin's death, particularly in the early 20th century, although its origins can be traced back to earlier Reformed responses to Arminianism. The five points reflect a systematic interpretation of Calvin's teachings but are not directly from Calvin himself.

You tacitly forgot the source. We all sure know it t'wern't you. The reformed view is a view reformed by men who found the actual scripture too hard to practice. So much easier to blame God for everything and have no worries since He is responsible for everything.

In Gospel Teaching and Preaching, we need to be specific as to whom Christ died for.

Well you don't need that then! You can relax and let God save people and kick some into the fire. Extreme Calvinsim! Definately not a sport enjoyed by all.

"Silly women" was used as a derogatory term for cowardly men. Not women.

Traditionally we have seen such word usage when training recruits in the army.

Yeah you do. Yeah but its not believe and get saved. One needs to be saved b4 they can believe, a lost man cant believe because he lost and the Gospel is hid to them that are lost 2 Cor 4:3-4

That's a fallacy. That's the Calvinism that I never agreed with.

Romans 10:10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

This idea that man must be born again to believe is all derived from Romans 3, and a misinterpretation of "none who seeks after me." Thus, some Calvinist deduce that man would never want to believe the Gospel. That's just false. I call that the two option theory. Were it must be a pure faith from the Spirit, or from the flesh. But there are other options. I believe the answer is in the OT, where they believed, but did not have the life in them. The Presence of God, His Word, etc., if that is even necessary.

Romans 3 is speaking of total inability of man to do good by righteous standards, the Law, and thus justify himself. It's not speaking of total depravity, the unwillingness of man to even want what is good. The proof is everywhere in Scripture.

Here is the standard. If one Has the Holy Spirit, he has the life (Romans 8:9-11)

Here, we have believers who already believed, but did not have the Spirit in them. (John 7:38-39).

The lack of understanding in 1 Corinthians is the deeper truths of Scripture that one can only comprehend with that life in them, not the Gospel.

1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

And here we have some disciples who had not yet received that life giving indwelling which was given at Pentecost, who needed there hearts to be opened by Jesus to understand these deeper truths.

Luke 24:45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

So, while there is some truth to needing the Spirit of God to understand the deeper spiritual truths, but that does not mean that they cannot understand the Gospel and believe without that life in them.

We receive that life/indwelling as a result of believing. Galatians 3:2-3, Ephesians 1:13-14.

Jesus is the Author and Finisher of that life once we receive it, that's the indwelling.

Everyone in the OT believed without that life, the indwelling. The initial faith is just a desire, and we can desire to do good from the flesh. We are just incapable of producing good/righteousness from the flesh. that's still the case.

Romans 7: 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.

You may find this interesting.

3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

But there is context. Here you are speaking of God's judgment, His hardening. And yet some of them still believed. And those who were blinded could be grafted back into god's promises if they repent and believe. Context.

Does God's word always accomplish its purpose when sent forth?

Did God send His word to Nineveh?

Did the people get saved?

Wasn't salvation God's purpose?

Absolutely, Cameron.
It was God the people of Ninevah believed, not Jonah, though it was Jonah who preached unto them. By whom did they obtain the faith to understand the warning to them was from God? Did they take it to heart just because Jonah said to? Nope, without faith first being given to them, they would have ignored Jonah's warning just as many, many people do, and would have laughed Jonah out of town, his warning being folly to them as 1 Co 2:14 so tells us.

[Jon 3:5 KJV] 5 So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

Have not heard that before.

My excellent Pastor-teacher, R.B. Thieme, Jr was a treasure chest of knowledge.
He taught six nights a week. Initially, church members began to record him.
It was not his idea to record his messages. Today it has become a norm to do so.

The world cannot receive the Spirit of Truth. Do you know who "the world" is?

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto
salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

The world includes tulipists.
